Changes of Lactulose Content during Heat Treatment of Milk (우유의 열처리 및 저장 조건에 따른 Lactulose의 함량 변화)

  • The aim of this work to determine the formation of lactulose during heat treatment process as a contribution to the estabilishment of limits of chemical indicators for different types of heat processed milk and analyze of lactulose for the reconstituted milk added samples. The HTST(75$\^{C}$/15s) and UHT(130$\^{C}$/2∼3s) treatment realized with a pilot plant and heat-treated samples were stroed at 4, 10, 30$\^{C}$ for 4 weeks. Changes in lactulose was evaluated at 7 days intervals. The other heat treatment was sealed in glass tube and heated at 75$\^{C}$ for 10 to 120s and heated at 130$\^{C}$ for 2 to 60s in a thermostatically controlled constant temperature bath of glycerol. The reconstituted milk was made with full fat dry milk that reconstituted with deionized water to 10% total solid, and was added to milk at 10, 20, 30% respectively. The samples processed with a HTST pilot plant showed that lactulose was contained at 1.47∼1.52mg/10()ml and 8.19 ∼8.32mg/100ml for UHT-treated samples. Changes in the lactulose content of heat-treated samples during storage at 4 and 10$\^{C}$ for 4 weeks caused a slight increase, however a noticeable increase was observed at 30$\^{C}$ for 4 week. The glass tube samples showed that high correlations between relative increase in content of lactulose and increasing processing times(75$\^{C}$ : r = 0.986, 130$\^{C}$ : r = 0.987, respectively). Added with reconstituted milk would cause a increase of the lactulose content linear with increasing addition amount(r = 0.982). This results observed for lactulose in commercial milk samples would applied to the detection of chemical changes during heat treatment and illegal use of reconstituted milk.

  • The structural and electric properties of $Y_{1-x}$YbF$_{x}$Ba$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$O$_{7-y}$(x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6) have been investigated by using XRD(X-ray diffraction), TMA(thennomechanical analysis), NMR(nuclear magnetic resonance) analysis and four probe method. $Y_{1-x}$YbF$_{x}$Ba$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$O$_{7-y}$ samples were prepared by conventional solid-state reaction method using $Y_{2}$O$_{3}$, BaCO$_{3}$, CuO and YbF$_{3}$ power. TMA and high temperature XRD results shows that orthorhombic to tetragonal phase transition occurs in the unfluorinated 1-2-3 sample while the phase change is not observed in the fluorinated 1-2-3 samples. Superconducting transition temperature(T$_{c}$) increases with increasing YbF$_{3}$ content ; T$_{c}$, of the sample reaching maximum of 102K for x=0.3, and then decreases with further increasing YbF$_{3}$ content. The structural analysis and T$_{c}$ results shows that the fluorine doping stabilize the orthorhombic phase, together with the increase in T$_{c}$.}$ c/.TEX> c/.

Properties of Blood Compatible Crosslinked Blends of $Pellethene^{(R)}$/Multiblock Polyurethanes Containing Phospholipid Moiety/C-18 Alkyl Chain

  • To improve the mechanical properties, dimensional stability and blood compatibility, the biomedical material $Pellethene^{(R)}$ was blended with multiblock polyurethane (MPU) containing phospopholipid/long alkyl chain (C-18) at the various MPU contents and crosslinked using dicumyl peroxide as a crosslinking agent. The maximum MPU content for stable $Pellethene^{(R)}$/MPU blended films was approximately 30 wt%. The optimum crosslinking agent content and crosslinking time with respect to the mechanical properties were 4 wt% and 3 h, respectively. The mechanical properties (tensile strength and elongation at break) and water absorption of the crosslinked blend film increased with increasing MPU content. The test of platelet adhesion on the surfaces of the crosslinked blend film showed a decrease in the level of platelet adhesion from 70% to 6% with increasing MPU content from 0 to 30 wt%. These results suggest that the crosslinked $Pellethene^{(R)}$/MPU-30 (MPU content: 30 wt%) sample has strong potential as a novel material for blood compatible material applications.

