$TiO_2$ 박막을 적용한 새로운 액정배향막의 연구 (Investigation of The New LC Alignment Film using $TiO_2$ thin film)

  • We studied the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) aligning capabilities using the new alignment material of a Titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) thin film by rf magnetron sputtering system for 15min under various rf power. A very low pretilt angle by ion beam exposure on the $TiO_2$ thin film was measured. A good LC alignment by the ion beam alignment method on the $TiO_2$ thin film surface was observed at annealing temperature of $200^{\circ}C$, and the alignment defect of the NLC was observed above annealing temperature of $250^{\circ}C$. Consequently, the low NLC pretilt angle and the good thermal stability of LC alignment by the ion beam alignment method on the $TiO_2$ thin film by sputter method as various rf power condition can be achieved.

  • The $BaTiO_3+xNb_2O_5$(x=6, 8, 10wt%) ceramics were prepared by conventional mixed oxide method. The structural properties of the $BaTiO_3+Nb_2O_5$ ceramics with the sintering temperature and addition of $Nb_2O_5$ were investigated by XRD and SEM. Increasing the sintering temperature, the $2{\theta}$ value of BT(110) peak was shifted to the lower degree and intensity of the $Ba_6Ti_2Nb_8O_{30}$ (133) peak was increased. Increasing the addition of $Nb_2O_5$, the intensity of $BaTiNb_4O_{13}$ (201) peak was decreased and $Ba_6Ti_2Nb_8O_{30}$ (133) peak was increased. The grain size of the $BaTiO_3+Nb_2O_5$ ceramics sintered at $1500^{\circ}C$ were almost uniform.

  • Recently, $TiO_2$ nanotubes have considerably researched because of their novel application about photocatalysis, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), lithium ion battery, etc. In this work, self-standing $TiO_2$ nanotube arrays were fabricated by anodic oxidation method using pure Ti foil as a working electrode in ethylene glycole with 0.3M $NH_4F$ + $2%H_2O$. Growth behavior of $TiO_2$ nanotube arrays was compared according to temperature, voltage and time. The morphology, structure and crystalline of anodized $TiO_2$ nanotube arrays were observed by FE-SEM (field emission scanning electron microscope) and XRD (X-ray diffraction).

  • In this study, the technology to grow oriented nanotube thin film from dip-coated $TiO_2$ using hydrothermal method has been successfully developed. The effects of preparation parameters, such as reaction temperature, duration and post treatment conditions on the film morphologies and the adherence to the substrate, have been examined. A general formation mechanism of oriented titanate nanotube thin film is proposed in terms of the detailed observation of the products via two dimensional surface FESEM studies and HRTEM images. The overall formation of $TiO_2-based$ nanotube thin film can be summarized with three successive steps: (1) $TiO_2$ dissolving and amorphous $Na_2TiO_3$ deposition process; (2) layered $Na_2Ti_3O_7$ formation via spontaneous crystallization and rapid growth process; (3) formation of nanotube thin film via $Na_2Ti_3O_7$ splitting and multilayer scrolling process of (100) planes around the c axis of $Na_2Ti_3O_7$.

  • $Ti(i-OC_3H_7)_4$알콕사이드를 출발원료로 사용한 sol-gel법을 이용하여 Rutle, Anatase 결정상의 $TiO_2$박막을 제조하였다. 결정화 정도란 관점에서 $TiO_2$ 박막의 결정상에 미치는 첨가물의 영향을 조사하였다. 3차 비선형 광학 감수율을 THG법을 이용하여 측정하였으며, Rutle 과 Anatase 결정상의 $TiO_2$ 박막의 3차 비선형 광학 감수율은 각각 $1.4{\times}10^{-12}$$9.7{\times}10^{-13}$ esu의 값을 얻었다.

  • TiO2 thin films were grown using the Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and their structural and electrical properties were investigated. The crystal structure, dielectric constant, and surface roughness of the TiO2 thin films grown by the ALD deposition method were studied. The grown TiO2 thin films showed an anatase crystal structure, and their properties varied with temperature. In particular, the properties of the TiO2 thin films were confirmed by changing the process temperature. The electrical properties of Metal-Insulator-Silicon (MIS) capacitor structures were analyzed using a probe station. The performance improvement of capacitors using TiO2 as a dielectric was confirmed by measuring capacitance through Capacitance-Voltage (C-V) curves.

