Monitoring of white striping and wooden breast cases and impacts on quality of breast meat collected from commercial broilers (Gallus gallus)

  • Objective: This study aimed at investigating white striping (WS) and wooden breast (WB) cases in breast meat collected from commercial broilers. Methods: A total of 183 breast samples were collected from male Ross 308 broilers slaughtered at the age of 6 weeks (n = 100) and 7 weeks (n = 83). The breasts were subjected to meat defect inspection, meat quality determination and histology evaluation. Results: Of 183, 4 breasts from 6-week-old broilers were classified as non-defective while the others exhibited the WS lesion. Among the 6-week-old birds, the defective samples from the medium size birds (carcass weight ${\leq}2.5kg$) showed mild to moderate WS degree with no altered meat quality. Some of the breasts from the 6-week-old birds with carcass weight above 2.5 kg exhibited WB in accompanied with the WS condition. Besides of a reduction of protein content, increases in collagen matter and pH values in the defective samples (p<0.05), no other impaired quality indices were detected within this group. All 7-week-old broilers yielded carcasses weighing above 2.5 kg and showed abnormal characteristics with progressive severity. The breasts affected with severe WS and WB showed the greatest cook loss, hardness, springiness and chewiness (p<0.05). Development of WB induced significantly increased drip loss in the samples (p<0.05). Histology indicated necrotic events in the defective myofibers. Based on logistic regression, increasing percent breast weight by one unit enhanced the chance of WS and WB development with advanced severity by 50.9% and 61.0%, respectively. Delayed slaughter age from 6 to 7 weeks increased the likelihood of obtaining increased WS severity by 56.3%. Conclusion: Cases of WS and WB defects in Southeast Asia have been revealed. Despite few cases of the severe WS and WB, such abnormal conditions significantly impaired technological properties and nutritional quality of broiler breasts.

능동 후륜조타와 요우 모멘트의 협조제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on Integrated Control System Design of Active Rear Wheel Steering and Yaw-Moment Control Systems)

  • Conventionally, 2WS is used for vehicle steering, which can only steering front wheel. In case of trying to high speed lane change or cornering through this kind of vehicle equipped 2WS, it may occur much of Yaw moment. On the other hand, 4WS makes decreasing of Yawing Moment, outstandingly, so it is possible to support vehicle movement stable. And conventional ABS and TCS can only possible to control the longitudinal movement of braking equipment and drive which can only available to control of longitudinal direction. There after new braking system ESP was developed, which controls both of longitudinal and lateral, with adding of the function of controlling Active Yaw Moment. On this paper, we show about not only designing of improved braking and steering system through establishing of the integrated control system design of 4WS and ESP but also designing of the system contribute to precautious for advanced vehicle stability problem.

Hardware Accelerated Design on Bag of Words Classification Algorithm

  • In this paper, we propose an image retrieval algorithm for real-time processing and design it as hardware. The proposed method is based on the classification of BoWs(Bag of Words) algorithm and proposes an image search algorithm using bit stream. K-fold cross validation is used for the verification of the algorithm. Data is classified into seven classes, each class has seven images and a total of 49 images are tested. The test has two kinds of accuracy measurement and speed measurement. The accuracy of the image classification was 86.2% for the BoWs algorithm and 83.7% the proposed hardware-accelerated software implementation algorithm, and the BoWs algorithm was 2.5% higher. The image retrieval processing speed of BoWs is 7.89s and our algorithm is 1.55s. Our algorithm is 5.09 times faster than BoWs algorithm. The algorithm is largely divided into software and hardware parts. In the software structure, C-language is used. The Scale Invariant Feature Transform algorithm is used to extract feature points that are invariant to size and rotation from the image. Bit streams are generated from the extracted feature point. In the hardware architecture, the proposed image retrieval algorithm is written in Verilog HDL and designed and verified by FPGA and Design Compiler. The generated bit streams are stored, the clustering step is performed, and a searcher image databases or an input image databases are generated and matched. Using the proposed algorithm, we can improve convenience and satisfaction of the user in terms of speed if we search using database matching method which represents each object.