  • In order to study the mechanical properties of basalt fiber reinforced ultra-fine fly ash concrete (BFUFARC), the effects of ultra-fine fly ash (UFA) content, basalt fiber content, basalt fiber length and water reducing agent content on the compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength of the composite material were studied through experimental and theoretical analysis. Also, a scanning electron microscope (SEM) was employed to analyze the mesoscopic structure in the fracture surface of composite material specimens at magnifications of 500 and 3500. Besides, the energy release rate (Gc) and surface free energy (γs) of crack tip cracking on BFUFARC in different basalt fiber content were studied from the perspective of fracture mechanics. Further, the cracking resistance, reinforcement, and toughening mechanisms of basalt fibers on concrete substrate were revealed by surface free energy of BFUFARC. The experimental results indicated that basalt fiber content is the main influence factor on the splitting tensile strength of BFUFARC. In case that fiber content increased from 0 to 0.3%, the concrete surface free energy at the tip of single-sided crack showed a trend of increased at first and then decreased. The surface free energy reached at maximum, about 3.59 × 10-5 MN/m. During the process of increasing fiber content from 0 to 0.1%, GC-2γS showed a gradually decreasing trend. As a result, an appropriate amount of basalt fiber can play a preventing cracking role by increasing the concrete surface free energy, further effectively improve the concrete splitting tensile performance.

Identification of Quantitative Trait Loci Associated with Isoflavone Contents in Soybean Seed

  • Soybean seeds contain high amounts of isoflavones that display biological effects and isoflavone content of soybean seed can vary by year, environment, and genotype. Objective of this study was to identify quantitative trait loci that underlie isoflavone content in soybean seeds. The study involved 85 $F_2$ populations derived from Korean soybean cultivar 'Kwangkyo' and wild type soybean 'IT182305' for QTL analysis associated with isoflavone content. Isoflavone content of seeds was determined by HPLC. The genetic map of 33 linkage groups with 207 markers was constructed. The linkage map spanned 2,607.5 cM across all 33 linkage groups. The average linkage distance between pair of markers among all linkage groups was 12.6 cM in Kosambi map units. Isoflavone content in $F_2$ generations varied in a fashion that suggested a continuous, polygenic inheritance. Eleven markers (4 RAPD, 3 SSR, 4 AFLP) were significantly associated with isoflavone content. Only two markers, Satt419 and CTCGAG3 had F-tests that were significant at P<0.01 in $F_2$ generation for isoflavone content. Interval mapping using the $F_2$ data revealed only two putative QTLs for isoflavone content. The peak QTL region on linkage group 3, which was near OPAG03c, explained $14\%$ variation for isoflavone content. The peak QTL region on linkage group 5, which was located near OPN14 accounted for $35.3\%$ variation for isoflavone content. Using both Map-Maker-QTL $(LOD{\geq}2.0)$ and single-factor analysis $(P{\leq}0.05)$, one marker, CTCGAG3 in linkage group 3 was associated with QTLs for isoflavone content. This information would then be used in identification of QTLs for isoflavone content with precision

  • To evaluate the nutritive value, 13 Wild vegetables which commonly used for side dish were analyzed. Their Moisture are lower than that of other vegetables. Crude Protein content of thess Wild vegetables is more than 2% , which is higher than that of other vegetables and these tendencies were also shown in the content of Crude Ash. The content of Crude Fat and of Crude Fiber are similar in the Wild vegetables, but Crude Fiber of C. lanceolata TRAUTV is three times higher than that of other Wild vegetables. In all Wild vegetables, the K content of Mineral is similar, but that of C. lanceolata TRAUTV is very low. The content of Ca and P are quite different among Wild vegetables. The content of Mg is also similar each other, about 16mg%, but that of P. agwilinum var. latiusculum UNDERW, A. elata SEEM, A. altissima SWINGLE, root of A. triphylla (Thunb.)A.DC., H.Thunbergii BAK. is 8.99, 7.69, 4.30, 4.13 and 1.92mg% respectively. Total Amino acids were contained in order of A. elata; 3072.4mg%>C. lanceolata TRAUTV; 2709.4mg%>P. agwilinum var. latiusculum UNDERW, A. altissimB SWTNGLE, A. Japonica KOIDZ, S.palmata MAX. : about 2350mg%>L.Jaluensis KOM., P.Caponicus MAX., leaf of A. triphylla(Thunb.)A.DC., C.Japonicum var. ussuriense, H.plantaginea ASCHERS; about 1400mg%>H.Thunbergii BAK., A.scaber THUNB, root of A. triphylla(Thunb.) A.DC. ; about 600mg%, Asp.A.A. and Glu.A.A. content, 46% of Total A.A. is higher than other Amino acids and the content of Arg. A.A. in C.lanceolata TRAUTV which is higher than that of other Amino acids is 6 times highly than that of other Wild vegetables. A. altissima SWINGLE, H.plantaginea ASCHERS, A.Japonica KOIDZ contain Vitamin C a little avobe, 45.9mg%, 36.8mg%, 30.2mg% respectively. Glucoslde content of L.Jaluensis KOM., C.lanceolata TRAUTV which are 4.1%, 3.5%, were highest of all ana that of P.Caponicus MAX., P.agwilinum var. latiusculum UNDERW, 2.2%, 2.0% is in the second, which seems to be the cause of bitter taste.

