A Research on the improvement scheme for manufacturing bronze warm forging die through environment-friendly workshop (황동제 온간단조용 금형제작과 환경친화형 작업장 개선에 관한 연구)

  • In the process of warm forging, billet is heated up to $800^{\circ}C$ and located in the upper part of die block impression. The scattered oxidized scale may cause workers burn and shortening of die life sticking to the die block impression. The separating materials sprayed in die block cause harmful dust, harmful mist, fume, and bad odor which contaminate workshop environment. The process is classified as one of the avoided jobs and make the planned output achievement difficult. Development of an elimination device to clear out the contaminating materials in the workshop and improvement of the unsatisfactory maintenance method to fix the abrasion of die block impression which delays the dead line, cost increases needs to be developed. In this research, I tried to solve the problems caused in warm forging of bronze pipe joint such as the billet heating process, die maintenance, and manufacturing cost through improvement of warming forging manufacturing method and die maintenance method and eliminating harmful gas which will make the workshop more environment friendly.

자기펄스압축성형법 및 방전 플라즈마 소결법의 연속공정을 이용한 $95%Bi_2Te_3-5%Bi_2Se_3$ 소결체제조 및 열전특성평가

  • 열전재료는 열과 전기에너지의 상호 변환이 가능한 재료로 이를 이용한 응용제품의 개발이 크게 주목을 받고 있으며, 특히 $Bi_2Te_3$계 합금의 경우 상온에서 가장 우수한 성능지수를 가지는 재료로 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그러나 기존의 $Bi_2Te_3$계 합금은 일방향응고법으로 제조되어 많은 시간과 비용을 필요로 하고, 특히 C축의 Van der Waals 결합으로 인해 기계적 강도가 약하다는 단점이 있었다. 최근 분말야금법을 이용하여 기계적강도를 높이고, 격자산란에 의한 열전도도의 감소로 성능지수를 높일수 있는 방법들이 제시되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 급속응고공정인 가스분무법을 이용하여 n-type의 $95%Bi_2Te_3-5%Bi_2Se_3$분말을 제조하였고, 이 재료의 경우 성형조건에 따라 조직이 쉽게 변하기 때문에 이를 제어하기 위해 단시간동안 고압으로 성형가능한 자기펄스압축성형법(Magnetic Pulsed Compaction)을 이용하여 성형체를 제조하였다. 제조된 성형체는 밀도를 증가시키고 결정립성장을 억제시킬수 있는 방전플라즈마소결법(Spark Plasma Sintering)을 이용하여 소결체로 제조되었으며, 각각의 공정이 열전성능에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. OM (Optical Microscope) 및 SEM (Scaning Electric Microscope)을 이용하여 미세구조를 관찰하였고 XRD (X-Ray Diffraction)를 이용하여 상의 변화를 분석하였으며, 상온에서 경도를 측정함으로서 공정조건에 따른 기계적강도를 비교하였다. Seebeck계수는 시편의 양단에 온도차를 주어 발생하는 기전압을 측정하여 계산하였고, 전기비저항은 4point probe방법으로 측정하였다. 전하이동도 및 전하농도는 Hall측정으로부터 구하였고 열전도도를 측정하여 종합적인 열전성능을 평가하였다.

Spferical fine ZnO Particles prepared from zinc nitrate by Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis technique (초음파 분무 열분해법에 의해 질산아연용액으로부터 구형의 ZnO 미분말 제조)

  • The synthesized ZnO powder was prepared by spray pyrolysis method using ultrasonic vibrator. The starting solutons were the aqueous solution of $Zn(NO_3)_2\cdot6H_2O$. The concentration was prepared 1M, O.5M, O.25M, and O.lM. The Nz carrier gas was 2.3cm$\cdot{sec}^{-1}$. The prepared powder from the $Zn(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$ aqueous solution was Zine oxide with hexagonal structure. The shape of prepared powder was fine size, narrow size distribution, agglomerate-free, nearly sphere particle. Also, the particle size was about $ 0.28-0.61\mum$.

