Hydrogen Desorption and Absorption Properties of MgH2, LiBH4, and MgH2 + LiBH4 Composite

  • To increase the hydrogen storage capacity of Mg-based materials, a sample with a composition of 69.7 wt% $MgH_2$ + 30.3 wt% $LiBH_4$ was prepared by planetary ball milling under hydrogen. The absorption and desorption properties of unmilled $MgH_2$, unmilled $LiBH_4$, and 69.7 wt% $MgH_2$ + 30.3 wt% $LiBH_4$ were examined. At 648 K the unmilled $MgH_2$ desorbed 5.70 wt% for 60 min. The unmilled $LiBH_4$ desorbed 6.40 wt% H for 780 min at 673 K. The 69.7 wt% $MgH_2$ + 30.3 wt% $LiBH_4$ sample desorbed 3.10 wt% H for 50 min, and 3.32 wt% H for 300 min at 623 K at the second cycle.

  • Hydrogen generation by the hydrolysis of aqueous sodium borohydride $(NaBH_4)$ solutions was studied using IRA-400 anion resin dispersed Pt. Ru catalysts and Lithium Cobalt oxide $(LiCoO_2)$ supported Pt, Ru and PtRu catalysts. The performance of the $LiCoO_2$ supported catalysts is better than the ion exchange resin dispersed catalysts. There is a marked concentration dependence on the performance of the $LiCoO_2$ supported catalysts and the hydrogen generation rate goes down if the borohydride concentration is increased beyond $10\%$. The efficiency of PtRu- $LiCoO_2$ is almost double that of either Ru-$LiCoO_2$ or Pt-$LiCoO_2$ for $NaBH_4$ concentrations up to $10\%$.

  • 수소발생 및 저장 물질로서 붕수소화나트륨($NaBH_4$)은 촉매 분해반응을 통하여 수소를 생성할 수 있는데, 이 프로타이드 화합물을 이용하여 가정용 또는 이동용 연료전지의 수소를 공급할 수 있어서, 이 화합물과 분해반응에 대한 연구가 많이 수행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 알칼리성 $NaBH_4$ 수용액을 귀금속이 담지된 금속산화물 촉매를 이용하여 가수분해반응을 일으키고, 그 분해반응 산물인 수소의 발생량을 측정하였다. 지지체로 사용한 금속산화물의 종류를 비교하고, 함침된 귀금속으로서 백금과 루테늄을 비교하였으며, 촉매사용량, $NaBH_4$ 용액의 농도 등의 영향을 고찰하고, 수소 발생 패턴을 조사하였다.

보란-염화리튬에 의한 유기화합물의 환원반응 (Effect of Lithium Chloride on the Borane Reduction of Organic Compound)

  • $BH_3$-THF 용액에 염화리튬을 가한 새로운 환원계의 환원특성에 대한 연구가 대표적인 작용기를 가진 유기화합물을 가지고 표준조건($0^{\circ}$, THF)에서 이루어졌다. 조사 연구된 화합물중 벤조페논, 4가지 에스테르 및 시클로헥센은 $BH_3$ 환원과 별 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 2-헵탄온, 아세토페논, 염화벤조일, 프탈산무수물, 그리고 3가지 에폭시화물은 소량의 염화리튬에 의해 빠른 속도로 환원이 완결 되었다. 특히 에폭시화시클로헥센의 환원에 있어서는 소량의 염화리튬 존재하에서는 정량적으로 시클로헥산올을 생성하였으나 염화리튬의 양이 증가하면 2-클로로시클로헥산올이 시클로헥산올과 함께 생성됨을 알았다. 또한, 에폭시화시클로헥센과의 반응에 있어서 질산리튬은 염화리튬과는 달리 별로 효과가 없었다. 따라서 보란-염화리튬용액에 클로로수소화붕소리튬의 생성가능성을 논의하였다.

Blue OLEDs Utilizing Spiro[fluorene 7,9'-benzofluorene]-type Compounds as Hosts and Dopants

  • A novel spiro-type host material, 5-[4-(1-naphthyl)phenyl]-spiro[fluorene-7,9'-benzofluorene] (BH-1PN) and three new dopants, namely, 5-[diphenylamino)phenyl]-spiro[fluorene-7,9'-benzofluorene] (BH-1TPA), 5-[4-(N-phenyl (m-tolyl)amino]-spiro[fluorene-7,9'-benzofluorene] (BH-1MDPA) and 5-[(N-phenyl)-2-naphthyl]amino-spiro[fluorene- 7,9'-benzofluorene] (BH-1NPA) were designed and successfully prepared using the Suzuki or amination reactions. The electroluminescence characteristics of BH-1PN as a blue host material doped with each of the blue dopants were evaluated. The structure of the device is ITO/DNTPD/NPB/BH-1PN:5% dopant/Alq3/Al-LiF. The device obtained from BH-1PN doped with diphenyl-[4-(2-[1,1;4,1]terphenyl-4-yl-vinyl)phenyl]-amine (BD-1) showed good color purity, efficiency, luminance, and current-density characteristics.