A Study on the Properties of Concrete with the Kinds of Stabilizing Agent and Solid Content (회수수 안정화제 종류 및 고형분량 변화에 따른 콘크리트의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study is investigated the various properties of concrete with the kinds of stabilizing agent of recycling water and solid content in order to suggest a practical use of recycling water According to the results. fluidity and air content varies slightly with the kinds of stabilizing agent and solid content, but does not make a big difference. Setting time does not differ remarkably from plain concrete at 2$0^{\circ}C$, but is shortened with an increase of solid content. Bleeding is reduced more largely in the case of S than in the case of R, and is not influenced by solid content. Compressive strength is equal or decreases in comparison with plain concrete at solid content of 1 and 5%, and shows the highest value at solid content of 3%. Length change by drying shrinkage is larger than plain concrete at solid content of 5%, and decreases at solid content of 1 and 3%. Therefore, it proves that the influence of the kinds of stabilizing agent is minute, and solid content is most effective at 3%.

Temperature Dependence of Initial Adsorption Rate of Soybean (콩의 초기 흡습속도의 온도의존성)

  • The initial moisture adsorption of soybeans was examined under the conditions : RH, 57-86% ; temperature, $16^{\circ}-34^{\circ}C$, and storage time, 100 hours. The changes in moisture content as a function of time held a relation: log dw/dt=b log t + log a, where w is the moisture content (%, db), t is time (hour) and a and b are the parameters which were calculated from the experimental data. The calculated moisture content from the equation agreed well with the measured moisture content. The activation energy of initial adsorption rate was about 15500cal/g-mole in all soybeans. The initial adsorption rate at temperature $16^{\circ}-28^{\circ}C$ could be estimated from a following equation : log(log dw/dt)=-15500/2.303RT.

Optimization of Rice (Oryza Sativa) Malting Process by Second-Order Experimental Design

  • The malting process of rice (OM4080 variety from Mekong Delta Rice Research Institute) was studied under pilot condition plan by means of the second-order experimental design. Processing parameters, such as the steeping time (0-60 hrs), steeping temperature ($5-45^{\circ}C$), germination time (0-8 days), germination temperature ($5-45^{\circ}C$) and gibberellin concentration (0-2 mg/kg) were investigated. As a result, all germination conditions, especially germination time, germination temperature, and gibberellin concentration had a significant effect on the malting loss, amylase activity and starch content. The protein content was not clearly affected by any conditions. The optimum conditions for malting process (with highest amylase activity) were as follows: 30 hrs of steeping time, $30-35^{\circ}C$ of steeping temperature, 5-5.5 days of germination time, $25^{\circ}C$ of germination temperature, and 1.5 mg/kg of giberrellin concentration.

A Study on the Technique to Manufacture Recycled Cement from Cementitious Powders for Complete Recycling of Concrete Structures (콘크리트 구조물의 완전순환이용을 위한 폐콘크리트계 미분말의 재생시멘트 활용 기술 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is development of technique to use cementitious powder as recycle cement produced from deteriorated Concrete waste which has a large quantity of calcium carbonate. Therefore, after having theoretical consideration based on the properties of high-heated concrete and concerning about neutralization of Concrete, we analysis chemical properties of ingredients of cementitious powder. After making origin cement paste, then processing the accelarated carbonation, we consider the properties of hydration and chemical properties of cementitious powder under various temperature conditions. As a result of the thermal analysis, the $CaCO_3$ content of cementitious powder would affect decision of heat temperature to recover its hydrated ability because $CaCO_3$ content is increased when neutralization is progressed. And as a result of XRD analysis, in case of origin powder of non-neutralized paste, CaO peak is found at $700^{\circ}C$. but, heat temperature to generate CaO would increase when the content of neutralized ingredients is increased. Finally, recycle cement heated at $700^{\circ}C$ 120min. shows the best compressive strength when the content of neutralized ingredients in recycle cement is less then 50%.
