Objectives: Members of Korean Healthy Cities Partnership(KHCP) has increased rapidly since 2006 and adopted Active Living Environments(ALE) as common theme in 2015. Academic definition and categorization, needs assessment and operational planning for making active living environments were required from KHCP. Methods: Literatures review, survey to members of KHCP, specialist discussion and consultation with members of KHCP have been done from October of 2015 to February of 2016. Results: ALE included humane(social networks), physical and political resources. Three categories and 13 items for ALE were identified. Present actions among member cities were variable and especially immature in physical environments. Indicators for ALE were not secured stably. Requirements for policy and physical environmental approach and adolescent programme were high. Priority areas for education and technical assistance were master planning, guideline and case, program and policy development, partnership development, and networking among cities. Representative projects among member cities were somewhat different from ideal models. Conclusions: Policy and environmental approaches needs to be reinforeced systemically for members of KHCP including securing stable indicators. More education and technical assistance also needed sustainably.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of healthy persons performing a plank exercise with hip abduction and use of sling on trunk muscle activity. Methods: Twenty-three subjects participated in this study. Muscle activities of the multifidus, rectus abdominis, external oblique and internal oblique were assessed with electromyography (EMG) while the subjects performed 6 various types of plank exercises in random order. Results: There was a significant difference in multifidus and internal oblique on the supported side and the multifidus, external oblique, and internal oblique on the elevated side (p<0.05), and differences in plank methods were significantly higher in the multifidus, rectus abdominis, external oblique, internal oblique of the supported side and the rectus abdominis, external oblique and internal oblique on the elevated side (p<0.05). In addition, post-hoc analysis of the various plank methods showed that muscle activity was significantly higher during the general plank exercise compared with the knee-supported-in-sling plank exercises (p<0.05), and was significantly higher with the ankle-supported-in-sling plank exercises compared with the general plank exercise. Conclusion: There was greater trunk muscle activity with plank exercises performed with the ankle-supported-in-sling and hip abduction plank exercises compared with the general or knee-supported-in-sling plank exercises. Through this study, various plank exercises have been discovered that can be selected at different intensities for core muscle training purposes based on trunk muscle strength.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of exercise training on health-related physical fitness and osteoporosis after 12 weeks of combined training for adults with intellectual disabilities diagnosed with obesity and osteoporosis. The subjects conducted a combined training program consisting of aerobic exercise and strength training twice a week for 12 weeks. Body composition and bone mineral density were measured before exercise, 6, 12 weeks, and health-related physical fitness was measured before and after exercise. Body weight and body fat decreased after exercise and bone density increased after exercise compared to before exercise. Muscle strength, muscle endurance and flexibility were improved after exercise compared to before exercise. It was confirmed that the 12 week compound training increased the leg strength and improved the functions such as walking and running, and increased the health-related fitness and increased bone mineral density.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate whether therapeutic exercise has effectiveness on the balance and gait in older adults. Methods: 30 patients were participated in this study. To evaluate the effects of therapeutic exercise, patients were evaluated by using One leg stand test which was static balance test, Berge balance test, Functional reach test and Get up and go test which was dynamic balance test. Finally Gait pattern were assessed by using 3-dimensional gait analysis system. The assessment parameters were evaluated before and after treatment. And we received a consent form from all patients. The data were analyzed by paired t-test for compare pre and after therapeutic exercise. Results: One leg stand test was significantly increased after than before therapeutic exercise. Get Up and Go test was significantly decreased after than before therapeutic exercise. Functional Reach test was significantly increased after than before therapeutic exercise. Burge Balance test was significantly increased after than before therapeutic exercise. Stride length was significantly increased after than before therapeutic exercise. Cadence was significantly increased after than before therapeutic exercise. Velocity was significantly increased after than before therapeutic exercise. Conclusion: We thought that therapeutic exercise that is mat exercise has effectiveness on the balance and gait in older adults.
Objectives: This study aims to assess the relationships between individual, social and physical environmental correlates and physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB) in Korean children. Methods: A total of 1,134 elementary school students (512 boys, $5^{th}$ and $6^{th}$ graders) in Seoul participated in the survey including self-reported moderate and vigorous intensity PA and SB as well as demographic and psychological correlates. These data were matched them with school- and community-level environmental data from the government sources. The relationships of the multilevel correlates with PA and SE were analyzed using gender-specific hierarchical regression analysis. Results: Boys were more active than girls, but there was no gender difference in SB. Students with higher levels of self-efficacy were more likely to participate in moderate and vigorous PA. There were gender-specific associations between social and physical environments correlates and PA. Boys with higher levels of self-esteem and self-efficacy were less likely to involve in SB. Girls in the $6^{th}$ grade were more likely to involve in SB. Conclusions: In order to encourage PA and discourage SB in children, school- and community-level environmental support should be considered along with programs to improve self-efficacy and self-esteem.

