  • The influence of the 'well-being' trend on the every day life of our society can be found by recent books, articles, and magazines. The purpose of this study is to analyze the well-being trend and its effect on the current knitwear fashion. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; (1) The 'well-being' trend is very different from the past life style and it will be a preceding life style in 21st century. (2) The preference for organic food and the promotion of 'colorful menu' came from the 'well-being' trend. And, the yoga, zen, meditation, aroma-therapy, spa, and massage are also under the influence of 'well-being' trend. (3) The Neo-Hippie look and Neo-Vintage look are connected with the 'well-being' trend. (4) The influences of 'well-being' trend on the current knitwear fashion are shown in the hand knitting (bulky knit & crochet), twin sets including cardigans, hand crafted details, natural colors, and natural materials.

Microstructure and Microdefects of Diamond Thin Films Deposited by MPECVD (마이크로웨이브 화학증착법에 의한 다이아몬드 박막의 미세구조오 미세결함)

  • Diamond thin films were deposited on p-type (100) Si wafers using MPECVD. Prior to deposition, ultrasonic striking was done to improve density of nucleation sites with dimond powder of 40~$60\mu$m size. Then diamond thin films were deposited at $^900{\circ}C$, 40Torr and 1000W microwave power using ${CH}_{4}$ and ${H}_{2}$ gases. The purity, the morphology and the microstructur'e and microdefects of diamond thin films were characterized by Raman spectroscopy, SEM and TEM, repectively. In Raman spectroscopy the peaks of non-diamond phase increased as ${CH}_{4}$, concentration increased. In SEM, the morphology of diamond thin films varied from crystalline to cauliflower as ${CH}_{4}$, concentration increased. As ${CH}_{4}$ con centration increased, the density of defects increased, with most defects being {III} twin. ${MTP}_{5}$, were formed with five (II]) planes. As these (Ill) Planes were twinned, ${MTP}_{5}$, represented five-fold symmetry. ]n the interfaces, defects in diamond thin films fanned out from small regions implying nucleation sites.

  • P-type Si(111)기판 위에 3C-SiC박막 성장시 TMS(tetramethylsilane)유량, 반응온도, 반응압력, 가스공급방법등 다양한 성장변수에 따른 박막의 결정성변화를 연구하였다. 증착된 막은 모두 (111)방향성만을 나타내었고, free Si, C의 존재는 관찰할 수 없었다. TMS 유량 0.5 sccm에서, 1100-120$0^{\circ}C$의 반응온도에서 , 반응압력 12-50Torr 조건에서 비록 dislocation과 twin등이 발결되었으나 단결정 3C-SiC 박막을 성장시킬 수 있었으며, 박막의 결정성은 기판에 흡착된 Si-종과 C-종이migration할 수 있는 시간과 에너지에 크게 영향 받음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 SiC/Si계면에서 carbonization공정에서 관찰되는 것으로 알려진 void를 관찰할 수 있었으며, 이러한 void의 발생은 기체공급방법을 달리함으로서 제거할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

Microstructural investigation of the electroplating Cu thin films for ULSI application (ULSI용 Electroplating Cu 박막의 미세조직 연구)

  • Electroplating Cu was deposited on Si(100) wafer after seed Cu was deposited by sputtering first. TaN was deposited as a diffusion barrier before depositing the seed Cu. Electroplating Cu thin films show highly (111)-oriented microstructure for both before and after annealing at $450^{\circ}C$ for 30min and no copper silicide was detected in the same samples, which indicates that TaN barrier layer blocks well the Cu diffusion into silicon substrate. After annealing the electroplating Cu film up to $450^{\circ}C$, the Cu film became columnar from non-columnar, its grain size became larger about two times, and also defects density of stacking faults, twins and dislocations decreased greatly. Thus the heat treatment will improve significantly electromigration property caused by the grain boundary in the Cu thin films.

  • GaAs tilt grain boundaries were propared by growing GaAs epilayers on Ge bicrystals by an organometallic vapor phase epitaxy (OMVPE) method ∑ =9 tilt grain boundaries were produced when two different first-order twin boundaries interacted with one another in GaAs epilayers. Structural investigations were performed for the coherent and second-order twin boundaries of GaAs by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). Polarities of cross-boundary bondings were determined from the high-order Laue zone (HOLZ) lines in the (200) convergent beam disks : these were recorded from the two grains on either side of the boundaries, respectively, at particular diffraction conditions.

