Analytical study on the tide propagation characteristics in tidal rivers (감조하천의 조석전파 특성에 관한 해석적 연구(금강을 중심으로))

  • For investigation of the interaction of tide and river flow, the derived equations are solved analytically using the approximation method of perturbation. The convective inertia and nonlinear bottom friction terms are included in the derivations. The harmonic analysis is applied to decompose the complicated interaction of the freshwater discharge with various constituents of tide into its individual interaction with each constituent. In this study, four main constituents(M2, S2, Kl, 01) are included. The relations of dimensionless parameters of the tide, especially the dimensionless damping modulus, are then determined for each solution. The results show that analytical solution of dimensionless damping modulus underestimates the measured value obtained from harmonic analysis. Results of water level obtained by applying the analytical model to a tidal reach of the Keum River in the years 1981 and 1982 show very good agreement with those obtained from the harmonic analysis.

Distribution of large jar coffin on Location Characteristics of the Jar Coffins in the Yeongsan River Basin (영산강 유역 옹관묘의 입지특성으로 본 대형옹관의 유통)

  • The objective of this study is to find out geomorphological characteristics of historical ruins where people produced and consumed large jar coffins excavated in the Yeongsan river basin using Fluvio-Marine Plains from detailed soil map. For this purpose, we chose the 21 consumption sites. The results are as follows. 21 consumption sites located in the region of upper limit of tidal internal in Yongsan River and tributary rivers. Among these, 18 Consumption sites has high accessibility with Fluvio-marine plains. This means that Consumption remains of Yongsan River basin have been located to area available for distribution from production sites.

  • 상류의 만경강과 동진강을 포함하여 공사가 진행 중에 있는 새만금 사업의 결과로 조성될 새만금 담수호 그리고 호소 외해역에 대한 총체적인 수질관리를 위하여 일차적으로 하천수계의 수질 연속관측과 부영양화 평가를 위하여 해역에서 수질분석이 실시되었다. 수치모형의 적용성을 평가하기 위하여 기존에 만경강에 대해 적용한 정적 수질모형인 QUAL2E 의 검토도 있었다. 종합적인 수질관리에는 하천에서뿐만 아니라 하구에서 공히 이용될 동적인 모형의 필요성이 대두되었다. 연속관측 자료를 통하여 분석된 자료는 감조구간에 적용된 1차원 동적수질모형 거동과 유사성을 보여, 향후 새만금 수계의 수질관리에는 동적모형의 확장이 필연적임을 재확인할 수 있었다. 인근해역에서 분석된 수질 분포는 특히 만경강 하구에서 부영양화가 매우 강하게 나타나 현재 일대 해역에서뿐만 아니라 만경강 상류의 유입 영향으로 향후 조성되는 새만금 담수호의 부영양화의 가능성도 배제할 수 없는 것으로 나타나 수질저하를 예방하기 위한 지속적인 수질관리 연구가 필요한 것으로 판단되었다.

  • The tidal river is a river affected by tide, which causes the water level to rise and fall two times everyday periodically. The local velocity across the river could be very fast because of the cross-sectional characteristics of the river even though it's not a rainy season. Therefore extreme local scour could take place around hydraulic structures such as piers and caissons due to backward flow velocity. For the construction of pier foundation of Ilsan-bridge In the Han River, the field observations were performed to get the velocity and water level. The numerical analysis was performed by HEC-RAS(UNET). The relationship between measured maximum velocity and calculated mean velocity is achieved, which is used to estimate the velocity and water level as the construction is proceeding. Countermeasures for scour were designed with the results of the hydraulic analysis to avoid potential damage during construction work. According to the results of monitoring, the velocity increase after temporary road embankment was negligible, from which it is considered that the degradation of main channel compensated for the constriction of cross-section by embankment.

  • The purpose of this study is to offer the basic data of the tidal river development program by grasping the diffusion between the high density-sea water and the low density-fresh water in the tidal river. The tidal range of Hyungsan river which flows at Youngil bay in Pohang was selected to analysis the phenomenon of density current. The results obtained are as follows ; The tide of Youngil bay was one time a day, 0.104m in high tide difference and 0.085m in mean tidy difference. The change of sea level by tide was negligible. The volume of reserved water by sea water was $2,700,000m^3$ and available water of irrigation was $1,200,000m^3$ that salt density is below $750{\mu}{\mho}/cm$ out of total volume. Salt intrusion phenomenon by density current was a little water level change, however, it become a salt wedge type by the much salt invasion during the spring tide and it makes a well-mixed type by the retreating salt wedge during the neap tide. As long as there were some density differences between sea water and fresh water, net upstream flow was existed along the bottom of water way from the estuary to the upstream channel.

