To synthesize a high-performance photocatalyst, N doped $TiO_2$ nanotubes deposited with Ag nanoparticles were synthesized, and surface characteristics, electrochemical behaviors, and photocatalytic activity were investigated. The $TiO_2$ nanotubular photocatalyst was fabricated by anodization; the Ag nanoparticles on the $TiO_2$ nanotubes were synthesized by a reduction reaction in $AgNO_3$ solution under UV irradiation. The XPS results of the N doped $TiO_2$ nanotubes showed that the incorporated nitrogen ions were located in interstitial sites of the $TiO_2$ crystal structure. The N doped titania nanotubes exhibited a high dye degradation rate, which is effectively attributable to the increase of visible light absorption due to interstitial nitrogen ions in the crystalline $TiO_2$ structure. Moreover, the precipitated Ag particles on the titania nanotubes led to a decrease in the rate of electron-hole recombination; the photocurrent of this electrode was higher than that of the pure titania electrode. From electrochemical and dye degradation results, the photocurrent and photocatalytic efficiency were found to have been significantly affected by N doping and the deposition of Ag particles.

We present facile chemical route stabilizing dispersion of carboxylated single-Walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in ZnOsol prepared by using diethanolamine as a stabilizer. The dispersion was stabilized via capping of carboxyl groups on the SWCNT surface by a titania layer. We also demonstrated that the conductivity of the films prepared P3/$TiO_2$/ZnO as enhanced by therml treatment, and the thermal stbility of the film improved hybridization with ZnO sol pristine P3, P3/$SiO_2$ and P3/$TiO_2$ hybrid films.

Nanosized TiO2 has been widely investigated in photoelectrochemical or photocatalytic applications due to their intrinsic properties such as suitable band position, high photocorrosion resistance, and surface area. In this study, to achieve the high efficiency in photoelectrochemical and photocatalytic performance, TiO2 nanotubular structures were formed by anodization at various temperatures and times. The morphological and crystal structure of the anodized TiO2 nanotubes (NTs) were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The photoelectrochemical (PEC) properties and incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) of the TiO2 NTs were studied with different lengths and morphologies. From the detailed investigations, the optimum thickness of TiO2 nanotubes was 3 ㎛. Moreover, we found that the optimum photocatalytic pollutant removal efficiency of TiO2 nanotubes for photodegradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) under simulated solar light was 5.34 ㎛ of tube length.
To improve photocatalytic efficiency, graphene/Ag/TiO2 nanotube catalyst was synthesized, and its surface characteristics and photocatalytic activity investigated. For deposition of Ag nanoparticles on the TiO2 nanotubes, a polymer compound containing CH3COOAg/poly(L-lactide) was utilized, and the silver particles were precipitated by reducing the silver ions during the annealing process. Graphene deposition on the Ag/TiO2 nanotubes was achieved using an electrophoretic deposition process. Based on the dye degradation results, it was determined that the photocatalytic efficiency was significantly affected by deposition of silver particles and graphene on the TiO2 catalyst. Highly efficient destruction of the dye was obtained with the new graphene/Ag/TiO2 nanotube photocatalyst. This may be attributed to a synergistic effect of the graphene and Ag nanoparticles on the TiO2 nanotubes.
In this study, $TiO_2$ nanotubes with different morphologies were prepared in the electrolyte consisting of ethylene glycol, ammonium fluoride($NH_4F$), and deionized water($H_2O$) by controlling the voltage and time in the anodization method. Thicknesses and pore sizes of these $TiO_2$ nanotubes were measured to interpret the relationship between anodization conditions and $TiO_2$ nanotube morphologies. Element contents in the $TiO_2$ nanotubes were detected for further analysis of $TiO_2$ nanotube characteristics. Photoelectrolyticdecolorization efficiencies of the $TiO_2$ nanotube plates with various morphologies were tested to clarify the morphology that a highly active $TiO_2$ nanotube plate should have. Influences of applied voltage in photoelectrolysis processes and sodium sulfate($Na_2SO_4$) concentration in wastewater on the decolorization efficiency were also studied. To save the equipment investment cost in photoelectrolysis methods, a two-photoelectrode system that uses the $TiO_2$ nanotube plates as photoanode and photocathode instead of adding other counter electrodes was studied. Compared with single-photoelectrode system that uses the $TiO_2$ nanotube plate as photoanode and titanium plate as cathode on the view of the treatment of dye wastewater containing different amounts of salt. As a result, a considerably suitable voltage was strictly needed for enhancing the photoelectrolyticdecolorization effect of the two-photoelectrode system but if salts exist in wastewater, an excellent increase in the decolorization efficiency can be obtained.