  • This paper deals with the world civil helicopter market scope, world market analysis based on the operating fleet ages, preconditions for market entry, and market forecast which are necessary for Korean industry to enter into world market. According to the analysis, the heavy single class demand is rapidly declined. The demand is moving toward the heavier class than that operated now. Korean industry had better have strategic positioning to heavy twin and light medium twin classes. A considerable amount of Korean civil helicopter based on Surion can be sold if there are appropriate efforts for price, specification, marketing strategy and so on.

BS/channeling studies on the epitaxially grown Pt(111) films on $Al_2O_3$(0001) (BS/Channeling을 이용한 Pt(111)/$Al_2O_3$(0001) 적층 생장 연구)

  • Crystallinity and structual properties of the epitaxially grown Pt films on $Al_2O_3$(0001) substrate by rf magnetron sputtering at a substrate temperature of $600^{\circ}C$ were studied by using backscattering spectrometry (BS)/channeling and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements. $MeV^4$He ion BS/channeling results showed that the channeling minimum yield of Pt film with a thickness of 3500$\AA$ was 4%. This indicates an excellent crystallinity of Pt film. When the thickness of Pt film was less than 200 $\AA$, the channeling minimum yield of Pt film increased sharply with the decrease in film thickness. The Pt layer on $Al_2O_3$(0001) substrate grew epitaxially to the direction of (111) with six-fold symmetry. Cross-sectional TEM images also showed that Pt film on $Al_2O_3$(0001) substrate consist of twinned domains to release the strain induced by the lattice mismatch and the surface roughness of the film increased at the twin boundaries where the strain was contcentrated.

Effect of SiO2 on Abnormal Grain Growth and Single Crystal Growth in BaTiO3 (BaTiO3에서 SiO2 첨가에 의한 비정상 입성장과 단결정 성장)

  • A very small amount of SiO$_2$ was locally added in sintered BaTiO$_3$ ceramics and then heat-treated at 135$0^{\circ}C$. In the region where SiO$_2$ was not added, grain growth occurred very slowly. In the region where a very small amount of SiO$_2$ was added, however, grain growth occurred very actively. After long time annealing at 135$0^{\circ}C$, abnormal grains appeared only in the part where SiO$_2$ was added and grew up to 2 cm in size. In the grown abnormal grains or single crystals, (111) double or single twins were not observed. The growth of abnormal grains or single crystals was explained by formation of liquid phase in the region where SiO$_2$ was added. These results showed that centimeter-sized BaTiO$_3$ single crystals without (111) double or single twins could be fabricated by using abnormal grain growth.

A survey on characteristics of reproduction in Jeju Thoroughbred mares (제주지역 더러브렛 말의 번식특성 조사)

  • A total of 301 Thoroughbred mares were investigated the characteristics of breeding in the local areas in Jeju during the period from February 2000 to July 2001. The pregnancy rate and foaling rate in 143 mares were 93.0%, 72.0%, respectively, and mean gestational length was 339.3 days in 2000. The pregnancy rate in 158 mares was 86.7% in 2001. Mature follicles were ovulated in right(46.0%), left(45.2%), and bilateral(7.8%) ovary. The incidence of multiple pregnancies in 158 mares between 15 days and 45 days after mating were 89.3%(single), 10.1%(twin), and 0.6%(triple). The incidence of EED was 13.3%. Also uterine cyst and fluid had an bad influence on mare's pregnancy. These results suggest that regular monitoring of the pregnancies and maintaining of good uterine condition improve the pregnancy rates and foaling rates during breeding season.

Preparation and characteristics of PP/CF/MWCNT nanocomposites (PP/CF/ MWCNT 나노복합체의 제조 및 특성평가)

  • Polypropylene(PP)/carbon fiber(CF)/multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWCNT) nanocomposites along with various CF and MWCNT contents were prepared in a Twin screw extruder. Electrical, mechanical property and morphology were investigated with a variation of CF and MWCNT contents. From the surface resistance of PP/CF/MWCNT composites, MWCNT can increase the conductivity of composites compared with PP/CF composites without MWCNT. It is suggested that MWCNT and CF can make the conductive network in the polymer matrix. Flexural modulus and Izod impact strength of the PP/CF/MWCNT composites were improved with the increase of CF contents. Morphology showed that length of CF in polymer matrix was shortened by torque during melt mixing with MWCNT. As a result of this phenomenon, the impact strength of composites was somewhat decreased.
