Intelligent Service Agents using User Profile and Ontology (온톨로지와 사용자 프로파일을 적용한 지능형 서비스 에이전트)

  • Recently, new intelligent service frameworks, such as ubiquitous computing are proposed. So, the necessity of adaptive agent system has been increased. In this paper, we propose an intelligent service agent to help that ubiquitous computing system offer user suitable service in ubiquitous computing environment. In order to offer user suitable uT-service, an intelligent service agent mediates the gap between the context information in uT-service system, and user preference is reflected in it. Therefore, we focus on following three components; the first is suitable multi agent framework-agent communication analysis and applicable method of inference engine, the second is uT-ontologies to describe various context information-context information sharing between agents and context information understanding between agents, the third is learning method of user profile to apply in uT-service system. This approach enables us to build adaptive uT-service system to offer suitable service according to user preference.

  • Important issues emerging with the opening of the ubiquitous age are how to present ubiquitous environment and how services and access methods can be provided to users. The present research proposes a system that can provide users with useful information dynamically through intelligent multi agents in mobile environment. The system is composed of profile module, rule generation module, filtering module and service module. It was designed to find users' demands in an intelligent way based on information on users registered through the recommendation agent. We implemented an applied system and proved its performance through an experiment.

Priority-based Message Scheduling for Multi-agent System in Ubiquitous Environment (유비쿼터스 환경에서 멀티 에이전트 시스템을 위한 우선순위 기반 메시지 스케줄링 기법)

  • In ubiquitous environment the multi-agent system is effective for providing intelligent services. In this paper we introduce a new scheduling service model for improving the communication performance in the multi-agent system. It is achieved by assigning a priority to the message according to the weight of formalized ACL message and the number of messages exchanged between the agents. An experiment reveals that the proposed approach allows smaller processing time per message and turnaround time than the scheduling with the existing JADE platform. Moreover, the proposed scheme allows a scalable messaging system.

  • Ubiquitous computing requires an intelligent environment where the users do not need to be involved in the operation. The agent technology allows effective implementation of ubiquitous system, while agent platform provides efficient and stable interaction between the agents. In this paper we propose a hierarchical P2P networking approach where the messages are combined inside the agent platform and then compressed in two levels. The proposed approach capitalizes the static nature of the messages of typical context-aware applications. Experiment with an actual multi-agent system reveals that the response time and throughput are significantly improved compared to the existing scheme.

  • Ubiquitous learning has aroused great interest and is becoming a new way for foreign language education in today's society. However, how to increase the learners' initiative and their community cohesion is still an issue that deserves more profound research and studies. Emotional intelligence can help to detect the learner's emotional reactions online, and therefore stimulate his interest and the willingness to participate by adjusting teaching skills and creating fun experiences in learning. This is, actually the new concept of smart education. Based on the previous research, this paper concluded a neural mechanism model for analyzing the learners' emotional characteristics in ubiquitous environment, and discussed the intelligent monitoring and automatic recognition of emotions from the learners' speech signals as well as their behavior data by multi-agent system. Finally, a framework of emotional intelligence system was proposed concerning the smart foreign language education in ubiquitous learning.

  • Ubiquitous learning environment needs various new model of e-learning as web based education system has been proposed. The demand for the customized courseware which is required from the learners is increased. the needs of the efficient and automated education agents in the web-based instruction are recognized. But many education systems that had been studied recently did not service fluently the courses which learners had been wanting and could not provide the way for the learners to study the learning weakness which is observed in the continuous feedback of the course. In this paper we propose a multi-agent system for course scheduling of learner-oriented using weakness analysis algorithm via personalized ubiquitous environment factors. First proposed system analyze learner's result of evaluation and calculates learning accomplishment. From this accomplishment the multi-agent schedules the suitable course for the learner. The learner achieves an active and complete learning from the repeated and suitable course.

  • The role of autonomic and intelligent agents in various environments is getting more important as demand on ubiquitous computing grows. The agents exchange information using the ACL (Agent Communication Language) to autonomously solve the problems. In this paper we propose a way of efficient interoperability technique between the agent framework built based on the international standard FIPA(Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents) and the CORBA event service-based information bus adapter developed by us. The design and implementation of EMTI (Efficient Message Transport Interface) allowing communication between the information bus adapter which is non-agent platform and JADE platform are presented and its performance is evaluated by letting them exchange a large amount of messages.

  • Recently, owing to miniaturization of computer and popularization of internet, ubiquitous computing is attracting considerable attention. In ubiquitous environment, user can receive desired information service anywhere, any time. With the advent of ubiquitous age through popularization of internet, it becomes important how to provide user with ubiquitous environment, and what and how to provide to user. In this paper, method to automatically select device most suitable for user in ubiquitous environment is offered. search agents search peripherals, make a list by function, and transmit to serve. Serve learn the transmitted information through intelligent system. If user input information in the form of linguistic according to the list, serve select device suitable for work environment, and compose the system through IP address. This was realize through practical example, experimented and confirmed.

  • Personalized reminder systems have to identify the user's current needs dynamically and proactively based on the user's current context. However, need identification methodologies and their feasible architectures for personalized reminder systems have so far been rare. Hence, this paper aims to propose a proactive need identification mechanism by applying agent and semantic web technologies and RFID-based context subsystem for a personalized reminder system, which is one of the supporting systems for a robust ubiquitous service support environment. We have created a prototype system, RFID-based NAMA (Need Aware Multi-Agent), to demonstrate the feasibility of the methodology and of the mobile settings framework that we propose in this paper. NAMA considers the context, user profile with preferences, and information about currently available services, to discover the user's current needs and then link the user to a set of services, which are implemented as web services.
