  • 엔진 밸브와 밸브시트의 마모는 엔진 성능에 영향을 미치는 가장 중요한 요소 중에 하나이다. 엔진 밸브와 밸브시트는 엔진 구동 과정에서 발생하는 고온의 배기가스, 밸브 스프링의 빠른 움직임, 엔진 폭발 과정의 고압, 균일하지 못한 냉각시스템으로 발생하는 실린더 헤드의 뒤틀림이 만들어 내는 극한 환경을 이겨내야 한다. 본 연구에서는 밸브 및 밸브시트의 마모율과 마모 메카니즘을 명확하게 규명하기 위해서 실제 자동차 엔진 내부의 조건인 온도, 밸브와 밸브시트간의 충돌, 스라이딩 등에 관한 것들을 고려하여 밸브 및 밸브시트가 충돌 시험할 수 있는 전용마모 시험기를 사용하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 시편은 현재 실차에 사용되고 있는 밸브와 밸브시트를 사용하였다. 그 종류는 STR35 밸브, STL #6 및 STL #32이다. 밸브시트는 HVS1-2 재질을 사용하였다.

Development of Relief Valves for the Domestic Gas-fired Hot Water Boilers (가정용 가스보일러 과압방지밸브의 개발 연구)

  • We have developed a new relief valve which is a safety device for the domestic gas-fired hot water boilers. The relief valve has been designed to expand the inner diameter of the inlet, the outlet and the seat of the valve considering the relief capacity, and also to separate the spring from the room heating water. Therefore, we could minimize the adhesion and/or obstruction of the inlet and the corrosion phenomena of the spring which used to be the problem of the conventional relief valves. Test results of the developed relief valve showed that the performance of the opening pressure, reseating pressure, tightness, endurance were excellent, and the operating boiler with developed relief valve was evaluated as very good. The standardization and application of the relief valve can provide the advantage of component exchange and easy maintenance and repair.

Malfunction Analysis when a EFV is Working (과류차단 밸브 작동 시 오작동에 대한 분석)

  • Currently, the government has been expanding the supply of semi-low-pressure in order to solve the problems of unsupplied area of city gas and to secure the economical efficiency of small supplied area. It is mainly supplied from the central storage tank to each household by buried piping. It is necessary to provide such a shutoff valve that can block the excess flow gas due to pipeline leak or rupture when piping is damaged by other construction. For this study, System CFD code named Flownex has been used and a component corresponding to the actual EFV was developed. We compared Flownex results with experimental data to verify the accuracy of Flownex and confirmed the error rate to be around 2%. In this study, pipeline network modeling was done by selecting the LPG supply pipeline in a village and installed the component of the EFV at each junction. We selected the longest pipeline from the main pipeline and set scenarios so that the excess flow occurs by that the pipeline is ruptured before entering the household. The excess flow occurs by the pipeline rupture and the EFV is closed. At this time, we analyzed backflow effects to the other pipeline by closing EFV.

A Study on the Strength Safety of Valve Structure for LPG Cylinder (LPG 용기용 밸브 구조물의 강도안전성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a study on the strength safety of the weak parts at Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 in the valve structure for LPG cylinder by using the finite element method. The maximum Von Mises stress of 27.5MPa was occurred at the corner edge of a valve Part 1 for the valve thickness of 1.5mm and LPG pressure of 3.5MPa. And the maximum Von Mises stresses for the valve thickness of 1.5mm and LPG pressure of 3.5MPa were 41.5MPa at Part 2 and 46.5MPa at Part 3. The FEM computed results show that the maximum Von Mises stresses at Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 are very low value of 9.2~15.5% compared with the yield strength of a copper alloy, C3604. This means that the valve thickness for LPG cylinder is so over designed for the conventional valve. Thus, this paper recommends that the thickness at Part 1 and Part 2 is reduced for a light weight of a copper valve. But, the thickness at Part 3 may be better for a thick valve as a conventional valve for high torque strength.

  • 본 논문은 단기통 4사이클 전기점화기관에서 가스교환 과정이 체적효율에 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구한 것이다. 가스교환 과정의 수학적 모델을 설정하고 수치해석을 수행한 결과 체적효율은 가스교환과정과 관련되는 밸브 개폐시기(1,2)보다는 흡배기관의 압력에 의하여 더 큰 영향을 받는 다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 실험에 있어서는 각각 밸브 개폐시기가 다른 3종류의 캠을 사용하였 으며 수치 해석결과와 실험결고가 비교적 잘 일치하였다.

Closing Characteristics of a Main Oxidizer Shut-off Valve (연소기 산화제 개폐밸브 닫힘 작동특성)

  • We study the closing characteristics of a self-sustainable poppet valve which serves as a main oxidizer shut-off valve for liquid rocket engines. Numerical analysis for predicting closing transient responses are presented and the calculated results have been verified by a comparison with experimental data. The effective area of a pilot gas discharge system and the pressure distribution of passage flow around the valve moving part are shown to be main parameters in determining the closing characteristics for dry and cryogenic conditions, respectively. Moreover, it is presented that the passage flow pressure at the valve closing moment as well as the valve closing velocity can be effectively adjusted by the appropriate employment of the pilot gas.

  • Valve leak accidents in petrochemistry plants and gas utilities cause human and property damage. The main reason why happen gas inhalation, poisoning, fire and explosion accidents is gas valve leakage. To prevent gas leakage, inspectors check the facilities in the field. And they are at risk of gas leak accidents. So we applied IoT-based risk assessment, monitoring and automatic control system. It can detect both internal and external gas leakage, do real-time monitoring of industrial valve in the plant by using hybrid sensor. As the new safety management system for industrial valve is developed, it needs method to evaluate device performance and environmental components for the system. This study is about development of method to verify performance of the explosion-proofed hybrid sensing system include gas detector and optical fiber sensor supporting wire and wireless communication.

  • Natural gas fuel has known to be very promising in terms of abundancy and economic value. Therefore it is widely treated as research topics in a variety field of production, storage and utilization. Natural gas has become one of the major sources for the power generation by using internal combustion engines(ICE). Development of natural gas fuel injection device should be preceded to realize a reliable natural gas fuel supply system for a MW class power generation reciprocating ICE. In this research, an injection valve which consists of solenoid and body part with a moving plate was designed and its dynamic performance was experimented in the engine-like environment. As a result of the experiments, linearity of flow rate was obtained and overall around 2ms of response time was observed at the pressure difference of 1bar. In addition, more than 100Liter/min(@2Hz) of gas flow rate was witnessed, which is expected to be adequate for the fuel supply system of a MW class natural gas engine.

  • 건축물 내에서 가스사용량, 가스압력 및 밸브상태 등을 점검 할 수 있는 안전기능을 갖춘 유비쿼터스 기반 지능형 가스미터를 개발하고, 이를 유선 RS-485와 무선 ZigBee(2.4GHz) 통신모듈을 탑재한 시스템 및 망을 구성하여 원격지에서 양방향으로 유비쿼터스 통신방식을 이용하여 원격검침, 가스누출검지, 지진감지에 의한 내부밸브 차단 및 개방과 위험통보등의 기능을 수행할 수 있게 하였다. 개발시제품과 데이터를 바탕으로 시스템운용 통신 토폴로지, 구현방법, 실험결과를 소개하고, 이 시스템의 보급을 통하여 가스사고 예방에 힘쓰고자 한다.