  • $SrTiO_3$ and $BaTiO_3$ sol-liquids and powders were prepared by the sol-gel method. $SrTiO_3/BaTiO_3$ heterolayered thin/thick films have been prepared on the $Al_2O_3$ substrates by screen printing and spin-coating method. The thin films were sintered at $750^{\circ}C$ in the air for 1 hour and the thick films sintered at $1325^{\circ}C$ in the air for 2 hours, respectively. The $SrTiO_3/BaTiO_3$ thin/thick films's structural and dielectric properties were investigated. Increasing the spin-coating times, (110), (200), (211) peaks of the $SrTiO_3$ were increased. The X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns and SEM photographs indicated that the $SrTiO_3$ phase were formed in the surface of $BaTiO_3$ thick films. The average thickness of a $BaTiO_3$ thick films and $SrTiO_3$ thin films were $50{\mu}m$ and 400nm, respectively The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the $SrTiO_3/BaTiO_3$ thin/thick films with $SrTiO_3$ coated 5 times were 1598 and 0.0436 at 10KHz.

  • In order to obtain the nano size $10wt%Cu-TiO_2$composite powders by mechanical alloying method for useful composite catalysis, the effects of mechanical alloying time on the formationof $10wt%Cu-TiO_2$ composite powders were analyzed. The phase transformation behaviors were experimented as the heat treating temperature increased. Homogeneous 10wt% Cu-rutile type $TiO_2$composite powders were synthesized in 40 hours by mechanical alloying. After 60 hours mechanical alloying 50 nm size $TiO_2$powders were obtained. Both the phase of mechanically alloyed 10 wt% $Cu-TiO_2$ and pure $TiO_2$ powders were not transformed to anatase after annealing at the temperature range between 350 to 500 $^{\circ}C$. The intermetallic compound of $Cu_2Ti_4$O was formed after 10 hours mechanical alloying, however it could be considered that this intemetallic phase dose not prevent the transformation of rutile $TiO_2$ to the anatase phase after heat treatment at the temperature between 350 and $550^{\circ}C$.

  • The $0.96MgTiO_3-0.04SrTiO_3+xLa(0{\sim}1.0wt%)$ ceramics were prepared by conventional mixed oxide method. The structural properties of $0.96MgTiO_3-0.04SrTiO_3+xLa(0{\sim}1.0wt%)$ ceramics with sintering temperature were investigated by the XRD and SEM. From the X-ray diffraction patterns, it was found that the perovskite $SrTiO_3$ and ilmenite $MgTiO_3$ structures were coexisted in the $0.96MgTiO_3-0.04SrTiO_3$ ceramics. The second phase of $Sr_{0.5}LaTi_2O_6$ was shown with addition of the $La_2O_3$. The dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$), $Q{\times}f$ value and the temperature coefficient of the $0.96MgTiO_3-0.04SrTiO_3+0.2La$ ceramics were 21. 41, 39991, $-3.3ppm/^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • The alumina-titania composite powders coated with Al2O3 were prepared by the method of hydrolysis-deposition of mixed aluminium salt solution of Al2(SO)4-Al(NO3)3-Urea. The effects of coating-process parameters on the characteristics of coated composite powders were also investigated. As the content of TiO2 dispersed in deionized water increased, the coated composite powders were found to be more uniform in size and unagglomerated. When TiO2 powders were coated for 30 min, the optimum TiO2 content in the coating process was 400 mg/ι. The size of TiO2 particle was increased approximately from 0.7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 1.0${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ through coating of Al2O3. The IEP of coated composite powders was pH=8.3 identical to the value of aluminium hydroxides and the zeta-potential showed nearly similar values each other. When heat treating coated composite powders at 130$0^{\circ}C$, only two phases of TiO2(rutile) and Al2TiO5 were observed. These results showed that the suface of TiO2 could be uniformly coated with the aluminium hydroxide.