Effect of Heat Treatment on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties for Al-Si Alloyed Powder Material by Gas Atomizing and Hot Extrusion Process (가스 분무 공정에 의해 제조된 Al-Si 합금 분말 압출재의 열처리에 의한 미세조직 및 기계적 특성 변화)

  • The microstructural and mechanical properties of Al-Si alloyed powder, prepared by gas atomization fallowed by hot extrusion, were studied by optical and scanning electron microscopies, hardness and wear testing. The gas atomized Al-Si alloy powder exhibited uniformly dispersed Si particles with particle size ranging from 5 to $8{\mu}m$. The hot extruded Al-Si alloy shows the average Si particle size of less than $1{\mu}m$. After heat-treatment, the average particle size was increased from 2 to $5{\mu}m$. Also, mechanical properties of extruded Al-Si alloy powder were analyzed before and after heat-treatment. As expected from the microstructural analysis, the heat-treated samples resulted in a decrease in the hardness and wear resistance due to Si particle growth. The friction coefficient of heat-treated Al-Si alloyed powder showed higher value tough all sliding speed. This behavior would be due to abrasive wear mechanism. As sliding speed increases, friction coefficient and depth and width of wear track increase. No significant changes occurred in the wear track shape with increased sliding speed.

빗각 증착을 이용한 알루미늄 박막의 구조 제어

  • 빗각 증착은 입사 증기가 기판에 수직하게 입사하는 일반적인 공정과는 다르게 증기가 기판의 수직선과 $0^{\circ}$ 이상의 각을 갖는 증착 방법을 의미한다. 빗각 증착으로 코팅층의 구조를 제어하기 위해서는 기판에 입사되는 코팅 물질의 증기가 일정한 각도를 유지해야한다. 공정 압력이 높아서 증기의 자유행로가 짧아지면 기판에 도달하는 코팅 물질이 일정한 각도를 유지하지 못하기 때문에 코팅층의 구조제어가 어렵고 일반적인 코팅 공정과 유사한 구조의 코팅층을 얻게 된다. 빗각 증착을 공정 압력이 비교적 낮은 전자빔 증착이나 열 기상증착 등의 코팅 공정에서 실시하는 이유이다. 본 연구는 공정 압력이 ${\sim}10^{-3}$ torr로 비교적 높은 스퍼터링 공정에서 빗각 증착을 실시하여 코팅층의 구조제어가 가능한지를 확인하였다. 실험에 사용된 물질은 알루미늄이었으며 빗각은 $0{\sim}90^{\circ}$를 사용하였다. 실험 결과 빗각의 크기가 $60^{\circ}$ 이하에서는 알루미늄 박막의 구조 변화를 관찰하지 못했으며 $45^{\circ}$와 같은 특정한 빗각에서 밀도가 높은 코팅층을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 높은 밀도를 갖는 알루미늄 박막은 강판의 부식을 방지하기 위한 보호막으로 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단되며 염수분무시험 결과 200시간 이상의 높은 적청 발생 시간을 보였다. $60^{\circ}$ 이상의 빗각으로 코팅된 알루미늄 박막에서 독립적으로 형성된 주상정을 관찰할 수 있었다. 빗각의 크기가 $90^{\circ}$로 스퍼터링 타겟과 기판을 수직하게 위치시켜도 알루미늄 박막이 코팅되는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며 일정한 각도를 가지는 주상정을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이러한 주상정의 알루미늄은 비교적 큰 표면적을 가지고 있기 때문에 가스 센서 등 다양한 응용분야에 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다. 앞서 설명한 실험결과와 같이 스퍼터링과 같이 공정 압력이 비교적 높은 공정에서도 빗각 증착을 이용한 코팅층의 구조 제어가 가능하다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Synthesis and Characterization of (AgSbTe2)15(GeTe)85 Thermoelectric Powder by Gas Atomization Process (가스분무공정을 이용한 (AgSbTe2)15(GeTe)85 열전분말의 제조 및 특성평가)

