팔당호 연안대 초지생태계에서 낙엽 구성성분의 유실률 IV.황 (The Removal Rates of the Constituents of Litters in the Littoral Grassland Ecosystems in the Lake Paldangho IV.Sulphur)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the removal rate of sulphur of the litters in the Phragmites communsis, Seirpus tabernaemontani, Miscanthus sacchariflorus and Typha angustata aquatic grassland ecosystem on the lake Paldangho. The annual litter productions of sulphur were 50.91 /$m^2$, in P. communis, 180.83 g /$m^2$, in S. tabernaemontani, 25.87 g /$m^2$, in M. sacchariflorus and 151.39 g /$m^2$, in T. angustata, respectively. The removal rates r, of sulphur in the litters were 0.86 in P. communis, 0.82 in S. tabernaemontani, 0.43 in M. sacchariflorus and 0.47 in T. angustata respectively, The times required to reach 50, 95 and 99 percent of the steady state levels and turnover values of sulphur on the grass-land floor were 0.81, 3.49 and 5.82 years in the P. communis, 0.85, 3.68 and 6.13 years in the S. tabernaemontani, 1.62, 7.00 and 11.67 years in the M. sacchariflorus and 1.49, 6.44 and 10.73 years in the T. angustata, It is considered that the high removal rates of sulphur in four grasslands of aquatic ecosystem contribute to the efficient removal of sulphur, a pollutant, at the lake Paldangho. 갈치 (Trichiurus lepturus)의 식성 (Feeding Habits of Hairtail, Trichiurus lepturus)

  • 갈치의 식성을 조사하기 위해 가덕도 동쪽 낙동포 해역에서 채집된 갈치의 위내용물을 분석하였다. 갈치의 주요 먹이생물은 어류 (Pisces), 난바다곤쟁이류 (Euphausiacea), 새우류 (Caridea) 및 요각류 (Copepoda) 등의 갑각류, 그리고 모악류 (Chaetognatha)로 나타났다. 그 외에 두족류 (Cephalopoda) 등이 소량 섭이되었다. 갈치는 성장하면서 먹이조성이 달라졌는데, 크게 3단계의 섭식 단계로 구분할 수 있었다. 즉, 전장 30cm 이하의 소형 크기 군은 플랑크톤 섭식기 (planktivorous stage)로 주로 요각류를 먹었다. 30~50 cm의 크기군은 혼합 섭식기 (mixed feeding stage)로 난바다곤쟁이류, 곤쟁이류 (Mysidacea), 새우류, 화살벌레류, 어류 둥 다양한 생물을 골고루 먹었다. 50 mm 이상의 크기군은 어류 섭식기 (piscivorous stage)로 어류를 주로 잡아 먹었다. 특히 멸치가 대형 갈치의 위내용물 중 많이 발견되었다.

  • YBCO step-edge dc SQUID magnetometers on sapphire substrates have been fabricated. CeO2 buffer layer and YBCO films were deposited in situ on the low angle (${\sim}$35$^{\circ}$) steps formed on the sapphire substrates. Typical 5-${\mu}$m-wide junction has R$_n$ of 5 ${\omega}$ and I$_c$ of 50 ${\mu}$A with large I$_c$R$_n$ product of 250 ${\mu}$V at 77K. According to applied bias current, depth of voltage modulation was changed and maximum voltage was measured 16 ${\mu}$V. Field noise of do SQUID was measured 100${\sim}$300 fT/${\surd}^{Hz}$ in the 1 $^{kHz}$, and about 1.5 pT/${\surd}^{Hz}$ in the 1/f region. For ac bias reversal method, field noise was decreased in the 1/f region. The QRS peak of magnetocardiogram was measured 50 pT in the magnetically shielded room.

