  • The construction method of scaffolding structures is different from Mortise and Tenon and bucket arch structure of traditional large woodwork. It forms an independent construction system-fixing nodes with knots, a large number of diagonal braces are used to fix shelves and the structures mostly contain X-shape and triangular shape details. Simple ones include stalls, sheds, rain sheds, altars, lamp racks etc. But the scaffolding with larger scale and more complicated structure are modeled on archways, theatres and other buildings which are used in commercial and festival activities. At present, Macao, Hong Kong, Guangdong, Sichuan, Shanxi and other places in China have retained the custom of using scaffolding structures in important festival activities, but their uses, techniques and building types are slightly different from place to place. Due to building and demolishing at any time, the construction and service cycle is short. As a result, there are almost no physical objects left. We can only deduce the use and technical characteristics of ancient scaffolding skills through the colorful building styles that have been preserved with folk activities in various parts of China, the craftsmanship handed down from generation to generation by the scaffolding guild and artisans, and the description of cultural and historical materials and the mutual corroboration of visual materials.

  • This study aims to investigate and analyze the plan and structural system of 4 kan(間) by 4 kan(間) square church built in early 20th century. At that time, three kinds of traditional wooden structure church had been built under the circumstances of transitional era : Basilica style such as Ganghwa Anglican Church, 'ㄱ' shaped style such as Keumsan Church and $4{\times}4$ Square style such as Bukok Church and Jacheon Church that are concerned in this study. Traditional plans and structural system were mixed with new religious function and transformed into korean peculiar style. $4{\times}4$ Square style is a residual product in that process. Despite of it, little concerns on it till now. The results of this study are described as follows. 1. The plan of these $4{\times}4$ square churches is divided into three areas : cathedra($1{\times}1$), attendance($4{\times}2$), and intermediation($4{\times}2$). The location of cathedra is commonly the opposition part of main gate and projected out of the building. Attendance area was also divided into two, man and woman, because of keeping a distance with each other. 2. The structural system of these $4{\times}4$ square churches are somewhat different because of their size and roof style. In the case of Bukok church, $4{\times}4$ square fall off $3{\times}3$ and $2{\times}2$ gradually and turn into paljak(八作) roof, which enable us to get in traditional entering methods. On the contrary, Jacheon church use hipped roof but almost alike pyramidal roof, which could make us not to recognize entering in the aspect of gable part.

  • Recent construction industry is going through much change as getting high-quality, high-technology and environment-friendly, and a safety countermeasure is required urgently as construction structures become larger and more complex. But, Safety management was ignored under quantity-oriented construction policy and that has led to large-scale accidents. Recently, interest for safety management and effective construction of safety management system has been enhanced. Therefore, in this study, we constructed safety management system using Mobile GIS for effective building safety management. As the result, we proposed a method which can manage buildings quickly and effectively as performing data accessibility, storage, and analysis directly in the field.

  • This study is basically about four-guardian-statutes-building-gate in 17th Century. In the field of art-history, there are four-guardian-statutes made of clay in order that the statutes are so gigantic and grotesque enough to threaten all the devils. This purpose of this study is to make sure that the similar variation occurred at the four-guardian-statutes-building-gate in 17th century. The results of this study are as follows. First, only Da-Po style four-guardian-statutes-building-gates were built in famous four temples separately from 1612 until the Manchu war of 1636. And there are gigantic four-guardian-statutes made of clay in the building. Second, there are Chul-mok Ik-gong style buildings were built in 1660s at Bo-Rim-Sa and Neung-Ga-Sa. The buildings including four-guardian-statutes-building-gate of Song-gwang-sa built in 1636 probably are all similar to earlier Da-Po style four-guardian-statutes-building-gates in the viewpoint of structural type and size of building. Third, it began to build Ik-gong style four-guardian-statutes-building-gates in 1676 at Su-ta-sa.

  • This study is about the change of multi-storied buildings in Hanyang, the capital city of Joseon Dynasty. The changes are divided into 3 phases in the viewpoint of architectural types and building types. The first phase is from the early Joseon Dynasty to the time of Japanese invasion to Korea and Sungryemun remains until now. The second phase is from 1592 to the the first half of the 18th century. Many multi-storied Buddhist halls were rebuilt at that time. In the final phase, many multi-storied gate buildings and multi-storied main buildings of palaces were rebuilt. And there are differences between the Buddhist buildings and the main buildings of palaces. By the way the change that architectural style of the Buddhist buildings and the main buildings of pal were switched and mixed occurred. For example, Anguksa Daeungjeon adopted the style of multi-storied gates and Injeongjeon adopted the style of multi-storied Buddhist halls. These phenomenon was result from periodical situation the monk carpenter and his disciple took part in governmental construction like Janganmun.

  • This research is conducted focusing on the 7-Dories type wooden buildings showing different rafter installation. This research found the reason why the rafter configuration look different each other and the relationship the between rafters and the Dory. Factors were compared to determine why the rafter configuration show the formal differentiation. The comparison factors are as follows: 1. The type of rafter installation is related to the longitudinal length of the building. 2. The type of rafter installation is related to the number of Kans on the side of the building and is proportionate. 3. The type of rafter configuration is related to the Dory arrangement and is proportionate. 4. The type of rafter configuration is related to the Dory's vertical arrangement. If the Dory arrangement is small, it is identified as two-stage rafter configuration. And if the Dory arrangement is large, it is identified as three-stage rafter configuration. Eventually, it was confirmed that the rafter configuration were affected by the Dory arrangement.

  • The speed of train has rapidly been increased in accordance with the developed railway technology. Nowadays, high-speed trains were introduced which has the speed faster than 400 km/h. In Korea, a lots of efforts were undertaken to increase the speed of train faster than 350 km/h, however noise and vibration are still the main problems to solve for realization of the high-speed train. In the case of operation speed faster than 350 km/h, it can be easily presumed that the noise and vibration damages could be increased in the train stations which are close to the passing railway tracks. Thus, the noise in the five different types of high-speed train stations were analyzed including stations built on the ground, underground, under rail, and two types on rail. The present paper predicts noises inside the stations depending on the speed of the passing trains and analyze the noise comparing with noise criteria (NC). Sound insulation performance of each part of buildings was calculated using the transmission noise formula and computer modeling, Finally, a series of processes were introduced to satisfy the aural environment with the optimum interior noise criteria by changing interior finishing materials.