Electroluminescent Properties of Spiro[fluorene-benzofluorene]-Containing Blue Light Emitting Materials

  • New spiro[fluorene-7,9′-benzofluorene]-based blue host material, 5-phenyl-spiro[fluorene-7,9′-benzofluorene] (BH-1P), was successfully prepared by reacting 5-bromo-spiro[fluorene-7,9′-benzofluorene] (1) with phenyl boronic acid through the Suzuki reaction. 5-(N,N-Diphenyl)amino-spiro[fluorene-7,9′-benzofluorene] (BH-1DPA) and diphenyl-[4-(2-[1,1;4,1]terphenyl-4-yl-vinyl)-phenyl]amine (BD-1) were used as dopant materials. 2,5-Bis-(2',2"- bipyridin-6-yl)-1,1-diphenyl-3,4-diphenylsilacyclopentadiene (ET4) and Alq3 were used as electron transfer materials. Their UV absorption, photoluminescence and thermal properties were examined. The blue OLEDs with the configuration of ITO/DNTPD/$\alpha$-NPD/BH-1P:5% dopant/$Alq_3$ or ET4/LiF-Al prepared from the BH-1P host and BH-1DPA and BD-1 dopants showed a blue EL spectrum at 452 nm at 10 V and a luminance of 923.9 cd/$m^2$ with an efficiency of 1.27 lm/W at a current density of 72.57 mA/$cm^2$.

리튬이차전지용 Hollow Silicon/Carbon 음극소재의 전기화학적 성능 (Electrochemical Performance of Hollow Silicon/Carbon Anode Materials for Lithium Ion Battery)

  • 이차전지 음극소재인 실리콘의 부피팽창을 개선하기 위하여 hollow silicon/carbon (H-Si/C) 복합체의 특성을 조사하였다. $St{\ddot{o}}ber$법을 통해 합성한 $SiO_2$$NaBH_4$를 첨가해 hollow 형태의 $SiO_2\;(H-SiO_2)$를 제조한 후, 마그네슘 열 환원 반응과 phenolic 수지(resin)를 첨가한 후 탄화과정을 거쳐서 H-Si/C 복합체를 합성하였다. 제조된 H-Si/C 합성물은 XRD, SEM, BET, EDX, TGA를 통해 특성을 분석하였다. 음극소재의 용량과 사이클 안정성을 향상시키기 위해서, $NaBH_4$ 첨가량에 따라 합성된 H-Si/C 복합체의 전기화학적 특성을 충방전, 사이클, 순환전압전류, 임피던스 테스트를 통해 조사하였다. H-Si/C 음극활물질과 $LiPF_6$ (EC : DMC : EMC = 1 : 1 : 1 vol%) 전해액을 사용하여 제조한 코인셀은 $SiO_2:NaBH_4=1:1$일 때 1459 mAh/g의 향상된 용량을 나타내었으며, 사이클 성능 또한 두 번째 사이클 이후 40번째 사이클까지 매우 우수한 안정성을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

  • New spiro[benzo[c]fluorene-7,9'-fluorene] (SBFF)-based blue host materials, 9-phenyl-SBFF (BH-4P) and 5,9-diphenyl-SBFF (BH-6DP), were successfully prepared by spiro-formation of 9-phenyl-7H-benzo[c]fluoren-7-one with 2-bromobiphenyl via lithiation and reaction of 5,9-dibromo-SBFF with phenylboronic acid through the Suzuki reaction, respectively. Diphenyl-[4-(2-[1,1;4,1]terphenyl-4-yl-vinyl)-phenyl]-amine (BD-1) and N,N-diphenyl-N',N'-diphenyl-SBFF-5,9-diamine (BD-6DPA) were used as dopant materials. Blue OLEDs with the configuration ITO/N,N'-bis-[4-(di-m-tolylamino)phenyl]-N,N'-diphenylbiphenyl-4,4'-diamine (DNTPD)/bis[N-(1-naphthyl)-N-phenyl]benzidine (NPB)/host:5% dopant/SFC-137/Al-LiF were prepared from the two host materials doped with BD-1 and BD-6DPA dopants and the devices composed of BH-4P and BH-6DP doped with BD-6DPA showed blue EL spectra at 458 and 463 nm at 7 V and luminance efficiencies of 4.58 and 4.88 cd/A, respectively.

Berberine Hydrochloride Impact on Physiological Processes and Modulation of Twist Levels in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma CNE-1 Cells

  • Objective: The main purpose of this work was to investigate the effect of berberine hydrochloride (BH) on the proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion of CNE-1 nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. Our results shed light on the functional components of traditional Chinese herbs for potential use in modern medicine. Methods: The CNE-1 cell line was treated with different concentrations of BH and effects on cell viability and proliferation were evaluated using the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. Anti-migratory and anti-invasive actions of BH were investigated using wound healing assays and the Millicell Hanging cell culture insert system, respectively. Expression of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related gene twist (Twist) was analyzed by real-time PCR and Western blotting. Apoptosis was estimated with an annexin-V fluorescein (FITC) apoptosis detection kit, as well as with reference to levels of activated caspase-3 of CNE-1 cells before and after treatment with BH utilizing fluorescence spectroscopy. Results: BH was capable of reducing proliferation and viability of CNE-1 cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner, also demonstrating anti-migratory and anti-invasive capacities which correlated with reduction in expression of Twist. Finally, BH was able to induce significant amounts of apoptosis in CNE-1 cells, as demonstrated by an increase in the activity of caspase-3 and in annexin-V staining following treatment. Conclusion: BH extracted from rhizoma coptidis demonstrated an ability to block proliferation, induce apoptosis, and impair the migration and invasion of the CNE-1 cell line Considering these properties, our results suggest that BH could be an important compound for consideration in the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
