A Case Study on the Building Energy Savings through HVAC System Optimization Process (공조시스뎀 최적화를 통한 건물에너지 절감사례 연구)

  • The requirements for the optimal building system design is numerous. However, most system designers do not take care of various design strategies. They often argue that the proper simulation tools are not existed to solve the implicated design requirements and the time to consider many alternatives of building systems are insufficient. The aim of this study is to develop the optimization interface program that considers various system design variables and eventually find both the optimal values of annual energy use and cost. Therefore, Doe2Opt is developed to easily perform simulation-optimization process based on DOE2 and GenOpt, and minimizes energy cost of small-to-medium sized building for 6.7% and that of large sized building for 3% with optimizing several HVAC system variables.

  • 최근 국제유가의 급등으로 인하여 에너지절약을 위한 방안으로 에너지절약기기의 기술개발과 에너지절약시설에 대한 투자가 급증하고 있다. 이중 한 분야가 열병합발전시스템으로 기존시스템에 비해서 에너지절감과 환경오염방지에 기여하는 시스템이다. 최근에 실증 연구과제로 설치한 6kW마이크로가스열병합시스템의 설계 설치하여 1,032시간 운전한 결과를 소개하고자 한다.

  • Recently, all of the world are facing with a serious environmental crisis of global warming due to excessive energy consumptions. The Korean Government, taking over 97% of dependence on foreign energy, has made various efforts on reducing energy and greenhouse gas emission under the motto of "Low-Carbon Green Growth". Since the building sector takes 24% of domestic energy consumption, many design standards and regulations on saving energy in new buildings have been established. However, applications of energy saving designs and techniques on the remodeling process at deteriorated buildings including educational ones have been lack. Under a situation where the number of deteriorated schools accounts for up to 50%, this paper evaluated the performances of factors for reducing energy at deteriorated middle school buildings through an energy simulation tool on a standard school model. As a result, among factors of insulation, window's SHGC, southern louver, indoor setup temperature, and system efficiency, all other factors except window's SHGC and southern louver proved contribute to reduce energy at deteriorated middle school buildings, compared with the baseline energy consumption.

  • 최근 에너지 소비가 급증함에 따라 오피스 건물에 주광을 유입하여 조명에너지를 절감하는 연구가 진행중이다. 그러나 직접적인 주광유입은 작업환경의 조도분포를 불균일하게 만들어 빛의 품질을 떨어 뜨리고 업무효율을 저하시킨다. 이에 본 논문은 창측에 주광을 조절할 수 있는 베네시안 블라인드를 설치하여 블라인드의 슬랫 각도(Open, $-60^{\circ}$, $-30^{\circ}$, $0^{\circ}$, $+30^{\circ}$, $+60^{\circ}$)에 따라 실내로 유입되는 주광의 조도 및 균제도를 비교 분석하고, 작업환경의 조도분포가 가장 균일한 슬랫 각도로 블라인드를 제어한다. 이때 블라인드의 슬랫 각도별로 목표조도에 부합하기 위해 LED가 소모하는 누적 전력량을 산출한다. 슬랫 각도별로 산출된 균제도, 전력량을 기준으로 성능평가를 실시하여 성능이 우수한 슬랫 각도를 확인한다.

Heating and Cooling Energy Demand Analysis of Standard Rural House Models (농어촌 주택 표준모델의 냉난방에너지요구량 분석)

  • The annual energy demand of the standard rural house models was analyzed using the DesignBuilder. Indoor temperature set-point, U-value of outer wall, type of window, and degree of ventilation were selected as simulation parameters. In all the simulation cases, heating energy demand was higher than cooling energy demand regardless of the building size. When the lower U-value of the outer wall was applied to account for the thicker insulation layer, heating energy demand was decreased while cooling energy demand was increased. However, it is better to reduce the area of outer wall which is directly exposed to outdoor air because reducing the U-value of the outer wall is not effective in decreasing heating energy demand. Among the four different window types, the double skin window is most favorable because heating energy demand is the lowest. For a fixed infiltration rate, higher ventilation rate resulted in an increased heating energy demand and had minor impact on cooling energy demand. As long as the indoor air quality is acceptable, lower ventilation rate is favorable to reduce the annual energy demand.

A Study on the Comparison for Energy Consumption Characteristics between G-SEED certified and non-certified Office Buildings in Korea (G-SEED 인증 건축물과 비인증 건축물의 에너지 소비량 특성에 관한 연구 : 업무시설을 대상으로)

  • Considerable efforts have been made to reduce greenhouse gas emission around the world to cope with climate change. The government is implementing G-SEED certification to promote energy efficient building design. This study aims to verify the effectiveness of the G-SEED certification system by analyzing the actual energy use of certified and non-certified office buildings. For this purpose, the energy consumption of 135 certified and 142 non-certified office buildings was analyzed according to the seasonal characteristics, building size and number of floors, approval year, and certification grade. The energy saving effects of certified buildings was about 50% higher than that of non-certified buildings. The seasonal energy consumption of buildings is closely related to the heating degree-days. The energy consumption of certified and non-certified buildings decreases with increasing approval year. On the other hand, the energy consumption according to building size and certification grade is not related. This study provides meaningful basic data of G-SEED certification system for future improvement. As the building energy performance standards are strengthened over the years, it is necessary to make the individual score of G-SEED certified projects open to the public to configure the factors of energy efficiency.

Thermal Performance Evaluation of The Window Film Insulation for Building Energy Savings (건물에너지 절감을 위한 열차단 필름의 성능 평가)

  • Recently, Energy savings in buildings has received much attention in response to the increased needs for global warming and better comforts of the occupants in apartment housing. This study proposes the method which uses the sun control window film to reduce the cooling load and heating load improving the thermal performance of the building and it improves an energy efficiency. The film which used in actual measurement has a low shading coefficient and a solar energy transmission. so we measured the surface temperature of the triple Low-e glazing system used and inside temperature according to the change of outside temperature and solar energy to study thermal performance evaluation. As a result, it was helpful to use window film insulation to reduce inside temperature in summer and to keep room warm in winter.

  • Due to the global warming and energy exhaustion, energy efficiency improvement of construction is recognized the stream of times. To improve the efficiency of the building, in order to energy saving, passive elements should be applied. Then the first step be supposed that applying the new standards about the insulation boundary. The current insulation boundary standards are not reasonable as well as does not divide the purposes. As a result, energy is being wasted and many civil complaints are also occurred. To improve these problems, applying the insulation boundary need to divide the heating and non-heating and subdivide the purpose of construction. In this study, accurate real heating and air conditioning areas are presented that work on the new insulation boundary of purposes and applicable standards. This proposed, by the real heating and air conditioning areas, insulation boundary of purposes, matching the reasonable capacity and load of equipment, by working on standards by optimal maintenance can be energy saving, to present guidelines that environment improvement of actual residents as well as energy saving be expected.

  • 대상품목 선정은 전력사용량과 보급율 등을 감안하여 절전감재량이 큰 것을 우선하고 있으며 국내의 기술기준을 고려하여 달성가능의 범위에 따라 등급을 산정 부여한다. 가정용전력의 5.6%를 차지하는 세탁기, 26mm형광램프, 전기밥솥, 전자레인지는 1998년부터 시행중이다. 이에 따른 에너지절약 효과로는 20~25%의 절전향상 가능성이 있어 이를 개선시 연간 1,054백만 kwh의 전력절감이 가능하여 1,286억원의 전력비용 절감이 기대된다.
