The outdoor antenna servo system is subject to has significant torque disturbances from wind pressures and gusts on the antenna structures, as well as bearing and aerodynamic frictions. This control system should provide a sharp directivity in spite of the environmental disturbances and internal uncertainties. Therefore, the implementation of a real-time controller is necessary for the precise generation of the reference signal and robust tracking performance. In this paper, the discrete-time controller for the quick tracking of a target communication satellite is designed by applying the sampled-data $H_{\infty}$ control theory along with the reference signal generated by an improved conventional step-tracking algorithm. The sampled-data $H_{\infty}$controller demonstrates superior robustness for the longer sampling period when compared with a simple PID controller.

This paper presents a novel application method of H$_{\infty}$ optimization method to the design of Power System Stabilizer(PSS) and experimental results through hardware simulator. The approach is focused on decision of performance index and selection strategy of weighting functions together with its tuning for direct design. As the Purpose of the PSS is to increase system damping at very narrow frequency band, weighting functions are determined differently from the case of general servo system control. The designed PSS was confirmed through experiments on a hardware simulator.

This paper proposes a mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ optimal PID controller with a genetic algorithm based on the dynamic model of a brushless direct current (BLDC) motor and applies it to speed control. In the dynamic model of the BLDC motor with perturbation, the proposed controller guarantees arobust and optimal tracking performance to the desired speed of the BLDC motor. A genetic algorithm was used to obtain parameters for the PID controller that satisfy the mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ constraint. To implement the proposed controller, a control system based on PIC18F4431 was developed. Numerical and experimental results are shown to prove that the performance of the proposed controller was better than that of the optimal PID controller.

In this paper, using $\mu$ synthesis algorithm with structured uncertainty, we design controller and apply it for the Two-Inertia resonance(TMS: Two Mass Spring) system. The TMS system is one of the simplest models which generate a torsional vibration. In this system, it is required to design a controller achieving the control performance while suppressing the torsional vibration. Furthermore, when vibration frequency for the system is varying by reason of parameter variations, we should consider parameter variations in controller design. Then, we design two other controller schemes of the PI controller and the standard $H_{\infty}$ controller and compare these controllers with the controller designed by the $\mu$ synthesis robust control method by using simulations and experiments.
In this paper, $H_2$, $H_{\infty}$, and mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ FIR filters are newly proposed for discrete-time state space signal models. The proposed filters require linearity, unbiased property, FIR structure, and independence of the initial state information in addition to the performance criteria in both $H_2$ and $H_{\infty}$ sense. It is shown that $H_2$, $H_{\infty}$, and mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ FIR filter design problems can be converted into convex programming problems via linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) with a linear equality constraint. Simulation studies illustrat that the proposed FIR filter is more robust against uncertainties and has faster convergence than the conventional IIR filters. the conventional IIR filters.
This paper presents a design method of dynamic positioning control system(DPS) for floating Platform with rotatable and retractable thrusters using H$\infty$ servo control design method. The norm band of uncertainty is captured by multiplicative perturbation between nominal model and reduced order model. A controller robust to the uncertainty is designed applying H$\infty$ synthesis. The control law satisfying robust stability and nominal performance condition is determined through the mixed sensitivity approach. The control algorithm was evaluated on the basis of computer simulation for a proposed DPS design method and experiments was carried out with an image processing method for measurement of DPS position in a water tank The results of overall experiments show that proposed control method will be good to keep at a specified position. And they are compared with the experimental results by LQG synthesis and H$\infty$ optimal control design method.

In this paper, a controller design method is proposed for haptic interface considering transparency and robust stability. For this, a performance index for the transparency as performance measure is defined in the points of impedance matching and the optimal solution which is minimizing the performance index is obtained by solving H2 optimal problem. In haptic interface, the modeling uncertainties can be restricted to that of haptic device. To implement the robust stabilizing haptic controller to the uncertainties of haptic device, a robust stable condition using H$\infty$ norm from small gain theorem is proposed. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed haptic controller design scheme, numerical examples and experimental results are illustrated for virtual wall consisting of stiffness and damping factor.
The performance of a mixed $H_{\infty}/H_2$ design with pole placement constraints based on robust vibration control for a piezo/beam system is investigated. The governing equation of motion for the piezo/beam system is derived by Hamilton's principle. The assumed mode method is used to discretize the governing equation into a set of ordinary differential equation. A robust controller is designed by $H_{\infty}/H_2$ feedback control law that satisfies additional constraints on the closed-loop pole location in the face of model uncertainties, which are derived for a general class of convex regions of the complex plane. These constraints are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) approach for the multiobjective synthesis. The validity and applicability of this approach for vibration suppressions of SMART structural systems are discussed by damping out the multiple vibrational modes of the piezo/beam system.

she purpose of this paper is to propose an approach to suppress the vibration of three-mass inertia system based on the LMI theory. and confirm its validity through simulations under the condition of parameter variation. First, the existing $H_{\infty}$ servo problem is modified to a structure to which the LMI theory can be applied by virtue of the interval model principle. By adopting this structure, we can divide given specifications fur the vibration suppression problem into $H_2$and $H_{\infty}$ performance criteria. The results of simulation for the three-mass inertia system show that the proposed design approach is quite effective.

In this paper, an $\mathfrak{H}$_/$\mathfrak{H}_{\infty}$ fault detection and isolation (FDI) observer design problem is investigated for discrete-time delayed systems. To that end, a bank consisting of the sensor's number of observers is introduced. Each residual should be sensitive to a certain partial group of faults, but robust against the disturbance as far as possible. We formulate this multiobjective FDI problem as $\mathfrak{H}$_/$\mathfrak{H}_{\infty}$ observers design problem. Sufficient design condition is expressed as iterative linear matrix inequalities. The fault is then detected and isolated by evaluating the residuals through an FDI decision logic. A computer simulation is provided for verification of the proposed technique.
