  • In order to investigate the influence on dielectric characteristic due to physical structural change of specimens, we investigated the frequency and temperature dependency of tan $\delta$ for virgin specimen and mixtured specimens in the temperature range of 25[$^{\circ}C$] ~ 120[$^{\circ}C$], frequency range of 300(mv) ~ 1500[mV] An experimenatal specimen is selected as Low Liner Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) and Ethylene Vinyl Acetate(EVA) (thickness 200[$\mu$m]) produced by mixture ratio of 50:50, 60:40, 70:30 and 80:20. From the results of XRD it can be confirmed that the peak of LLDPE and EVA made by mixture ratio of 70:30 at 2$\theta$= 21.4$^{\circ}$is higher and the peak made by amorphous contribution at 2$\theta$= 19.5[$^{\circ}$] is almostly constant without no concern.

  • In this paper, we have introduced a new type of covering property ${\beta}^t_{({\omega}_r,s)}$-closedness, stronger than $P^t_{({\omega}_r,s)}$-closedness [3] in terms of (r, s)-β-open sets [9] and β-ωt-closures in bitopological spaces along with its several characterizations via filter bases and grills [15] and various properties. Further grill generalizations of ${\beta}^t_{({\omega}_r,s)}$-closedness (namely, ${\beta}^t_{({\omega}_r,s)}$-closedness modulo grill) and associated concepts have also been investigated.

  • Laminar Flow over an equilateral triangular cylinder is studied for several inflow angles. Under an uniform flow of $Re_d$=50,75,100,125,150, the triangular cylinder is rotated by ${\theta}$=$0^{\circ}$,$15^{\circ}$,$30^{\circ}$,$45^{\circ}$,$60^{\circ}$,$75^{\circ}$,$90^{\circ}$,$105^{\circ}$. The governing equations are solved by the PISO algorithm based on the finite volume method of the unstructured grid system. The effects of the inflow angle on the vortex-shedding flows are investigated. The Strouhal number shows a minimum at ${\theta}$=$60^{\circ}$. It is closely related to the variation of pressure and flow structure induced by the movement of separation points.

  • A three-dimensional (3-D) method of analysis is presented for determining the natural frequencies of a truncated shallow and deep conical shell with linearly varying thickness along the meridional direction free at its top edge and clamped at its bottom edge. Unlike conventional shell theories, which are mathematically two-dimensional (2-D), the present method is based upon the 3-D dynamic equations of elasticity. Displacement components $u_r$, $u_{\theta}$, and $u_z$ in the radial, circumferential, and axial directions, respectively, are taken to be periodic in ${\theta}$ and in time, and algebraic polynomials in the r and z directions. Strain and kinetic energies of the truncated conical shell with variable thickness are formulated, and the Ritz method is used to solve the eigenvalue problem, thus yielding upper bound values of the frequencies by minimizing the frequencies. As the degree of the polynomials is increased, frequencies converge to the exact values. Convergence to four-digit exactitude is demonstrated. The frequencies from the present 3-D method are compared with those from other 3-D finite element method and 2-D shell theories.

  • In this paper a 3-D continuum damage mechanics formulation for composite laminates and its implementation into a finite element model that is based on the layer-wise laminate plate theory are described. In the damage formulation, each composite ply is treated as a homogeneous orthotropic material exhibiting orthotropic damage in the form of distributed microscopic cracks that are normal to the three principal material directions. The progressive damage of different angle ply composite laminates under quasi-static loading that exhibit the free edge effects are investigated. The effects of various numerical modeling parameters on the progressive damage response are investigated. It will be shown that the dominant damage mechanism in the lay-ups of [+30/-30]s and [+45/-45]s is matrix cracking. However, the lay-up of [+15/-15] may be delaminated in the vicinity of the edges and at $+{\theta}/-{\theta}$ layers interfaces.

  • A snaked-line array antenna is investigated for the use of high gain antenna at X-band frequency by studing its attenation constant and the radiation pattern. Attenuation constant which is equivalent to the radiation resistance varies roughly as a function of the square of sinh$\theta$a where sin$\theta$a corresponds to the amplitude of sinusoidal form of snaked-line. The directivity is determined by the number of snaked-line antennas and the periodic units of a snaked line.

  • This paper presents accelerated life tests for Type I censoring data under probabilistic stresses. Probabilistic stress, S, is the random variable for stress influenced by test environments, test equipments, sampling devices and use conditions. The hazard rate, $\theta$ is a random variable of environments and a function of probabilistic stress. In detail, it is assumed that the hazard rate is linear function of the stress, the general stress distribution is a gamma distribution and the life distribution for the given hazard rate, $\theta$is an exponential distribution. Maximum likelihood estimators of model parameters are obtained, and the mean life in use stress condition is estimated. A hypothetical example is given to show its applicability.

  • In this study, we investigated experimentally the potential of a planer positioning mechanism with three degrees of freedom using a flexure guide and an electromagnetic linear motor. The goal was to produce a multi-axis positioning system with nanometric resolution over a 1-mm stroke. An $X-Y-\theta$ stage was designed based on previous results from a single-axis prototype and was constructed with a flexure guide mechanism and voice coil motor type linear actuators. We examined the necessity of a driving method and control system to ensure high resolution for multi-axis positioning. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance, and the results confirmed the mechanism's potential; fine point-to-point (PTP) positioning was achieved over a 1-mm stroke, with a resolution of 2 nm for translation in X-Y and 0.01 asec for yaw in $\theta$.

  • Nanocrystalline TiN films were deposited on Si(100) substrate using asymmetric pulsed DC reactive magnetron sputtering. We investigated the growing behavior and the structural properties of TiN films with change of duty cycle and pulsed frequency. Grain size of TiN films were decreased from 87.2 nm to 9.8 nm with decrease of duty cycle. The $2{\theta}$ values for (111) and (200) crystallographic planes of the TiN films were also decreased with decrease of duty cycle. This shift in $2{\theta}$ could be attributed to compressive stress in the TiN coatings. Thus, the change of plasma parameter has a strong influence not only on the microstructure but also on the residual stresses of TiN films.
