  • The objective of this study was to verify the longitudinal reciprocal causal relationship between depression and the somatic symptoms of depression among adolescents through an autoregressive cross-lagged model using data from the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey. The subjects of this study included 1,968 adolescents, who participated in the second, fourth, and sixth Korean Children & Youth Panel Surveys. The results showed that both depression and the somatic symptoms of depression at a previous point in time affect depression and the somatic symptoms of depression at a later point in time. It was also found that depression at a previous point in time has a cross-lagged effect on the somatic symptoms of depression at a later point in time, implying that more severe depression at a previous point in time leads to increased severity of somatic symptoms at a later point in time. It was found that the somatic symptoms of depression at a previous point in time have a cross-lagged effect on depression at a later point in time, indicating that more severe somatic symptoms of depression at a previous point in time lead to increased severity of depression at a later point in time. This study is significant in that it provides baseline information about nursing interventions for adolescent mental health.

  • This study was a qualitative study performed to understand the nature and structure of the suicide attempt process experienced by maladjustment soldiers. The survey participants targeted 10 soldiers who entered 'Camp Green' due to lack of duty by the 00 Corps of ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ Prefecture. Data were collected by individual in-depth interviews from October 2016 to September 2017 and analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological method. The suicide attempt process by maladjusted soldiers was delineated into four categories such as 'A prison without bars', 'Walk on eggshells', 'A pretentious series of life', and 'A life of desperation'; 9 theme clusters; and 25 themes. As a result, maladjusted soldiers had a generally negative experience related to military culture. Soldiers who fail to adapt to military culture will show extreme behavior unless they are able to overcome their depression. Unless specific understanding of the suicide attempt process is attained, the suicide prevention policies of mission-maladjusted soldiers will be ineffective. The results of this study hope to serve as the basis for a suicide prevention and nursing intervention program.

The participants were 134 patients from two major general hospitals and two dialysis center located in J city. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires and physiological index. Data analysis was done by using SPSS WIN 18.0 program for one-way ANOVA, independent t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. This study showed a negative correlation between basic psychological need and uncertainty(r=--.464, p<.001), depression(r=-.422, p<.001). In addition, relationships and physiological index were Positively correlated. The uncertainty(${\beta}=-.345$), depression(${\beta}=-.279$), physiological index(${\beta}=-.117$) have a 29% explanatory power for the basic psychological need in hemodialysis patients. Physiological index, uncertainty and depression in turn influenced the basic psychological needs of hemodialysis patients. It is necessary to develop nursing strategies and programs to reduce disease uncertainty and depression in order to increase self-deterministic health behavior through autonomy, competence and relationship satisfaction.

This study was performed as secondary analysis using the data from the 2015 Korean Social Psychological Anxiety Examination Survey. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and pathway analysis. As a result, Stress, social support, aged preparation, self-esteem, anxiety, depression and QOL showed significant correlation. Anxiety was directly affected by stress(.21, p=.009) and social support(-.05, p=.046). Depression was directly affected by stress(.28, p=.016), social support(-.10, p=.008) and self-esteem(-.38, p=.039). Both anxiety(-.16, pp=.009) and depression(-.17, p=.011) had effect on QOL but depression was mediated by anxiety in affecting to QOL. Anxiety and depression of middle aged women affect to QOL and QOL is affected by depression via anxiety. • This study purposed to verify the effects of knee balance taping therapy on knee pain and knee range of motion in the elderly with knee pain. The Quasi-experimental design, nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest was used in this study. Data collected from December 5 to 10, 2014. The participants were older than 60 with knee pain visiting senior community centers. Non-medicated elastic tapes were applied around the knee in the experimental group(n=21) and were not applied in the control group(n=19). Knee pain and range of motion were measured 3 times (before, after 1 hour, after 24 hours). Data were analyzed using ${\chi}^2$ test, Fisher's exact test, Mann-Whitney test, t-test, Repeated measure ANOVA with the SPSS version 21.0 program. The experimental group showed significantly decreased knee pain (F=34.03, p<.001) and increase in knee range of motion (F=7.83, p=.006). The results of this study confirm that knee balance taping therapy is an effective intervention for reducing pain and improving range of motion in elderly with knee pain.

  • This study used a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design to develop an information provision program for arteriovenous fistula and angioplasty patients and to examine the effects of the information provision program offered by operating room nurses. The research subjects were selected trough convenience sampling who had come to hospitals to have an arteriovenous fistula and angioplasty surgery, and an experimental group and a control group of 40 persons. The information provision program consisted of two sessions, each conducted on the day of surgery and after surgery. The content included surgery information, pain management after surgery, management of dialysis blood vessels, how to handle emergency, and management of complications. The results of the study showed that the experimental group, which was offered an information provision program by nurses, a decrease in trait and state anxiety and an increase in self-efficacy on a statistically significant level. In conclusion, the information provision program provided by operating room nurses helped to reduce anxiety in arteriovenous fistula and angioplasty patients and increase their self-efficacy. This will improve end-stage renal disease patients' self-management ability after surgery, and thus, contribute to improving the prevention of complications and the level of self-nursing care.