  • 1986년 한강종합개발사업으로 대규모 준설이 실시되고, 수위가 낮아지면서 발생한 문제점을 해결하고자, 1988년 김포대교 직하류 지점에 신곡수중보를 건설하였다. 당시 수중보의 설치목적은 취수시설 유지를 위한 수위유지가 주요기능이었으나, 30년이 지난 지금 생활용수 취수시설은 잠실 수중보 상류로 모두 이전하였고, 농업용수와 일부 공업용수 등의 일부 시설만이 남아 있어 신곡수중보 시설의 필요성 및 현재 기능에 대한 재평가가 필요한 시점이다. 신곡수중보 철거시 변화하는 한강 본류의 수위를 모의하기 위해 수리학적 모형인 HEC-RAS를 이용한 부정류 모의를 실시하였다. 모형의 보정을 위해 저수기를 대표하는 2014년 4월부터 5월까지 45일간과 풍수기를 대표하는 2014년 8월부터 9월까지 45일간을 모의하였다. 조위영향을 받고 있는 강화대교 관측수위를 기점수위로 선정하고, 팔당댐 유량을 유량조건으로 모의하였으며, 본류구간의 전류, 행주대교, 한강대교 지점의 실측수위와 모의결과는 잘 일치하는 것으로 나타났다. 신곡수중보 철거시 평가를 위해 팔당댐 방류량이 최소가 되는 조건과 한강의 갈수량, 저수량, 계획홍수량 등 유량조건 변화에 따른 한강 본류수위를 비교하였다. 보 철거시 서해안의 조위영향이 잠실수중보 직하류지점까지 영향을 미치고, 일시적인 수위하강 현상이 발생하는 것으로 모의되었다. 보 철거에 의해 감조하천으로 변화되는 구간에서는 전반적인 유속이 증가하여, 현재 문제가 되고 있는 신곡수중보 직상류 및 지천 합류부 주변의 퇴적문제와 수질 문제개선에 도움을 줄 것으로 예상된다. 또한 신곡수중보 상류지역에서 잠실수중보 하류까지 발생하는 수위변화와 수면폭변화는 간조대 형성에 유리한 조건을 제공하여 한강변의 퇴적지 면적 증가 및 생태계 서식처 제공에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다. 다만 신곡수중보 하류지역의 수위는 현재보다 전반적인 상승이 예상되어 장항습지 면적이 일부 감소할 것으로 예상되지만, 홍수시 침식 및 퇴적이 가장 활발히 발생하므로 하상변동 등에 대한 면밀한 평가가 필요하다. 또한 홍수기 신곡수중보 구조물에 대한 평가 결과에서는 철거 시 한강 본류의 하천 수위가 일부 하강하는 것으로 모의되어 하천을 횡단하는 구조물이 홍수위 상승에 기여한다고 판단되므로 대안마련을 위한 종합적인 평가가 필요하다.

  • 서해안은 최대 조석 차 9 m 이상의 세계적으로 손꼽히는 반일조 지역이므로 염수가 신곡수중 보까지 치고 올라오는 것으로 알려져 있으나 한강 하구부에서의 흐름 및 염도분포 해석에 관한 연구는 지형적 군사적 특성 상 많이 진행되지 못했다. 본 연구에서는 2차원 하천해석 프로그램인 RAMS를 적용하여 신곡수중보 하류로부터 유도지점까지의 염도 분포 및 염수 길이를 해석하고 경험식을 이용해 수치모의 결과를 검증하였다. 염수가 최상류까지 치고 올라갈 수 있는 조건으로 최대조위와 최소유량을 가지는 시점을 택해 염도분포 농도를 계산하였으며 하류단인 유도지점의 염도를 인천검조소 실측값으로부터 전이하기 위해 이송분산방정식의 연속주입 해석해를 이용하였다. 염도분포의 최선단부는 장항 IC 부근으로 최대 역류 발생 위치와 같은 지점이었으며 정상염수 쐐기 경험식에 의해 염수의 길이를 해석한 결과와도 일치하였다.

Unsteady Flow Analysis on Flood Characteristics in KEUM River Downstream (금강 하류 홍수의 부정류 해석)

  • KEUM River downstream has some characteristics in which the dowunstream is affected with tidal motion, the several tributaries are forming a dendritic river system, and the channel cross-sections are irregular. The flood in this downstream can now be analyzed by the hydrological flood routing methods and under the assumption regarding the dendritic river system as a single reach. In this study the river system was used for the flood routing. The flood records which were measured in 1978 and 1987 were applied for calibration and verification of the unsteady flow model respectively. The results show that the flood at KANG-KYONG station was not affected with the tidal motion when the discharge at KONG-JU station exceeded about 5, 000$m^3$/sec, and that the bottle neck at IP-PO station intercepted the tidal influences.

  • Hydraulic model was developed to analyze the complex flow due to channel structures, tide, and tributaries in the lower Han river and Imjin river. DWOPER-2K model which can automatically process the data transformation in the model was developed as the 1-D hydraulic routing model. Observed data in tidal zone and the recent channel geometry data were collected for hydraulic model. And the flow over the Jamsil and Singok submerged weir was analyzed properly and roughness coefficient was optimized to each regions and each discharges. By the results of verification of the model, the model developed in this study may contribute to improvement of the accuracy of flood forecasting and channel management because this model can efficiently and properly analyze the various kind of flow occurred in the region of the lower Han river and Imjin river.

Combination Effects of Large Dam and Weirs on Downstream Habitat Structure: Case Study in the Tamjin River Basin, Korea (대형 댐과 농업용 보가 하류 서식처 특성에 미치는 영향 연구: 탐진강 유역을 대상으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the long-term habitat morphological alteration resulting from a large dam and weirs in the Tamjin River. To achieve this, we carried out a hydrograph analysis and a substrate size distribution analysis. We also estimated the channel width, bar area and vegetation encroachment using aerial photographs taken before and after the construction of the dam and weirs. The result of the hydrological analysis showed that flooding downstream was greatly reduced with small peaks occurrence after the dam construction. Interestingly, normal hydrographs in the main channel appeared just after tributary conjunction. There was a similar pattern in the substrate size analysis. Despite coarsened substrate just downstream of the dam site, more sand appeared again after introduction of the tributary. However, there was an increase in the bar area downstream of the dam's channels with most bars covered with vegetation. The channel width increased at the upper area of weirs through impoundment, but decreased downstream because of vegetation encroachment. This study indicate that unregulated tributary plays an important role in restoring hydro-physical habitat conditions in mainstream channels below a large dam. However, numerous weirs could be a causal factor to accelerate habitat deterioration in the dam downstream channels.
