  • The purposes of this study were to investigate knowledge, attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavior control, behavioral intention, and compliance of standard precautions (SPs) in healthcare-associated infection (HAI) control among nursing students and to identify influencing factors for SPs compliance in HAI control. A descriptive correlation study was conducted. Participants were 223 nursing students recruited from three universities in a metropolitan city. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires. On average, 87.0% of the knowledge questions were answered correctly. The mean SPs compliance score was 4.30 out of 5. There was no significant correlation between SPs knowledge and compliance. There were statistically significant correlation between SPs compliance and attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavior control and behavior intention. Perceived behavior control and behavior intention were significant predictors for SPs compliance among nursing students and these two variables explained 21.9% variance of SPs compliance among nursing students. Although, nursing students' SPs knowledge and compliance were acceptable level, their perceived behavior control was relatively low. SPs compliance among nursing students can be enhanced by increasing their behavior intention and perceived behavioral control. Education program for SPs in HAI control for nursing students which is designed with appropriated educational strategies is need to be developed and evaluated to enhance their capacity to deal effective and safe clinical practice.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of Simulation-based Chest Tube Drainage Management Nursing Education on the Nursing Students' Response to Scenario Experiences, Confidence in Learning, and Problem Solving Abilities. This study was performed with a one-group pretest-posttest design, and a total of 133 junior nursing students have participated in the research (31 teams of simulation-based education). According to the results of the study, most of the students have shown a positive response to the scenario experience after the simulation training, while their confidence in learning and problem-solving skills have improved significantly. This proves that simulation-based training using simulators can be very effective in practical nursing training. It is expected that this research could make a meaningful contribution to improving the overall quality of field-oriented practical training and clinical practice.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of nursing professional attitude and employment strategy on graduate nursing students core fundamental nursing education program, after applied the core fundamental nursing education program for one semester. There were 165 subjects who were surveyed from June 23 to 24, 2016. The mean score of the core fundamental nursing education program satisfaction was $3.99({\pm}0.48)$. The mean score of nursing professional attitude was $3.77({\pm}0.49)$ and that of employment strategy was $3.28({\pm}0.49)$. The nursing professional attitude related to campus life satisfaction n(p=0.004), employment preparation(p=0.002), factors affecting employment(p=0.005), and employment strategy related with motivation for entering(p=0.018), average credits(p<0.001), employment preparation(p<0.001), information route of employment(p=0.048) showed statistical significance. A significant and positive correlation was found between nursing professional attitude and employment strategy(r=0.472, p<0.001). Nursing professional attitude(${\beta}=0.462$, p<0.001) was found to be an influential variable in core fundamental nursing education programs. The regression model explained 29% of the core fundamental nursing education program(F=17.79, p<0.001). In conclusion, nursing students' nursing professional attitude was related to employment strategy. To increase the core fundamental nursing skills, it is necessary to develop a practical education program and institutional strategies to establish a nursing professional attitude and strengthen employment strategy.

  • This study was conducted to examine the effects of a gerontological nursing clinical practice course using action learning on undergraduate nursing students. The subjects were 75 undergraduate nursing students from Y University. Data were analyzed using SPSS/Win 21.0. There were significant improvements in problem solving (t=3.58, p<.001) and communication (t=4.15, p<.000) in the experimental group compared to the control group. This study provides evidence that gerontological nursing courses improve undergraduate nursing students' problem solving and communication skills. Accordingly, this course would be a useful teaching and learning method in nursing programs of outcome based curriculum.

  • This study was performed to examine the effect of convergence-based simulation education on the problem solving ability and self-efficacy and confidence of core fundamental nursing skill performance for nursing students. A non equivalent control group post-test only design was utilized(experimental group(n=97), control group (n=87)). Data were analyzed using independent t-test, Chi-square test and Pearson's correlation. The scores of the problem solving ability(t=-2.04, p=.043) and confidence of core fundamental nursing skill performance(t=5.31, p<.001) were higher than those of the experimental group than control group. It is necessary to find ways to iterative and convergent research that verifies the continuous development and effectiveness of various courses.

  • This study is a descriptive research study to investigate the effect of core basic nursing practice education on clinical competence of nursing students. The data was collected from 169 3rd and 4th grade students in the Department of Nursing, College of Nursing, G province. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, multiple regression. Core experience is negatively correlated with performance confidence (r=.446, p<.001) was negatively correlated with clinical performance (r=-.206, p=.001). It was found to have a negative correlation with (r=-.346, p<.001). In this study, the factors affecting clinical performance were self-confidence (${\beta}=-.317$, p<.001), and clinical performance was 11.3%. Therefore, effective practical education program for improving clinical performance is needed for smooth practical education of nursing students.

  • The aim of this study was to identify the influencing factors of nursing student' communication competence and practice stress on practice satisfaction in psychiatric nursing practice. The subjects of the study were 237 fourth-year nursing students. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were performed using the SPSS/WIN 24.0 program. As a result of the study, communication competence was positively related with practice satisfaction, and practice stress were negatively related with practice satisfaction. In regression analysis, Role model, communication competence, major satisfaction, and associated education were confirmed as the predictive factors of psychiatric nursing practice satisfaction. It is required to develop teaching and learning methods to increase student satisfaction in psychiatric nursing practice.

  • This study is aimed at improving nursing students' broad understanding and positive attitude toward the elderly by examining basic data on prejudice, social distand and behavior for nursing students who should play a key role in caring for the elderly. We want to find a way to implement it. The subject of this study was a survey of 145 nursing students located in J-city, Gyeongnam, and the IBM SPSS 21.0 program was used for data analysis. To summarize the study results, the subjects' behavior toward the elderly was negatively correlated with prejudice aganinst the elderly(r=-.171, p=.040), and positively correlated with social distance(r=.387, p<.001). Relationship, social distance an prejudice toward the elderly showed a positive correlation(r=.171, p=.040). Prejudice toward the elderly, social distance, and positive behavior toward the elderly are important factors for nursing students who should play a key role in nursing care for the elderly in an aging society. Therfore, a study on differences among nursing students by region should be conducted in the future.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate Stress Coping Type, Professor-student Interaction, Major Satisfaction on Life Stress of Nursing Students. The data were collected using questionnaire from 146 nursing students, May 27 to May 30, 2018 at a college in the J city. The analysis of the data was done through SPSS 20.0/window statistical analysis by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. Upon examining the correlation between Life Stress and Professor-student Interaction, Major Satisfaction the correlation was significant. The result of the multiple regression indicates the Professor-student Interaction(β=-.34, p<.001) predict 29.5%(F=9.70, p<.001). Based on the results of the study, it is expected to be used as basic data for various programs to improve professor - student interaction of nursing students.
