A new amine receptor 2 utilizing anthracene and nitrophenyl group as signaling group was designed and synthesized. The receptor 2 only utilizes four amine N-H's and 9-anthracenyl hydrogen to bind anions. The receptor 2 can bind anions through hydrogen bonds with a selectivity of $CH_3CO_2^-$ > $H_2PO_4^-$ > $F^-$ > $C_6H_5CO_2^-$ > $Cl^-$ in highly polar solvent such as DMSO without protonation of amine.
1) Respiratory metabolism patterns and its enzyme systems in the gill tissue of the fresh water mussels, Cristaria plicata were investigated through the examination on the effects of respiratory enzyme inhibitors, (KCN, NAF) and succinoxidase assay, while studying the effects of neutral salts (NaCL, KCL, CaCl2) and pH on oxygen consumption of the gill tissue. 2) In the limited concentration of KCL (0.3mM) and NaCl (0.4mM) solutions, oxygen consumption of the intact gill tissue was accelerated, but in CaCl2(0.5mM) solution, it showed no significant effect. The oxygen consumption was gradually decreased at the above concentrations of these limitations. The optimum pH for the respiration of the gill was 7.3. 3)Cyanide in 10-8M solution inhibited 88.8% of the respiration of the intact gill tissue. Methylene blue accelerated the respiration of the noral gill tissue, and slightly but significantly reversed the cyaniide poisoned respiration. 4)Oxygen consumption of the gill homogenate was apparently increased by the mixed addition of succinate, cytochrome c and activators (AlCl3 and CaCl2). This results suggested that succinoxidase system acts on the respiratory pattern of the gil tissue. 5) It was able to recognize that the enolase, which acts on the anaerobic glycolytic system, participated in the tissue respiration of the gill for NaF in 5$\times$10-2 M solution inhibited 55.5% of the respiration of the same intact tissue.
The compound B(C6F5)3 and its variations have been widely employed as alkyl carbanion abstracting reagents to produce metallocene cations for olefin polymerization.1-3 Weakly coordinating anions containing boron can greatly improve the activity of metallocene catalysts used in industrial olefin polymerization4 and thus group IV and V metallocene complexes of the organohydroborate anions have been intensively investigated.5 Recently, many organohydroborate metallocene complexes have been reported by Shore and co-workers.6-8 A common structural feature of those complexes is the three-center two electron M-H-B bond, like that observed in transition metal tetrahydroborate complexes but the reactivity and fluxional behavior of organohydroborate complexes are unlike those of the tetrahydroborate analogues.6 Although many of those metallocenes have been synthesized, few complexes could be used in the olefin polymerization and then this laboratory has been involved in the chemistry of the cyclic organohydroborate anions, and their group IV metallocene derivatives for the catalyst.9 Described here is recent work that led to the preparation of a novel cyclic organohydroborate hafnocene complex (h5-C5H5)2Hf ?(μ-H)2BC8H14 ,Cl. The hafnocene complex contains the three-center two electron bond Hf-H-B10 in which the hydride abstraction for olefin polymerization may occur.

In this study, PZT etching was performed using planar inductively coupled Ar(20)/$Cl_2/BCl_3$ plasma, The etch rate of PZT film was 2450 $\AA/min$ at Ar(20)/$BCl_3$(80) gas mixing ratio and substrate temperature of $80^{\circ}C$. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis for film composition was utilized. The chemical bond of PbO is broken by ion bombardment, and the peak of metal Pb in a Pb 4f peak begins to appear upon etching, decreasing Pb content faster than Zr and Ti. As increase content of additive $BCl_3$, the relative content of oxygen decreases rapidly. We thought that abundant Band BCl radicals made volatile oxy-compound such as $B_{x}O_{y}$ and/or $BClO_x$ bond. To understand etching mechanism, Langmuir probe and optical emission spectroscopy (OES) analysis were utilized for plasma diagnostic.
The $H_2Ge=Ge:$ and its derivatives ($X_2Ge=Ge:$, X = H, Me, F, Cl, Br, Ph, Ar${\ldots}{\ldots}$) is a new species. Its cycloaddition reactions is a new area for the study of germylene chemistry. The mechanism of the cycloaddition reaction between singlet state Cl2Ge=Ge: and formaldehyde has been investigated with CCSD(T)//MP2/$6-31G^*$ method. From the potential energy profile, it could be predicted that the reaction has only one dominant reaction pathway. The reaction rule presented is that the two reactants first form a fourmembered Ge-heterocyclic ring germylene through the [2+2] cycloaddition reaction. Because of the 4p unoccupied orbital of Ge: atom in the four-membered Ge-heterocyclic ring germylene and the ${\pi}$ orbital of formaldehyde forming a ${\pi}{\rightarrow}p$ donor-acceptor bond, the four-membered Ge-heterocyclic ring germylene further combines with formaldehyde to form an intermediate. Because the Ge: atom in intermediate hybridizes to an $sp^3$ hybrid orbital after transition state, then, intermediate isomerizes to a spiro-Ge-heterocyclic ring compound via a transition state. The research result indicates the laws of cycloaddition reaction between $H_2Ge=Ge:$ and formaldehyde, and laid the theory foundation of the cycloaddition reaction between $H_2Ge=Ge:$ and its derivatives ($X_2Ge=Ge:$, X = H, Me, F, Cl, Br, Ph, Ar${\ldots}{\ldots}$) and asymmetric ${\pi}$-bonded compounds, which is significant for the synthesis of small-ring and spiro-Ge-heterocyclic compounds. The study extends research area and enriches the research content of germylene chemistry.
