  • Objectives: This study evaluated the effect of camphorquinone (CQ)-amine ratio on the C=C double bond conversion of resins with binary and ternary photoinitiation systems. Materials and Methods: Two monomer mixtures (37.5 Bis-GMA/37.5 Bis- EMA/25 TEGDMA) with binary systems (CQ/DMAEMA in weight ratio, group A [0.5/1.0] and B [1.0/0.5]) and four mixtures with ternary system (CQ/OPPI/DMAEMA, group C [0.1/1.0/0.1], D [0.1/1.0/ 0.2], E [0.2/1.0/0.1] and F [0.2/1.0/0.2]) were tested: 1 : 2 or 2 : 1 CQ-amine ratio in binary system, while 1 : 1 ratio was added in ternary system. The monomer mixture was cured for 5, 20, 40, and 300 sec with a Demetron 400 curing unit (Demetron). After each exposure time, degree of conversion (DC) was estimated using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrophotometer (Nicolet 520, Nicolet Instrument Corp.). The results were analyzed by ANOVA followed by Scheffe test, with p = 0.05 as the level of significance. Results: DC (%) was expressed in the order of curing time (5, 20, 40, and 300 sec). Group A ($14.63{\pm}10.42$, $25.23{\pm}6.32$, $51.62{\pm}2.69$, $68.52{\pm}2.77$); Group B ($4.04{\pm}6.23$, $16.56{\pm}3.38$, $37.95{\pm}2.79$, $64.48{\pm}1.21$); Group C ($16.87{\pm}5.72$, $55.47{\pm}2.75$, $60.83{\pm}2.07$, $68.32{\pm}3.31$); Group D ($23.77{\pm}1.64$, $61.05{\pm}1.82$, $65.13{\pm}2.09$, $71.87{\pm}1.17$); Group E ($28.66{\pm}2.92$, $56.68{\pm}1.33$, $60.66{\pm}1.17$, $68.78{\pm}1.30$); Group F ($39.74{\pm}6.31$, $61.07{\pm}2.58$, $64.22{\pm}2.29$, $69.94{\pm}2.15$). Conclusion: All the monomers with ternary photoinitiation system showed higher DC than the ones with binary system, until 40 sec. Concerning about the effect of CQ-amine ratio on the DC, group A converted into polymer more than group B in binary system. However, there was no significant difference among groups with ternary system, except group C when cured for 5 sec only.

  • RuO$_{2}$ thin films are prepared by RF magnetron reactive sputtering and their characteristics of crystallization, microstructue, surface roughness and resistivity are studied with various O$_{2}$/(Ar+O$_{2}$) ratios and substrate temperatures. As O$_{2}$/(Ar+O$_{2}$) ratio decreas and substrate temperature increases, the preferred growing plane of RuO$_{2}$ thin films are changed from (110) to (101) plane. With increase of the O$_{2}$/(Ar+O$_{2}$) ratio from 20% to 50%, the surface roughness and the resistivity of RuO$_{2}$ thin films increase form 2.38nm to 7.81 nm, and from 103.6.mu..ohm.-cm to 227.mu..ohm.-cm, resepctively, but the deposition rate decreases from 47 nm/min to 17nm/min. On the other hand, as the substrate temperature increases form room temperature to 500.deg. C, resistivity decreases from 210.5.mu..ohm.-cm to 93.7.mu..ohm.-cm. RuO$_{2}$ thin film deposited at 300.deg. C shows a execellent surface roughness of 2.38nm. As the annealing temperature increases in the range between 400.deg. C and 650.deg. C, the resistivity decreases because of th improvement of crystallinity. We find that RuO$_{2}$ thin film deposited at 20% of O$_{2}$/(Ar+O$_{2}$) ratio and 300.deg. C of substrate temperature shows execellent combination of surface smoothness and low resistrivity so that it is well qualified for bottom electrodes for ferroelectric thin films.