  • 1.1~2.1eV의 직접 천이형 밴드갭을 가지는 전이금속 칼코게나이드(Transition Metal Dichalcogenide, TMDC)는 빛에 대한 반응성이 크고 구조적 특징상 2차원 물질들과의 수직 이종접합구조를 형성하기 용이하다는 장점으로 차세대 광전소자와 반도체소자 물질로서 대두되고 있다. 하지만 TMDC를 얻는 공정들의 한계로 인해 고품질, 대면적의 수직이종접합구조의 형성에 어려움이 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 MOCVD 시스템을 제작하고, 단일층 TMDC 및 이들의 이종구조에 제조에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 특히, 버블러 타입의 유기금속화합물 소스를 활용하여, 반응기 내로 유입되는 소스의 농도와 유량을 정밀하게 조절함으로써 전면적으로 균일한 박막을 얻을 수 있다. MOCVD로 MoS2, WS2 박막을 성장시키고 주사전자현미경, UV-visible spectrophotometer, Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence 분석을 진행하여 균일한 박막을 성장시켰음을 확인하였다. 또한, MoS2 박막에 WS2 박막을 직접 성장시킴으로써 MoS2/WS2 수직 이종접합구조를 형성하였다.

  • 홍삼에서 분리한 수용성 갈변물질의 항산화 활성을 linoleic acid, Ox-brain autoxidant, Fe$^{2+}$ ADP/NAD 및 cumene hydoperoxide 시스템에서 조사한 결과를 다음과 같다. 1. Linoleic acid :투석내액의 갈변물질보다 투석외액의 갈변물질 쪽에서 hydroperoxy radical 저해율이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 이때 S-2의 산화저해율은 S-1, L시험구보다 적은 농도에서 저해율이 높았다. S-2의 산화저해율은 49,52, 62.44 및 97.5%로 나타나 첨가농도가 증가함에 따라 linoleic acid 산화저해율은 높았다. 2. Ox-brain autoxidant : 자동산화에의한 항산화활성을 조사한 결과, 투석내액의 갈변물질보다 투석외액의 갈변물질 쪽에서 자동산화에 의한 항산화활성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히S-2의 항산화 활성은 22.5, 31.7, 31.9 및 33.5%로 나타났다. 3. Fe$^{2+}$ ADP/NAD 및 cumene hydroperoxide : 횐쥐 간의 microsome 분획을 분리하여 수용성 갈변물질의 ADP/NABP 및 cumene hydroperoxide 항산화 활성을 조사한 결과, 모든 시험구에서 반응 초기에 항산화 활성이 있으나, 반응 시간이 길수록 항산화 활성은 감소하였다. 그 활성의 순서는 S-2>S-1>L순으로 나타났으나 항산화 활성의 강도는 전체적으로 약하게 나타났다.

퍼지로직과 모델추종제어를 이용한 4륜 조향 차량에 관한 연구 (A Study on a 4WS Vehicle Using Fuzzy Logic and Model Following Control)

  • This paper develops a 3 DOF vehicle model which includes lateral, roll and yaw motion to study a 4WS vehicle. The model is used for the simulation of a 4WS vehicle behavior, and to derive a control algorithm for rear wheel steering. This paper uses a feedforward plus feedback control scheme to compute a rear wheel steering angle. The feedforward control scheme for computing the first rear wheel steering angle uses a gain which is acquired by multiplying a proper value on a gain to maintain a zero sideslip angle. The feedback control scheme for computing the second rear wheel steering angle uses fuzzy logic and model following control scheme. A linear 2 DOF model is used as a reference model for model following control, and is derived from the developed 3 DOF model by neglecting sprung mass roll motion. A reference state variable is yaw rate, and is computed using the linear 2 DOF model. J-turn and lane change maneuver simulation are performed to show the effectiveness of the developed control scheme. The simulation results show that the 4WS vehicle with the developed control scheme has much better performance in yaw rate, lateral acceleration, roll angle, and sideslip angle than the 2WS vehicle. Also, the results show that the performance of the developed control is close to the one of an optimal control which assumes all states are perfect.