  • In this study, p-type $(AgSbTe_2)_{15}(GeTe)_{85}$: TAGS-85 compound powders were prepared by gas atomization process, and then their microstructures and mechanical properties were investigated. The fabricated powders were of spherical shape, had clean surface, and illustrated fine microstructure and homogeneous $AgSbTe_2$ + GeTe solid solution. Powder X-ray diffraction results revealed that the crystal structure of the TAGS-85 sample was single rhombohedral GeTe phase, which with a space group $R_{3m}$. The grain size of the powder particles increased while the micro Vickers hardness decreased with increasing annealing temperature within the range of 573 K and 723 K due to grain growth and loss of Te. In addition, the crystal structure of the powder went through a phase transformation from rhombohedral ($R_{3m}$) at low-temperature to cubic ($F_{m-3m}$) at high-temperature with increasing annealing temperature. The micro Vickers hardness of the as-atomized powder was around 165 Hv, while it decreased gradually to 130 Hv after annealing at 673K, which is still higher than most other fabrication processes.

Visualization of Transient Ignition Flow-field in a 50 N Scale N2O/C2H5OH Thruster (50 N급 아산화질소/에탄올 추력기의 점화 과도 유동장 가시화)

  • The combustion flowfield at the near-injector region of a 50 N scale $N_2O/C_2H_5OH$ thruster was visualized using shadowgraph technique. The explosive ignition was occurred at the design spray condition, and the expanding combustion gas quenched the flame immediately. Approximately after 83 ms from the initial ignition, the propellant spray was re-ignited, and the flame was stabilized after 23 ms elapsed. In the increased oxidizer flow rate condition, the transient pressure at the moment of ignition was smoother than explosive ignition, and the blow down phenomenon was not appeared in the same operating sequence. In addition, the flame was stabilized within 17 ms, and it is caused by improved propellants mixing before ignition.

  • A water mist system was considered as a possible alternative to a gaseous suppression system that can not prevent re-ignition after fire extinguishment for a power transformer room. This study deals with the fire suppression capability of the water mist systems. High-and low-pressure water mist systems were examined to compare efficiency of both systems. The power transformer examined in this study occupied about $7\%$ of a $10m\times10m\times$ transformer room. Full-scale suppression tests were performed for six different fire scenarios: two spray fires, three pool fires and one cascade fire. The fire suppression test results demonstrated that the high-pressure system was superior to the low-pressure system, especially considering oxygen depletion and the ambient temperature distribution.

  • An injector that uses methane gas ($CH_4$) and liquid oxygen ($LO_x$) as propellants was designed to verify the combustion characteristics of an engine that uses methane, which is one of the next-generation propellants. A swirl/shear coaxial-type injector was used, and flow analysis was performed using Fluent to determine the main design parameters of the injector. A hydraulic test was performed to understand the atomization and spray pattern characteristics of the injector. Next, a combustion test was performed at the design point to understand the ignition and combustion stability. Additional combustion tests were performed according to the O/F ratio to investigate the combustion characteristics and stabilities using the characteristic exhaust velocity ($C^*$) and fluctuation of the chamber pressure. The experimental results showed that the combustion efficiency was greater than 90%, and the pressure fluctuation was lower than 2% under all conditions.

Evaluation of EGR applicability for NOx reduction in lean-burn LPG direct injection engine (초희박 LPG 직접분사식 엔진에서 질소산화물 저감을 위한 배기재순환 적용성 평가)

  • In order to keep the competitiveness of LPG fuel for transportation fuel, the difference in fuel consumption with gasoline and cost for an aftertreatment system should be reduced with continuous development of technology for LPG engine. In the present study, spray-guided type direct injection combustion system, whose configuration is composed of direct injector in the vicinity of spark plug, was employed to realize stable lean combustion. A certain level of nitrogen oxides($NO_x$) emits due to a locally rich mixture regions in the stratified mixture. With the application of EGR system for the reduction of $NO_x$, 15% of $NO_x$ reduction was achieved whereas fuel consumption and hydrocarbon emission increased. By the application of EGR, the combustion speed reduced especially appeared at initial flame development period and peak heat release rates and increasing rates for heat release rate decreased as EGR rate increased due to the dilution effect of intake air.