  • By accessing the current status of FPD system use in the hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province as well as the entrance skin dose and the image quality evaluation realized by C-D Phantom, and the image assessment by the medical professionals regarding the radiography for the extremity, the following results were derived. 1. According to the evaluation made in the actual use of FPD system (12 machines), the grid ratio varied from 8:1 to 13:1, and 6 machines used the grid ratio with 12:1, realizing the largest number. Among the machines, there were 8 machines that allowed a removable grid while 3 machines did use a removable grid (25.0%). 2. When it came to the equipments used for the experiment, it showed that the amount of the entrance skin dose increased from 4.13 times up to 4.79 times with the grid use. 3. The difference in the entrance skin dose depending on the changes in the exposure condition(0.5times or 2.0times) was not significantly different regardless of the patients' thickness. 4. In terms of the image quality depending on C-D Phantom, the grid use was distinguished well. However, the images were well distinguishable as the exposure condition got increased. 5. In the clinical assessment, the grid use was less effective for the Hand PA, which was considered to shoot a thin body part. It was evaluated that the grid use was preferred for the Knee AP, which was shooting for a relatively thick body part. Nonetheless, 3 out of 5 people said that they would not use the grid if the entrance skin dose to reduced.

  • The effect of salicylic acid (SA) on C $d^{2+}$ - induced physiological toxicity in Commelina communis was investigated. 3- weeks old Commelina communis was transferred to and grown in Hoagland solution in the presence or absence of 100 $\mu$M C $d^{2+}$ and SA for 3 weeks. In the treatment of C $d^{2+}$ + SA, the length of stem was increased to 0.7 cm for 3 weeks (C $d^{2+}$, 2.1cm; control, 7.2 cm). C $d^{2+}$ + SA reduced total chlorophyll content up to 86%, and changed chlorophyll a/b ratio below 1.6. C $d^{2+}$ + SA also reduced about 40-78% of water potential, but C $d^{2+}$ increased 16-39% from 1 week to 3 weeks. C $d^{2+}$ + SA also inhibited 27% of Fv/Fm, but in case of C $d^{2+}$, Fv/Fm was not changed. The treatment of C $d^{2+}$ + SA showed about 37-58% inhibition of photosynthetic activity when measured at various light intensity (500-1000 $\mu$mol $m^{-2}$ $s^{-1}$ ). In the case of C $d^{2+}$ treatment, photosynthetic activity was inhibited to 12-15%. Similar effect was found in terms of stomatal conductance. Therefore, it could be concluded that the treatment of C $d^{2+}$ + SA into plant decrease or block various physiological activities and lend to die by double effects of both chemicals.cts of both chemicals..

  • This paper presents the effect of numerical parameters, such as grid size and grid ratio, on the outflow hydrograph of a unit-width plane in the linear Muskingum-Cunge method. The numerical results depend on Courant number C and cell Reynolds number D, two physically and numerically meaningful parameters. As C approache 1 and D increases, the numerical dispersion-relating oscillations are difficult to occur. The numerical oscillations occur in the front of a propagating wave for C < 1, while smaller oscillations occur behind the wave for C > 1 due to the numerical diffusion effect. For a plane with a small value of characteristic reach length L (e.g., a steep plane), the numerical solution of the Muskingum-Cunge method is similar to that of the kinematic wave method, which shows no wave attenuation. However, for a plane with a large value of L (e.g., a mild plane), the Muskingum-Cunge method leads to the diffusion waves which are essentially independent of the Courant number. Accordingly, the Muskingum-Cunge method will be suited for the routing of the catchment with relatively mild slopes.

