Direct Control of Displacement Using Displacement and Resistance Force Contribution Factor (변위 및 내력기여도계수를 이용한 정량적 변위 제어)

  • The paper presents a direct method for the diplacement control and stiffness redesign using displacement and response force contribution factors. At first, these two kinds of factors are derived and the relationship between them is examined. An equation to evaluate the change of displacement according to the change of each member stiffness is proposed. For the statically determinate structures, the proposed equation gives the exact solution with no approximation. But it has some error in case of statically indeterminate structures because the redistribution of response forces is neglected in the equation. However, the equation may be very useful even for statically indeterminate structures because it provides the relationship between the member stiffness and the global displacement. The proposed method is expected to be useful for the displacement control of large space or hi-rise building structures where the stiffness design governs the design result.

  • A double split tee connection is used as a connection that is suitable for ordinary moment frames or special moment frames according to the combination of variables of the thickness of the T-stub flange and the gauge distance of the high-strength bolts. In order to demonstrate safe structural behavior, a double split tee connection must meet the requirements for inter-story drift angles and the moment of connection, as defined in the Korea Building Code-Structural. In order to determine whether the these requirements are met, it is necessary to predict rotational stiffness and the ultimate plastic moment of the connection. Therefore, this study primarily aimed to propose an analytical model for predicting the rotational stiffness of a double split tee connection under a static load. Toward this end, a three-dimensional, non-linear finite element analysis was carried out. Then, the applicability of the proposed model was verified after comparing the test results of this study with other studies.

Estimation of Rotational Stiffness of Connections in Steel Moment Frames by using Artificial Neural Network (인공신경망을 이용한 철골모멘트골조 접합부의 회전강성 손상예측)

  • In this study, the damage detection method is proposed for the rotational stiffness of connections in steel moment frames by using artificial neural network(ANN). The flexural moment of columns, natural frequencies, modeshapes are used for the input layer in ANN while the damage index, that signify the damage level, is used for the output layer in ANN. The 5-story steel moment frame as an example structure is used to generate the train and test data. Total number of damage scenarios considered is 829. From the results of application, it is shown that the proposed method can accurately estimate the location and level of damages.

  • P-${\Delta}$ analysis by use of the equivalent colurnn stiffness determined by Momcnt curvature-Thrust curves provides relatively precise analytical results for unbraced reinforced concrete columns, however it needs a complicated arialytical procedure. Equ~valent col~rnn stiffness equations are proposed for a simple analytical procedure which are ckterrnined by the Moment-Curvature Thrust curves of the practically useable sections. Thc proposed stiffness equations are appiled to P-${\Delta}$ analysis and rnornent magnifier method to compare with the selected test result. Use of the proposed stiffness equations may slrnplify the P-${\Delta}$ i.rialvtica1 procedure and improve the accuracy of moment magnifier niethod.

Stiffness Reduction Factor for Post-Tensioned Flat Plate Slabs under Lateral Loads (횡하중하의 포스트 텐션 플랫 플레이트 해석을 위한 강성감소계수)

  • Effective beam width model(EBWM) has been used for analysis of post-tensioned(PT) flat plate slab frames under lateral loads. The accuracy of this model in predicting lateral drifts and unbalanced moments strongly depends on the estimated effective stiffness of PT flat plate slabs. As moments on the slab due to lateral loads increases, cracks occur which leads to stiffness reduction in slabs. For analyzing PT flat plate slab structure under lateral loads with good precision, reduction in slab stiffness has to be accurately estimated for EBWM. For this purpose, this study collected test results of PT flat plate system conducted by former researches. And this study reduced the width of slab so that the stiffness of the EBWM converged into the lateral stiffness of each test specimens by trial and error. By conducting nonlinear regression analysis using the stiffness ratio of the reduced width of slab to the effective width of EBWM with respect to the level of slab moments, an equation for calculating stiffness reduction factor for slab is proposed. For verifying the accuracy of the proposed equation, this study compared with the test result of the PT flat plate frame. It is shown that the EBWM with the proposed equation predicts the actual stiffness of the PT specimen which varied according to the level of applied moment.

Investigation of Brake Squeal with Contact Stiffness Variation Using Experiment and FE Simulation (패드 접촉강성 변화에 따른 FE스퀼해석법 및 실험 검증)

  • In this study, squeal noise with respect to pressure variation is measured by a lab-scaled brake dynamometer and estimated by a complex finite element (FE) eigenvalue analysis. From the FE eigenvalue sensitivity analysis, unstable frequencies occur due to a mode-coupling mechanism and are found to change with variation in contact stiffness. In the experiment, squeal frequencies near 1 kHz, 2.5 kHz, 3.5 kHz, and 4 kHz are increased with pressure variation. The sensitivity of squeal modes to contact stiffness variation obtained from the FE analysis is shown to approximate the variation of squeal frequencies under pressure variation in the experiment.

Parametric Study on the tendency of Stiffness Variation using Variable Stiffness Mechanism (변수변화에 따른 가변강성 메커니즘의 강성변화 경향성에 관한 연구)

  • In general, a system can be stable when it is designed with a rigid material. However, the use of a rigid system can be limited, such as grasping a glass or using a small surgical instrument. To resolve this limitation, a variable stiffness mechanism was developed using a flexible material. Previous research verified the variable stiffness mechanism where flexible segments and rigid segments were connected alternately in series. However, research into the design parameters of the variable stiffness structure is needed to satisfy the desired stiffness. Therefore, a variable stiffness structure was tested by varying the design parameters to confirm the trend of the stiffness variation. When the radius of the structure becomes larger, the stiffness increases. The stiffness increased with decreasing length of the flexible segments. Under the same design parameters, the length of the flexible segments had a greater effect on the stiffness than the length of the rigid segments. In addition, the stiffness was estimated using the pseudo rigid body model and was compared with the experimental results. This parametric study can be used as a design guideline for designing the variable stiffness mechanism to satisfy the desired stiffness.

  • 스프링은 가장 널리 이용되어지고 있는 기계요소이다. 본 논문에서는 원추형 코일스프링의 강성을 구하기 위하여, 빔요소를 이용한 유한요소법을 사용하였다. 가상일의 법칙을 이용하였고, 코일스프링의 하중벡터를 압축 분포하중으로 대체하였다. 하중의 증가에 의한 절점에서의 변위는 유한요소법를 이용하여 계산하였다. 단계법으로 결점의 변위를 중첩하여 전체 강성행렬을 구하였다. 유한요소법에 의한 해석치는 실험치와 잘 일치하였다. 본 논문에서 제시한 프로그램을 사용하여, 스프링 강성과 응력을 예측할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
