The main purpose of this study is to develop the greenhouse gas emission factor for power plant using bituminous coal. The power plant is a major source of greenhouse gases among the sectors of fossil fuel combustion, thus information of its emission factors is very essential to the establishment of control strategies for the greenhouse gas emissions. These emission factors derived in this study were compared with those of U. S. EPA, AGO and CCL. The $CO_{2}$ concentrations in the flue gas were measured using NDIR analyser and the GC-FID with a methanizer. The amount of carbon (C) and hydrogen (H) in fuel was measured using an elemental analyzer. Calorific values of fuel were also measured using a calorimeter. Caloric value of bituminous coal used in the power plants were 5,957 (as received basis), 6,591 (air-dried basis) and 6,960 kcal/kg (dry basis). Our estimates of carbon emission factors were lower than those of IPCC. The CO2 emission factors for the power plants using bituminous coal were estimated to be 0.791 Mg/MWh (by carbon contents and caloric value of the fuel) and 0.771 Mg/MWh (by $CO_{2}$ concentration of the flue gas). The $CO_{2}$ emission factors estimated in this study were $3.4\sim 5.4\%$ and $4.4\sim 6.7\%$ lower than those of CCL (2003) and U. S. EPA (2002).
This paper proposes a scheme to estimate the technical efficiency of energy consumption and production and shadow prices of $CO_2$ emission in country-level at Asia Pacific countries by Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The result of technical efficiency estimation shows that there exists an heterogeneity and a substantial opportunity for improvement in technical efficiency at energy consumption and production across countries, specially in the $CO_2$ emission, which implies that more pollutant are spread in air. Each country will have the different willingness to pay for the additional $CO_2$ emission right and this result enables us to predict the competition in international $CO_2$ emission right market.
MILD combustion has been successfully applied to gaseous fuels and few commercial systems are now in operation. Extending MILD combustion applicability to solid fuel of sawdust is the focus of the present work. The MILD combustion furnace at the University of Adelaide in Australia was used in this study. A measurement of $O_2$ and CO emissions have been carried out in parallel with consideration of NOx emission and compared in each modes of conventional natural gas combustion, natural gas MILD combustion, NOx emission in natural gas MILD combustion mode can be reduced to 20% in comparison with conventional combustion. Emission in cases of air carrying sawdust combustion and $CO_2$ carrying sawdust combustion were also compared. Air and $CO_2$ were sued as a carry gas for the sawdust. It was found that MILD conditions are possible for sawdust particles of less than $355{\mu}m$ without additional air pre-heating. It was also found that when using $CO_2$ as the carry gas the flame inside the furnace was not visible anymore and that NOx emission dropped to less than two folds.

RC(Reinforced Concrete) structures can keep their performance during intended service life through initial service life and extension of the life through repairs. In the deterministic repairing method, cost and the related $CO_2$ emission increase with step-shaped escalation, however continuous results can be obtained through probabilistic repairing technique, and this is capable of reducing $CO_2$ emission through $CO_2$ absorption. In the work, repairing timing and $CO_2$ emission/absorption are evaluated based on the different methods like deterministic and probabilistic manner. The probabilistic technique considering $CO_2$ absorption with carbonation progress is evaluated to be very effective to reduction of $CO_2$ emission through extension of initial and additional service life due to repairs. When the variations of the service life from initial construction and repair material can be determined, the proposed technique can contribute to reduction of cost and $CO_2$ with decreasing repairing number.
Post-kyoto regime has been discussing with the GHG reduction commitment. GHG energy target management system also has been applied for the domestic measures in the country. Universities are major emission sources for GHG. It is very important for campus to built the GHG inventory system and estimate the potential GHG emission reduction. In general, GHG inventory on the campus was taken by the IPCC guidance with the classification of scope 1, 2, and 3. Electricity was the highest portion of GHG emission on the campus as 5,053.90 $tonsCO_2eq/yr$ in 2009. Manufacturing sector was the second high emission and meant GHG in laboratory. Potential GHG reduction was planned by several assumptions such as installation of occupancy sensor, exchanging LED lamp and photovoltaic power generation. These reduction scenarios was simulated by LEAP model. In 2020, outlook of GHG emission was estimated by 17,435.98 tons of $CO_2$ without any plans of reduction. If the reduction scenarios was applied in 2020, GHG emission would be 16,507.60 tons of $CO_2$ as 5.3% potential reduction.
