Factors Affecting on Nursing Service Quality of Small and Medium-sized Hospital Nurses (중소병원 간호사의 간호서비스 질에 미치는 영향요인)

  • A descriptive study was attempted to identify the factors affecting of nursing organization culture, communication competence, and professionalism on nursing service quality of small and medium-sized hospital nurses. The study were 166 nurses from hospital nurses located in G metropolitan city, and the data collection period was from August 22 to August 30, 2019. Data were analyzed PASW 18.0 program. As a result, the factors affecting on nursing service quality were professionalism(𝛽=.485, p<.001), communication competence(𝛽=.354, p<.001), hierarchy-oriented organization culture(𝛽=.154, p<.01). The adequacy of the multiple regression model was very significant at the F statistic 64.75(p<.001), explanatory power of 54.6%. Based on this study, it can be useful as basic data for exploring ways to improve nursing service quality and developing nursing intervention programs.

Organizational Culture and Organizational Support as Factors Affecting the Innovative Behaviors of General Hospital Nurses (종합병원간호사의 혁신행동 영향요인에 관한 연구: 간호조직문화와 조직지원을 중심으로)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of organizational culture and organizational support on the innovative behavior of general hospital nurses. Methods: The participants in this study were 356 nurses, working in hospitals in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Gangwon Provinces, and Daejeon City. Data were collected from June to August, 2012. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection and data was analyzed using the SPSS/WIN program. Results: The organizational culture positively correlated with innovative behavior. The most significant predictors of innovative behavior were age, organizational support and hierarchy-oriented culture. Conclusion: These findings suggest that nurses' organizational culture and organizational support were linked to innovative behavior. Management-level workers in these hospitals should have the skills and strategies to develop nurses' innovative behavior and increases nurses' recognition of organizational support to achieve high performance through innovation.

Mediating Effects of Empowerment, Job Stress, and Organizational Commitment in Relation-oriented Nursing Organization Culture and Turnover Intention of Clinical Nurses (병원간호사의 관계지향 간호조직문화와 이직의도 간의 관계에 있어서 임파워먼트, 직무 스트레스, 조직몰입의 매개효과)

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to analyze the mediating effects of empowerment, job stress, organizational commitment and relation-oriented nursing organization culture on turnover intention of clinical nurses. Methods: Participants selected for the final analysis were 382 nurses working in 4 general hospitals. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics Pearson correlation analysis (SPSS/WIN 17.0), and Path analysis (AMOS 18.0). Results: The study results are as follows: relation-oriented nursing organizational culture had no direct effect but had an indirect effect on nurses' turnover intention through empowerment, job stress, and organizational commitment, while job stress and organizational commitment had direct effects on turnover intention. The results also showed that empowerment had strong effect on organizational commitment, but job stress had very weak effect. Empowerment had an effect on turnover intention. Conclusion: These results indicate that establishment of relation-oriented nursing organization culture is imperative if clinical nurses' turnover intention is to be decreased.

Factors Associated with Patient Safety Care Activity among Nurses in Small-Medium Sized General Hospitals (중소병원 간호사의 환자안전 간호활동 영향 요인)

  • This study was conducted to provide data for the development of health program to promote patient safety nursing activities by analyzing the effect of perception of importance of patient safety management, perceptions of patient safety culture and organizational communication on patient safety nursing activities in small & medium hospital nurses. Data collection was conducted from February 8 to 15, 2019. A total of 202 questionnaires were administered to nurses who have worked for more than six months in three small and medium hospitals. The perception of importance of patient safety management of the subjects was $3.60{\pm}.49$, perception of patient safety culture was $3.39{\pm}.41$, organizational communication was $3.29{\pm}.45$ and patient safety nursing activities was $4.08{\pm}.50$. The patient safety nursing activities was related to perception of importance of patient safety management(r=.597, p<.001), perception of patient safety culture(r=.626, p<.001), organizational communication(r=.559, p<.001), there was a significant positive correlation. Perception of importance of patient safety management(${\beta}=.258$, p=.001), perception of patient safety culture(${\beta}=.323$, p<.001) and organizational communication(${\beta}=.160$, p=.044) had a significant effect on patient safety nursing activities(F=53.067, p<.001). The explanatory power of these variables was 43.7%.

Role of Self-Leadership in the Relationship between Organizational Culture and Informatics Competency (간호조직문화와 간호정보역량 간의 관계에서 셀프 리더십의 역할)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the moderating and mediating effects of self-leadership in the relationship between organizational culture and nurses' informatics competency. Methods: Participants in this study were 297 nurses from the cities of Busan and Ulsan. The scales of organizational culture, self-leadership and informatics competency for nurses were used in this study. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression were used for data analysis. Results: Nursing informatics competency of the participants was relatively low with a mean score 3.02. There were significant positive correlations between subcategories of perceived organizational culture, self-leadership and nursing informatics competency. Self-leadership was a moderator and a mediator between organizational culture and informatics competency. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, self-leadership promotion strategies to improve nursing informatics competency are needed.