We report the synthesis and characterization of the perovskite nanotubes made by sol-gel template syn-thesis.Both lead titanate (PbTiO3 : PT), lead zirconate (PbZrO3 : PZ) and lead zirconium titanate (PbZrO3 -PbTiO3 : PZT) solid solution nanotubes were prepared with a chelate sol-gel of titanium isopropoxide (Ti(OPri)4 ), zirconium tet-rabutoxide (Zr(OBu)4 ) and the respective lead acetate (Pb(OAc)2 -3H2O). WhatmanRanodisc membranes, with a 200nm pore size, served as the template. After the removal of the template in the 6M-NaOH, scanning electron microscopy shows that the shapes formed are 200 nm outer diameter tubes with 50mm lengths. Transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction reveal that the tubes are polycrystalline. The PT nanotubes so far have shown an anomalous transition temperature, 234.4$^{\circ}C$ as measured by DSC with a small particle size, 15.4 nm determined by X-ray analysis with the aid of Scherrer's equation.

Titanium (IV) dioxide (TiO2) is one of the most attractive d-block transition metal functional oxides. Many applications of TiO2 such as dye-sensitized solar cells and photocatalyst have been widely investigated. To utilize solar energy efficiently, TiO2 should be well-aligned with a high surface area and promote the charge separation as well as electron transport. Herein, the TiO2 nanotubes were successfully fabricated by a template-directed method. The electrospun PEO(Polyethylene oxide, Molecular weight, 400k)fibers were used as a soft template for coating with titanium dioxide using an atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique. The deposition was conducted onto a template at 50$^{\circ}C$ by using titaniumisopropoxide [Ti(OCH(CH3)2)4; TTIP] as precursors of TiO2. While the as-deposited TiO2 layers onto PEO fibers were completely amorphous with atomic layer deposition, the TiO2 layers after calcination at 500$^{\circ}C$ for 1 h were properly converted into polycrystalline nanostructured hallow TiO2 nanotube. The TiO2 nanotube with high surface area can be easily handled and reclaimed for use in future applications related to solar cell fabrications.

Multiwall carbon nanotubes are synthesized by using VLS mechanism for the application to $H_2$ gas sensor. MWCNT is not suitable for hydrogen gas sensor due to its low response to the gas. To enhance the gas sensing performance, multiwall carbon nanotubes are coated with $TiO_2$ nanoparticles. Scanning electron microscopy and Transmission electron microscopy showed that the synthesized MWCNT were well dispersed with the diameter and wall thickness of approximately 10-30nm and 5nm, respectively. The MWCNT sensor showed the sensitivities of 1.33-9.5% for the $H_2$ concentration of 100-5000ppm at room temperature. These sensitivities are significantly improved to 6.64-46.65% by coating $TiO_2$ nanoparticles to the MWCNT sensor. The mechanisms of $H_2$ gas sensing improvement of the MWCNT sensor coated with $TiO_2$ nanoparticles are discussed.
Electrochemical surface treatment is commonly used to form a thin, rough, and porous oxidation layer on the surface of titanium. The purpose of this study was to investigate the formation of nanotubular titanium oxide arrays during short anodization processing. The specimen used in this study was 99.9% pure cp-Ti (ASTM Grade II) in the form of a disc with diameter of 15 mm and a thickness of 1 mm. A DC power supplier was used with the anodizing apparatus, and the titanium specimen and the platinum plate ($3mm{\times}4mm{\times}0.1mm$) were connected to an anode and cathode, respectively. The progressive formation of $TiO_2$ nanotubes was observed with FE-SEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy). Highly ordered $TiO_2$ nanotubes were formed at a potential of 20 V in a solution of 1M $H_3PO_4$ + 1.5 wt.% HF for 10 minutes, corresponding with steady state processing. The diameters and the closed ends of $TiO_2$ nanotubes measured at a value of 50 cumulative percent were 100 nm and 120 nm, respectively. The $TiO_2$ nanotubes had lengths of 500 nm. As the anodization processing reached 10 minutes, the frequency distribution for the diameters and the closed ends of the $TiO_2$ nanotubes was gradually reduced. Short anodization processing for $TiO_2$ nanotubes of within 10 minutes was established.