This study applies the Luenberger indicator approach to estimate productivity of the Korean fossil-fueled power plants. A panel data set of 25 power plants was used. The method incorporates $CO_2$ emission as an undesirable output and shows that ignoring $CO_2$ emission overestimates the productivity change. There are two sources of overestimation. First, the usual method estimates productivity change ignoring the increase in $CO_2$ emission that occurred during the study period. Second, the productivity change estimated by the usual method that does not incorporate $CO_2$ emission is very sensitively affected by the change in operation rate. The paper decomposes the productivity change into the efficiency change and the technical change. The results show that the two sources contribute to the productivity change almost equally. It is also shown that the size and the pattern of productivity change are dependent on the plants' fuel types. Non-LNG power plants which saved their energy consumption and thereby reduced their $CO_2$ emission have achieved relatively high rate of productivity improvement.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the combustion emission characteristics by the effect of secondary air injection and variation of the excess air ratio in combustion field of model gas turbine combustor. For this purpose, mean temperature, CO, $CO_2$, $O_2$ and HC concentrations were measured by changing excess air ratio and secondary air injection. As a result of this study, mean temperature was decreased and CO, HC emission increased by increasing the excess air ratio of secondary air. Therefore, this results showed the secondary air injection effected strongly on the flame structure and combustion emission characteristics.
We present the far-ultraviolet fluorescent molecular hydrogen ($H_2$) emission map observed with FIMS/SPEAR for ~76% of the sky. The fluorescent $H_2$ emission is found to be saturated by strong dust extinction at the optically thick, Galactic plane region. However, the extinction-corrected intensity of fluorescent $H_2$ emission is found to have strong linear correlations with the well-known tracers of the cold interstellar medium, such as the E(B-V) color excess, neutral hydrogen column density N(HI), $H{\alpha}$ emission, and CO $J=1{\rightarrow}0$ emission. The all-sky molecular hydrogen column density map is also obtained using a photodissociation region model. We also derive the gas-to-dust ratio, hydrogen molecular fraction ($f_{H2}$), and $CO-to-H_2$ conversion factor ($X_{CO}$) of the diffuse interstellar medium. The gas-to-dust ratio is consistent with the standard value $5.8{\times}10^{21}atoms\;cm^{-2}mag^{-1}$, and the $X_{CO}$ tends to increase with E(B-V), but converges to the Galactic mean value $1.8{\times}10^{20}cm^{-2}K^{-1}km^{-1}s$ at optically thick regions with E(B-V)>2.0.
The characteristics of mild combustion and pollutant emission were investigated computationally with supplied air stream temperature and dilution rate in jet flame. The air was diluted with main combustion products. As dilution rate increased at fixed air temperature, the temperature distribution of burner inside was uniformed and the maximum mole fraction of CO and NO was decreased. In addition, emission indices for NO, CO, and $CO_2$ were compared with air temperature and dilution rate.

In this study, the anthracite coal being used as fuel in Korea were classified into different types. These types include the domestically produced anthracite, imported anthracite used as raw material, and imported anthracite used as fuel. Each of the calorific values and greenhouse gas emission factors were calculated. The calculation of greenhouse gas emission factors resulted in the domestically produced anthracite as $111,477{\pm}4,508kg\;CO_2/TJ$, the imported anthracite used as raw material as $108,358{\pm}4,033kg\;CO_2/TJ$, and anthracite used as fuel was displayed as $103,927{\pm}8,367kg\;CO_2/TJ$. Additionally, the amount of greenhouse gas emission based on these calculated emission factors was displayed as $6,216,942ton\;CO_2$, which resulted as 12.7% lower than the green house gas emission amount which was calculated without distinguishing anthracite coal in details. Therefore, collecting activity data through a detailed classification of anthracites facilitate a more accurate calculation of greenhouse gas emission amount compared to collecting activity data through combination. Furthermore, since the anthracite coal used domestically possesses characteristics differing from the anthracite coal proposed by the IPCC, anthracite coal should be classified for each purpose and calculated for the improvement of the national greenhouse gas inventory.
