  • Gagné proposed nine instructional events, gain attention of the students, inform students of the objectives, stimulate recall of prior learning, present the content, provide learning guidance, elicit performance(practice), provide feedback, assess performance, enhance retention and transfer for effective teaching & learning practice. Gagné's theory is widely applied in various subjects because it increases student participation and allows classes to be developed systematically. The purpose of this study is to develop a lesson plans for the 'library and information life' subjects in middle school using Gagné's nine instructional events theory, conduct actual instructions, and verify its effectiveness. The research procedure was conducted as follows. Development of lesson plan that using Gagné's theory to Section III (Information Analysis and Interpretation) of 'Library and Information Life' in middle school. Actual instruction were conducted and student survey, peer teacher assessment, and instructor self-assessment were conducted. Based on the evaluation results, a elements to revise and improve the lesson plan was presented.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop home economics(HE) teaching learning process plans by Gagne's instructional events using scaffolding of 'nutrition and meal of adolescents' unit according to the 2007 revised middle school HE curriculum. To achieve this purpose, the teaching learning process plans and worksheets using scaffolding according to Gagne's instructional event were developed for 5 periods, implemented to the 71 middle school students in Busan city, and evaluated by 21 home economics(HE) teachers and 71 middle school students. The content of the teaching learning process plans were composed of the subjects, 'impotance of nutrition and wellness', 'types of function of nutrients, 'Korean dietary reference intakes and characteristics of adolescent nutrition', 'nutrition problems, eating habits, and diet of adolescents', and 'future health and jobs'. HE teachers evaluated that the content of the teaching learning process plans were suitable to the middle school students, teacher's questions were accurate, and the teaching learning process plans were suitable, usable, and easy to implement in middle school HE class. The students who participated in the class were satisfied with the instruction by Gagne's events using scaffolding. They perceived that the contents and process of the instruction were understandable and interesting.

  • The purpose of this study was to establish and apply 'term learning strategy' for learners whose basic skill, interest, and motivation for learning is lower, and to increase the learned capabilities of subjects' 'industry introduction', required for industrial technical high school students. Another purpose was to identify when the learning strategy established was applied, its affect on how well learners understood terms in a particular unit of material, and, after instruction presented in accordance with 'term learning strategy,' evaluate the ease with which subjects understood the teacher's explanation of the unit of subject, how well they understand the main concepts of the unit of subject, and to what extent the presentation interested and motivated the subjects. The researcher established 'term learning strategy' based on the principles of Garg's "Nine Steps for Events of Instruction." The study included 35 first grade participants purposely selected from 33 classes at 1155 students in K industrial technical highschool. Data was collected via tests and surveys. Results indicated that 'term learning strategy' facilitated thorough understanding of terms and concepts related to the unit of subject, as well as a better understanding of the teacher's explanation and increased interest and motivation in learning. In addition, the "term learning strategy" increased interaction among learners in the instruction setting. Finally, implications of this study and implementation recommendations for this instructional strategy were presented.

  • Efficacy of antifungal activity on plant pathogens by compost teas fermented under different temperatures was studied. Compost teas are recently chosen by agricultural producers for the better method of controlling plant diseases under increase of public consciousness against use of chemicals for controlling the diseases. Compost tea has been intensively studied; however, understanding of compost tea is still not well developed, and temperature influence during fermentation of compost tea on its antifungal activity has not been investigated. In this study, antifungal activities of compost teas fermented at 10, 20, 30, and $40^{\circ}C$ against selected 10 pathogens were observed. From the results, antifungal activities of compost teas at 20 and $30^{\circ}C$ of fermentation-temperatures showed the strongest while the weakest activity was observed with the compost tea at $10^{\circ}C$. Change of the activity by the fermentation-temperature apparently implied that microbes in the compost tea were strongly involved in its antifungal activity.