발아현미와 수종한약재 추출액의 스트레스 및 불안상태 개선 효과에 대한 임상연구 (A Clinical Trial about Anti-anxiety and Anti-stress Effect of a modified formula consisted with Several Herbs)

  • This double-blind randomized clinical trial was performed to evaluate the anti-anxiety, anti-stress effect of a modified formula WS-01 consisted with several herbs(Jujubae Fructus. Longanae Arillus. Poria Cocos) and germinated rice. The extract of the formula was administered (p.o) to 24 students and placebo was to 23 students for 4 weeks. STAI-KYZ(Hahn. Hakjisa), ABR2000(Meridian, Korea), CBC, LFT, U/A were checked before and after the administration period. There was no difference between the STAI score of WS-01 and that of placebo group in first test. But the STAI state anxiety score was 5.33±7.33 reduced in WS-01 group and it was 0.52±6.42 increased in placebo group in second test. this result was significant stastically. 10 students in WS-01 group showed improving result, but only 1 student in placebo group showed improving result of ABR2000 test. The result of ABR2000 was analyzed with curve 2, Regulation 2, and graph 1,2,3, because those reflect central nerve system and stressful condition of the body. There was no significant result in first and second CBC, LFT, Urine test. The results of this clinical study suggest that WS-01 has anti-anxiety, anti-stress effect, and it could be applied to various conditions or disorders related with anxiety and stress.

  • 홍삼에서 분리한 수용성 갈변물질의 항산화 활성을 DPPH 수소공여능 및 hydrogen peroxide 시스템에서 조사한 결과를 다음과 같다. 1. DPPH 수소공여능 수용성 갈변물질 S-1, S-2는 반응시간이 경과함에 따라 완만하게 감소하였고, L은 S-1, S-2보다 시간이 경과 함에 따라 감소폭이 증가하였다. L의 경우 BHT, BHA $5{\times}10^{-4}M,\;{\alpha}-tocopherol\;1{\times}10^{-4}M$ 및 ascorbic acid $5.7{\times}10^{-3}M$ 보다 감소폭이 증가하였으나, S-1, S-2는 합성 항산화제와 감소폭이 비슷하였다. 2. Synergist 효과 L, S-1 및 S-2 와 상기의 합성 항산화제 농도와 시너지스트 효과를 조사한 결과, 모든 시험구에서 반응 시간이 경과 함에 따라 감소폭이 증가하여 시너지스트 효과가 나타났다. 3. Hydrogen Peroxide 소거능 :수용성 갈변물질의 hydrgen peroxide 소거능을 조사한 결과, L은 $50\~80\%$, S-1은 $70\~100\%,$ S-1은 모든 첨가구에서 반응 초기부터 $100\%$로 완전히 소거되었다.

제주도 곶자왈 상록활엽수 종가시나무의 생물량 추정을 위한 상대생장식 (Aboveground biomass estimation of Quercus glauca in evergreen forest, Kotzawal wetland, Cheju Island, Korea)

  • 본 연구는 제주도 곶자왈습지에서 서식하는 상록활엽수인 종가시나무의 지상부 생물량에 대한 상대생장식을 개발하기 위하여 수행되었다. 그 결과 독립변수가 DBH일 때, 줄기(Ws), 가지(Wb), 잎(Wl) 그리고 지상부(Wab)의 상대생장식은 각각 logWs=2.4042logDBH-1.3045, logWb=2.6436logDBH-1.6232, logWl=1.5428logDBH-1.3692 그리고 logWab=2.3324logDBH-0.9181이었다. 독립변수가 $D^2H$일 때, 줄기(Ws), 가지(Wb), 잎(Wl) 그리고 지상부(Wab)의 상대생장식은 각각 logWs=$0.853logD^2H-1.4252$, logWb=$0.8453logD^2H-1.5834$, logWl=$0.5328logD^2H-1.4073$ 그리고 logWab=$0.8453logD^2H-1.0327$이었다. 독립변수가 DBH일 때, 줄기, 가지 잎 그리고 지상부 상대생장식의 $R^2$값은 0.9873, 0.9711, 0.7979 그리고 0.993 이었고 독립변수가 $D^2H$일 때 0.9841, 0.9174, 0.7537 그리고 0.9876 이었다. 독립변수가 DBH인 상대생장식과 $D^2H$인 상대생장식은 모두 관측값과 예측값 사이에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없어 어느 상대생장식을 사용하더라도 결과에는 차이가 없었다.