Vitamin C enhances the expression of IL17 in a Jmjd2-dependent manner

  • Previously, we reported that vitamin C facilitates the CpG demethylation of Foxp3 enhancer in $CD4^+Foxp3^+$ regulatory T cells (Tregs) by enhancing the activity of a DNA demethylase ten-eleven-translocation (Tet). However, it is not clear whether vitamin C affects other helper T cell lineages like T helper type 17 (Th17) cells which are related with Tregs. Here, we show that the expression of interleukin-17A (IL17) increases with the treatment of vitamin C but not with other antioxidants. Interestingly, the upregulation of IL17 was not accompanied by DNA demethylation in Il17 promoter and was independent of Tet enzymes. Rather, vitamin C reduced the trimethylation of histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9me3) in the regulatory elements of the Il17 locus, and the effects of vitamin C were abrogated by knockdown of jumonji-C domain-containing protein 2 (jmjd2). These results suggest that vitamin C can affect the expression of IL17 by modulating the histone demethylase activity.

TWB 적용을 위한 6천계열 알루미늄 합금의 GMA용접 (GMAW of 6K21-T4 Aluminum Alloy for Tailor Welded Blank(TWB))

  • 본 연구에서는 차체 부품의 경량소재 대체에 따른 Panel Assembly Rear Seat Back 부품 제작에 최신 저입열 미그용접공정을 적용한 TWB(Tailor Welded Blank) 공정기술을 확보하기 위해 최적 용접조건 도출에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 용접 후 성형이 이뤄지는 제조공정의 특성 상 성형강도에 중점을 둔 실험을 진행하였으며, 이를 위해 각 와이어에 따른 용접부의 기계/금속학적 특성이 평가되었다. 대상 시편은 6천계열 열처리형 합금이며, 두께는 각각 1.6t, 1.4t로 이를 맞대기 용접 후 그 특성을 평가하였다. 용접은 저입열 GMA용접 공법 중 하나인 CMT 용접법(Cold Metal Transfer)을 사용하였으며, 평가 대상 와이어로는 4043, 4047, 5183 및 5356이 사용되었다. 특성평가는 마크로 및 마이크로 조직, 경도, 인장강도, 기공 및 결함, 성형강도 등에 대해 이뤄졌으며, 희석된 와이어의 조성이 용접부 특성에 미치는 영향에 대해서도 검토되었다. 실험 결과, 5천계열 와이어가 성형강도에 비교적 더 강인한 결과를 나타냈으며 성형강도는 용접조건 및 초기 갭에 대한 영향은 받았으나, 비드형상과 강도간의 연관성은 찾을 수 없었다. 이에 따라 TWB 적용을 위한 와이어로는 5356이 가장 우수한 것으로 판명되었다.

갈근탕 추출물의 카드뮴 독성에 대한 세포 보호효과 (Cytoprotective Effect of Galgeuntang Extract on Cadmium-Induced Cytotoxicity)

  • Cytotoxicity of cadmium on NIH 3T3 fibroblasts was utilized in order to discover antitoxic compound in Galgeuntang extract in this study. Treatment groups were chosen as follows; control (medium only), $MTT_{50}$ group and five experimental groups. MTT {3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazoliumbromide} method was performed to evaluate the cytotoxicity of cell organelles and $IC_{50}$ was also measured. Accordingly we have examined the detoxification effects of Galgeuntang extract on cadmium-treated NIH 3T3 fibroblasts to observe morphological changes by the light microscopy. Galgeuntang extract showed cytoprotective effects on cadmium-induced cytotoxicity. Furthermore, Galgeuntang showed a dose-dependency in detoxication. The phenolic content of Galgeuntang ethanol extract was higher than that of water content. These results suggest that Galgeuntang extract may be used as a cytoprotective agent against cadmium (II)-mediated cytotoxicity.