Effect of Hospital Nurses' Perceptions of Organizational Health and Patient Safety Culture on Patient Safety Nursing Activities (병원간호사가 지각하는 조직건강과 환자안전문화가 환자안전간호활동에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the effects of organizational health and patient safety culture on nursing activities for patient safety as perceived by hospital nurses. Methods: A self-report survey was administered to staff nurses of one advanced general hospital and two general hospitals in South Korea. Of the questionnaires, 188 were analyzed. Results: Organizational health had a significantly positive correlation with patient safety culture (r=.52, p<.001) and patient safety nursing activities (r=.31, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings in this study indicate that among the factors influencing patient safety nursing activities, organizational factors were more important than individual factors, and organizational health had a big effect on patient safety nursing activities.

The Convergence Effects of Nursing Organizational Culture, Workplace Bullying, and Hospital Violence Attitude on Psychological Wellbeing among Clinical Nurses (간호조직문화, 직장내 괴롭힘, 병원폭력에 대한 태도가 간호사의 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 융합적 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between nursing organization culture, workplace bullying, hospital violence attitude, and psychological wellbeing. Data were collected from April 12, 2018 to April 23, 2018 for 107 nurses working at university hospital. The relationship between nursing organizational culture, workplace bullying, hospital violence attitude, and psychological wellbeing was analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient. The linear regression was used to identify the factors that affect the psychological wellbeing of the variables. Psychological wellbeing and workplace bullying showed a negative correlation, whereas psychological wellbeing, awareness of hospital violence attitude, innovation-oriented culture and relationship-oriented culture showed positive correlations. Relationship-oriented culture and awareness of hospital violence attitude showed 17.3% explanatory power on psychological wellbeing. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop a nursing organizational culture improvement program that can enhance the psychological wellbeing of nurses.

A Study on the Relationships among Nursing Organizational Characteristics, Types of Nursing Organizational Culture and Team Effectiveness at Operating Rooms (수술실의 간호조직특성, 조직문화 유형 및 팀 효과성과의 관계)

  • Purpose: This study was a literary investigation in the development of an effective team-raised and cultural nursing organization targeting operating room nurses. This was done by grasping organizational features, different types of nursing organizational culture and team effectiveness, and by analyzing the relationships among variables. Method: The participators were 373 nurses. The data was collected between March 10th and April 28th, 2004. SPSS Win 11.0 program was used for data analysis. Results: Results of this study were as follows: A nursing organization at operating rooms was found to have an organizational culture with the characteristic of a centralized power and hierarchy-oriented organizational culture. With respect to a relationship between operating room organizational characteristics and the types of nursing organizational culture, there was a significant correlation in relationship-oriented culture and innovation-oriented culture. In the relation between the types of operating room organizational culture and team-effectiveness, it showed a significant correlation in team-devotion, peer-groupsatisfactional perception of a team's outcome in decreasing order. Conclusion: The organizational characteristic at operating rooms was power centralization and the culture type was hierarchy-oriented. These are factors that have a negative effect on a team-effectiveness-affecting relationship-oriented culture, innovation-oriented culture and work-oriented culture.

Comparison of Job Satisfaction, Commitment to Organization, Nursing Organization Culture and Job Experience between National/Public Hospital Nurses and Private Hospital Nurses (국.공립과 사립병원 간호사의 직무만족, 조직몰입, 간호조직문화 및 이직의도 비교)

  • Purpose: This study was to analyze the differences of job satisfaction, organizational commitment, nursing organization culture and intention of separation between national/public and private hospital nurses and thereby, provide for some basic data useful to effective management of nursing human resources and improve the organizational performances. Method: The researcher sampled 464 clinical nurses working for 4 national/public hospitals and the same number of private hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The data collected from the questionnaire survey were statistically processed using the SPSS PC 12.0 program for $X^2$-test, T-test and ANCOVA. Result: 1) There was found no significant difference of job satisfaction scores between national/public hospitals and private hospitals. 2) National/public hospital nurses scored significantly higher than private hospital nurses on the organizational commitment scale. 3) There was no significant difference of nursing organization culture scores between national/public hospitals and private hospitals. 4) In the area of job experience, national/public hospital nurses scored lower than private hospital nurses, but such a difference was not significant. Conclusion: Difference between two groups was significant only in the area of organizational commitment. In terms of sub-areas, the difference between two groups was significant in professionalism conducive to job satisfaction.

The Relationship Between 7S Factors of the Nursing Organizational Culture and Organizational Effectiveness (간호 조직문화 7S 요인과 조직 유효성의 관계)

  • Purpose: The Purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between 7S factors of the nursing organizational culture and organizational effectiveness. Method: The data were gathered from the self-reported questionnaires of 717 nurses who work for eight different general hospitals located around Seoul and Kyounggi province. The period of data collection was from November 12 to December 7, 2002. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, clustering analysis, and t-test with SPSS Program were used. Result: The nurses who highly perceived 7S factors of nursing organizational culture showed higher job satisfaction and organizational commitment in comparison with the nurses who lowly perceived 7S factors of nursing organizational culture. And the nurses who highly perceived 7S factors of nursing organizational culture showed higher organizational citizenship behavior in comparison with the nurses who lowly perceived 7S factors of nursing organizational culture. Among subdimension of organizational citizenship behavior, altruism and civic virtue were significant. Conclusion: From the above results, the high group with 7S factors of nursing organizational culture has strong culture, therefore nursing organization with strong culture is very implicative to enhance the organizational effectiveness.