Background: The purposed of this study is to examine the static and dynamic plantar foot pressure in chronic low back pain patients and normal adults. Methods: The subjects were divided into a group of 30 patients with chronic low back pain and a control group of 30 healthy persons. While static posture and dynamic posture at comfortable walking speeds, the low back pain group and the control group measured their plantar foot pressure and the trajectory of their center of pressure (COP) using the Matscan(R) system. Independent t-tests were measured to compare differences in plantar foot pressure characteristics between the left side and right side of the low back pain group and the control group. Results: In the comparison of differences in plantar foot pressure characteristics between the left side and right side of the low back pain group and the control group, the anteroposterior (AP) displacement of COP showed significant differences (p<.05). Although the low back pain group and the control group did not show any significant differences in leg length, weight distribution, mediolateral (ML) displacement of COP, static contract area, dynamic contract areas (p>.05), increases in the contract area values were shown in the hind foot in general. Conclusion: In this study, it was shown that patients with chronic low back pain were walking with short AP displacement of the COP as a compensatory action to avoid pain.

PURPOSE: Previous studies have shown that healthy young adults reduced gait velocity during texting or talking while walking. It was reported that increasing number of pedestrian accidents were related to distract the environmental attention. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of texting and texting while listening to music on gait parameters. METHODS: Texting and listening to music while walking were assessed in two dual-task condition using 35 healthy young adults. The outcome measurements were assessed in terms of spatiotemporal gait parameters in three walking conditions, namely, comfortable walking speed, walking while texting, and walking while texting and listening to music. To avoid learning effect, subjects were individually blinded to assessment schedule and space. The changes between the three walking conditions were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA. RESULTS: When comparing the two dual-task conditions with the single-task condition, it was found that dual-task interference was increased in almost gait velocity, cadence, stride length, step time, double limb support, and single limb support. In addition, walking while texting and listening to music condition negatively was affected gait speed, stride length, and step time more than the texting only condition. CONCLUSION: Walking while texting and listening to music as well as waling while texting may decrease pedestrian safety when crossing streets by diverting the person's attention away from the street environment.
Purpose: In this study, the following experiment was conducted to see how to apply the sprinter pattern in proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) and functional weight bearing exercise affected balance capabilities and weight bearing among chronic stroke patients. Methods: The subjects included 27 subjects who had been diagnosed with hemiplegia due to stroke. A total of 12 sessions was held, 3 sessions a week over 4 weeks, were provided to the groups. The control group received general rehabilitation program, and the experimental group performed sprinter pattern in PNF or functional weight bearing exercise. The weight bearing capability and static balance capability test was implemented by using Good-Balance System and Frailty and Injuries Cooperative Studies of Intervention Techniques, while the dynamic balance capability test was carried out by using Four Square Step Test and Timed "Up and Go". Results: The paretic/nonparetic side weight bearing by application of each exercise showed that there were no significant differences in variation among each groups on before exercise, after exercise, 2 weeks after exercise. Static balance test by application of each exercise showed that there were significant differences after exercise and 2 weeks after exercise. Dynamic balance test by application of each exercise showed that there were significant differences after exercise and 2 weeks after exercise. Conclusion: To put the results together, the application of sprinter pattern and functional weight bearing exercise was effective in improving static and dynamic balance capabilities. Therefore, these exercises are helpful to improve balance in patients with stroke.

Purpose: to recognized that influence of decrease low back pain, change pelvic structure and balance control on unilateral weight bearing after application on pelvic manipulation which low back pain patient in unilateral weight bearing due to pelvic imbalance. Methods: The patient with low back pain in unilateral weight bearing due to pelvic imbalance was 39year female. one subject received intervention of pelvic manipulation on sidelying position and reaching exercise on sitting position which during 2 weak at the 3 time per a weak, each 30 minutes. outcomes measured were Facia l Action Coding System(FACS), Radiograph(Lumbar-Spine Anteroposterior AP.), Pressure Scan. Results: The results of this study were summarized below : 1. FACS score were Pre: min.4 - max.6 and Post: min.2 - max.4. 2. Radiograph measured Ilium width were Pre: Lt.14cm, Rt.12.7cm and Post: Lt.13.4cm, Rt.13cm which discrepancy of Ilium height were Pre: 1cm and Post: 0.2cm. 3. Pressure scan measured Pre: Lt. 36.8%, Rt.40.2% and Post: Lt.41.3%, Rt.36.2%. Conclusion: Pelvic manipulation applied a patient with low back pain in unilateral weight bearing due to pelvic imbalance suggest that can decrease low back pain, change pelvic structure and balance control on unilateral weight bearing.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of contralateral hip adduction (CHA) on the muscle activity of lumbar stabilizers and the angle of pelvic lateral tilting during hip abduction in side lying. Twenty healthy male subjects with no medical history of lower extremity or lumbar spine disorders were recruited for the study. Subjects randomly performed preferred hip abduction (PHA) and hip abduction with contralateral hip adduction in side lying. The muscle activities of the dominant side rectus abdominis, external oblique, internal oblique, quadratus lumborum, gluteus medius, and non-dominant side hip adductor longus were measured during PHA and CHA by using a surface electromyography (EMG) system. Pelvic lateral tilting motion was measured by using a three-dimensional motion analysis system. Data on EMG and pelvic motion were collected at the same time during PHA and CHA. A paired t-test was used to compare EMG activity and the angle of pelvic lateral tilting in the two exercises. The study found that the EMG activities of all muscles were more increased significantly in CHA than PHA condition. The angle of pelvic lateral tilting was more decreased significantly in CHA than PHA condition. These findings suggest that CHA could be recommended as a hip abduction exercise for activating lumbar stabilizers and decreasing compensatory pelvic lateral tilting motion.