흰민들레와 서양민들레 추출물의 세포독성 및 항산화 활성 비교 (Cytotoxic and Antioxidant Effects of Taraxacum coreanum Nakai. and T. officinale WEB. Extracts)

  • Some studies of dandelion have been carried out on bioactivities, however, no comparative analysis on antioxidant and cytotoxic activities in the Korean dandelion (T. coreanum NAKAI.; KD) and dandelion (T. officinale WEB.) have been reported. In this study, the extracts of KD and dandelion analyzed relative phenolic contents and free radical scavenging, antioxidant enzyme and cytotoxic activities. The extract of Korean dandelion leaves (KDL) exhibited a higher phenolics content ($368{\pm}11.5\;mg/l00\;g$) and a strong free radical scavenging activity ($RC_{50}$value;87.89 ug/ml) than other parts and BHT (120.12 ug/ml), synthetic antioxidant. At ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activity, the dandelion root (DR) had a greater (38.8 U/mg protein) antioxidant enzyme compare to the dandelion leaves (12.2 U/mg protein). The catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) followed higher enzyme activity in Korean dandelion root (KDR) than other parts. In a cytotoxic activity against human cancer cell, the extracts of KDR was found to be active against Calu-6, HCT-116, and SNU-601 cell lines, with $IC_{50}$ values of 522.34, 532.74 and 614.85 ug/ml, respectively. These results suggest that KD and dandelion would be an alternative antioxidant source, based on natural plant resources.

Hydrolysis of Empty Fruit Bunch of Oil Palm Using Cellulolytic Enzymes from Aspergillus terreus IMI 28243

  • Hydrolysis of EFB (empty fruit bunch) derived from oil palm was studied using crude enzyme from Aspergillus terreus IMI 282743 along with commercial enzymes from Trichoderma reesei and Aspergillus niger. Hydrolysis at $40^{\circ}C$ and $50^{\circ}C$ with $\alpha$-cellulose or EFB gave significantly lower yield when commercial enzymes of T. reesei and A. niger were used and the hydrolysis time extended beyond 10 h. After 24 h of hydrolysis at $40^{\circ}C$ and $50^{\circ}C$, the filter paper activity (Fpase) from A. terreus retained as much activity as A. niger and it was significantly higher than T. reesei. Glucose concentration of 0.25% and 0.5% caused significant inhibition in the crude enzyme, but in regards to the commercial enzymes it only showed a slight effect. Crude enzymes from A. terreus could produce the highest reducing sugars when compared to commercial enzymes from T. reesei or A. niger. Nevertheless, low yield of sugar was observed for EFB for all treatments.

Immunosuppressive Effect of the Intraperitonially Injected Pine Needle Distillate in Mice

  • This study examined the effect of pine needle distillate (Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc) on the immune system and hematological parameters. C57BL/6 male mice weighing 20 ~21 g were divided into 3 groups and intraperitonially injected with either 200 $\mu$L of saline (control), 50% diluted (P50) or 100% pine needle distillate (P100) once a day for 24 days. At the end of the experiment, the mice were anesthetized by ether and peripheral blood was collected from the femoral artery and the spleen was excised. Spleen weight decreased significantly (p<0.001) in the pine needle groups compared to the control group. The blood was used for a complete blood count and flow cytometrical analysis after immunofluorescence staining. The pine needle distillate dose-dependently decreased the CD4$^{+}$/CD8 sup +/ ratio (p <0.05), and showed a tendency to increase the mean FSC (forward scatter) values of the CD8$^{+}$T cells, while decrease the values of the CD4$^{+}$T cells. There were no significant differences in WBC, RBC and platelet counts among the three groups, but hemoglobin and hemoglobin-related parameters and platelet volume increased and red blood cell volumes decreased with the administration of the pine needle distillate. These results suggest that the pine needle distillate may have immunosuppressive effects.

증착 Power의 세기와 시간에 따른 Fe-N 박막의 구조와 자성 특성 (A Study on Structure and Magnetic Properties of Fe-N Thin Films with Different DC Magnetron Sputtering Power and Time)

  • Due to the high saturation magnetization (~2.4 T), $Fe_{16}N_2$ is interesting for the thin film application such as an actuator, data record storage and sensor etc. In this study, Fe-N thin films were deposited on Si(001) substrate with various power and deposition time by DC magnetron sputtering, in order to get high portion of $Fe_{16}N_2$ phase. Surface morphology, phase formation and magnetic properties were measured. As a result, Saturation magnetization and Remanence magnetization reach to ~2.45 T and 1.41T. But, Coercivity was not enough in this experiments. Its value lower than 100 Oe. Which is very close to theoretical value.