  • In this study, corrosion fatigue test of SAPH45 steel was performed by the use of plane behavior of base metal (BM) and heat affected zone (HAZ) of SAPH45. The main results obtained are as follows: 1) The more aspect ratio (b/t) of corner crack decreases, the more aspect ratio (b/a) takes greatly effect by corrosion. 2) The correlation between the stress intensity factor range ($\Delta$k) and crack growth rate (da/dN) for weldment in seawater is given by Paris rule as follow: da/dN=C($\Delta$K) super(m). Where m is constant, and the value is 3.82-3.84. 3) The accelerative factor ($\alpha$) of BM and HAZ under seawater is about 1.1-1.9, and ($\alpha$) of HAZ increases more and more under the low $\Delta$K region. 4) HAZ is more susceptible to corrowion than BM because of potential of electrode (E sub(c)) of HAZ becomes more less noble potential than that of BM.

  • The heat transfer phenomenon was investigated in this study when a single round water jet with the low velocity and against the direction of gravity flows to the downward facing Isothermal of definite thickness circular plate. Experimental investigation is performed for a single round jet diameter 4mm, 6mm, and 8mm with the jet velocity 2.4m/s and jet fluid temperature of $24^{\circ}C$, varied the ratio of nozzle clearance/nozzle diameter (H/D)1, 2, 3, 6, and 8, on circular plate isothermal condition with $85^{\circ}C$. The local convection heat transfer coefficient distributions are analyzed based on the visualization of jet flow field. The effects of the diameter of Nozzle, the ratio of H/D and the ratio of nozzle diameter/circular plate diameter on heat transfer phenomenon are investigated. As a results of experiment is obtained correlation equation, $Nu_r=3.18Re_r^{0.55}Pr_r^{0.4}$.

  • As technology advances, there is a demand for development of hard, solid lubricant coating. (Ti,Cr)N-$MoS_2$, films were deposited on SKD 11 tool steel substrate by co-deposition of $MoS_2$, with (Ti,Cr)N using a D.C. magnetron sputtering process. The influence of the $N_2/Ar$ gas ratio, the deposition temperature, the amount of $MoS_2$ in the films, and the bias voltage on the mechanical and the structural properties of the films were investigated. Wear tests were performed on the films deposited in various conditions.

  • A large deformation FEM (Finite Element Method) based numerical analysis has been performed to study the behaviour of the bell-shaped anchor embedded in undrained saturated (cohesive) soil with the help of finite element based software ABAQUS. A typical model anchor with bell-diameter of 0.125 m, embedded in undrained saturated soil with varying cohesive strength (from 5 kN/m2 to 200 kN/m2) has been chosen for studying the characteristic behaviour of the bell-shaped anchor installed in cohesive soil. Breakout factors have been evaluated for each case and verified with the results of experimental model tests for three different types of soil samples. The maximum value of breakout factor was found as about 8.5 within a range of critical embedment ratio of 2.5 to 3. An explicit model has been developed to estimate the breakout factor (Fc) for uplift capacity of bell-shaped anchor within clay mass in terms of H/D ratio (embedment ratio). It was also found that, the ultimate uplift capacity of the anchor increases with the increase of the value of cohesive strength of the soil and H/D ratio. The empirical equation developed in the present investigation is usable within the range of cohesion value and H/D ratio from 5 kN/m2 to 200 kN /m2 and 0.5 to 3.0 respectively. The proposed model has been validated against data obtained from a series of model tests carried out in the present investigation. From the stress-profile analysis of the soil mass surrounding the anchor, occurrence of stress concentration is found to be generated at the joint of anchor shaft and bell. It was also found that the vertical and horizontal stresses surrounding the anchor diminish at about a distance of 0.3 m and 0.15 m respectively.

  • This work was conducted to evaluate the hatching and growing performance of Korean native chicken (KNC) 3 strains crossbred. A total of 360 female pullets were produced from $\times$ (A), CL $\times$ C (B), CG $\times$ C (C) and CW $\times$ C (D) crossbred kept in National Institute of Animal Science, Korea. Hatchability of A, B, C and D were 69.8, 70.7, 75.5 and 77.4%, respectively. Livability were not significantly different by 20 weeks among 4 strains. Body weight B was high compared to other strains at 20 weeks. The feed conversion ratio of 4 strains was no significantly different among strains at 20 weeks. These results suggested the basic data that needed to develope the new strains.
