  • This study approaches how newly emerged game companies has implemented strategies for product diversification according to market growth cycle(beginninggrowing-mature) by empirical case study through evolutionary theory and resource based theory approach. At the beginning, online game companies had grown with different strategies(technology based, service based) by initial condition(genre, technological level, user attribute). After market growth, for product diversification, these companies carried out path-dependent alliance strategy(complementary, competitive) depending on resource base(technology capacity, service capacity based). As online game market getting mature, these companies has adapted flexibly in responding to market growth cycle by integrated strategy(naturally selected to mobilize every possible resource capability). By analyzing the alliance strategies pattern of online game companies in newly emerged game industry according to market growth cycle through combination of resource based theory and evolutionary theory, these results suggest that new industrial, theoretical, policy model is required.

  • In this study, we suggest that Copying Theory suggested by Pym could be effective in translating games. Languages used in games are based on English because of the history of games mainly developed in America. When people are playing games, people pursue effective communication. Because of this, they transform translated words into simple forms or original foreign languages to communicate each other for effective communication, The usage of English in game translation and communication support the idea that Copying strategy could be effective in translating games.

  • As hardware performance rises, game users demand higher computer graphic, more convenient UI(User Interface), faster network, and smarter AI(Artificial Intelligence). At this time, however, AI development is accomplished by a co-development team or only one developer. For that reason, it's hard to verify that AI performance and basic game AI technology is lacking for developing high-level AI. Searching the merits and demerits of existing game AI platforms, we investigate main points to consider when designing game AI platforms in this paper. From this we suggest Darwin, a game platform, based on agent that developers embody AI easily and capable of proposing AI test with module that makes them find strategic position. And then evaluate achievement results through making agent used strategic module that Darwin offers.

  • Sid Meier said, "A game is a series of interesting choices." This means the interesting choices make the game funny. In this paper, we define the no interesting options in the gameplay as strategic errors of the gameplay and suggest a detection method of these errors of the gameplay. The suggested method detects the strategic errors of the gameplay by the inspection of the payoff matrices. This method can detect the options of no strategies of the opponent, dominant options, dominated options, similar options with almost same payoffs in the case of the inspection of the payoff matrices. Additionally it can detect the options of the expected payoff with excessively high, the options of the expected payoff with excessively low, the options of the usage probability with excessively high, and the options of the usage probability with excessively low in the case of the inspection of the payoff matrices with the corresponding frequency rates.

  • Many game companies are releasing various games based on mobile platforms, and they are using various marketing strategies such as using celebrities to expand their influence on the initial market. This increases the related cost, which makes the continued development of small and medium-sized game companies more difficult. Therefore, this study attempts to understand consumer values according to the type of mobile game marketing and to explore the factors that affect the switching intention of mobile games based on real users of mobile games. As a result of this study, it was found that the playfulness and economics of mobile game marketing have positive effect on the attitudes towards mobile game advertisements and attitudes towards mobile games, but the attractiveness of mobile game marketing using celebrities does not. It was found that attitudes towards mobile game advertisements and attitudes towards mobile games have an influence on the switching intention of mobile games. Through this, we intend to provide useful implications for small and medium game companies to seek effective marketing plans.

  • This paper presents a game-theoretic model of information transmission for variable message sign(VMS) operations. There are one VMS operator and many drivers as players. Operator wants to minimize the total travel time while the drivers want to minimize their own travel time. The operator who knows the actual traffic situation offers information strategically. The drivers evaluate the information from operator, and then choose the route. We model this situation as a cheap-talk game which is a simplest form of Bayesian game. We show that there is a possibility that the operator can improve the traffic efficiency by manipulating the electric signs at times. Indeed, it is an equilibrium of the game. This suggests that the operator must consider the strategic use of VMS system seriously.