This study was conducted to develop a japonica-type rice cultivar with brown planthopper (BPH) resistance using DNA markers. A doubled haploid (DH) population consisting of 120 pure-lines was established by anther culture of $F_1$ hybrids between 'Samgang', a Tongil type BPH resistance cultivar, and 'Nagdong', a japonica cultivar. To determine the map position of genes responsible for BPH resistance in rice, a genetic map was constructed based on 120 DH lines. A total of 162 molecular markers were classified into 12 linkage groups, covering 1,884 Kosami centimorgan (cM) with an average of 11.6 cM. Five QTLs (qBPR3, qBPR6, qBPR7, qBPR8, and qBPR12) associated with BPH resistance were identified and mapped on chromosomes 3, 6, 7, 8, and 12, respectively, using the genetic map constructed in this study. To analyze the relationship between BPH resistance and agronomic traits, a total of eight QTLs related to the agronomic traits were detected on 12 rice chromosomes. In an analysis of relationships, three QTLs (qBPR3, qBPR7, and qBPR8) showed a linkage with tested agronomic traits. A QTL (qBPR3) located on chromosome 3 (RM282-3023) was closely linked to culm length (qCL3). The QTL (qBPR8) for BPH resistance on the short arm of chromosome 8 also overlapped the region detected in culm length (qCL8).

To estimate the shelf life of red cabbage sprouts (stored at 4 and $10^{\circ}C$), the numbers of total aerobic bacteria were determined during storage. Parameters for the Gompertz model were determined and the shelf life was predicted using a modified Gompertz equation. The estimated shelf lives of red cabbage sprouts packed with polyolefin film and polyamide/polyamide/polyethylene (PA/PA/PE) film at $4^{\circ}C$ were 49.4 and 52.3 h, respectively, whereas those of red cabbage sprouts packed with polyolefin film and PA/PA/PE film at $10^{\circ}C$ were 19.7 and 22.6, respectively. The shelf life prediction equation was appropriate, based on the statistical analysis of the accuracy factor, bias factor, and mean square error. On the other hand, for red cabbage sprouts treated with aqueous $ClO_2$/fumaric acid and UV-C then packed with polyolefin film or PA/PA/PE film, the shelf life was predicted to be longer than 168 h. These results suggest that the combined treatment of aqueous $ClO_2$/fumaric acid and UV-C can be useful for improving microbial safety and extending the shelf life of red cabbage sprouts during storage.
The boronizing effects of STD 61 steel have been studied on the micro structure and hardness. The STD 61 Steel was soaked in molten salt, consisted of KCl, $BaCl_2$, NaF, $B_2O_3$, FeB, and Ce, at various temperatures and times. The boronizing conditions for the peak hardness were the temperature range of $900^{\circ}C$ to $950^{\circ}C$ for 5 hr and that of $1000^{\circ}C$ for 3 hr, respectively. Four boride layers such as FeB, $Fe_2B$, ${\alpha}$ and matrix layer surface were observed from the microscopic surface examination. The thickness of boride layer was increased by increasing the boronizing time and the temperature. The structure of boride layer was tooth shape.
Dioxobis(sub.-salicylaldiminato) molybdenum (VI) complexes, $MoO_2\;(X-sal-N-R)_2,\;(X=H,\;5-CH_3,\;R=C_6H_5,\;p-F-C_6H_4,\;m-Cl-C_6H_4,p-I-C_6H_4\;and\;p-C_2H_5-C_6H_4)$, have been prepared by reactions of dioxobis(sub.-salicylaldehydato) molybdenum (VI), $MoO_2(X-sal)_2$ with primary amines, in which $MoO_2(X-sal)_2$ complexes were obtained by acidification of a mixture solution of ammonium paramolybdate in water and appropriate salicylaldehyde in methanol. All these complexes show two strong Mo=O stretching imodes in the 900-940$cm^{-1}$ and p.m.r. spectra exhibited only one signal for the azomethine group. These results confirmed that the complexes are six-coordinated octahedron with a $cis-MoO_2$ group and the geometrical configurations of the complexes possess a C2 axis of symmetry. From the mass analyses of the complexes, it found that the composition ratios of $MoO_2$ : ligand are 1 : 2. The charge transfer transition corresponding to N-Mo, and O-Mo occured at 29,000$cm^{-1}$ and 32,000$cm^{-1}$ respectively. Where, the complexes were found to be non-ionic materials by conductivity measurements in dimethylformamide.
Electronic properties of passive films formed on Ti at film formation potentials $(E_f)V_{SCE}$ in pH 8.5 buffer solution and in an artificial seawater were examined through the photocurrent measurement and Mott-Schottky analysis. The passive films formed on Ti in pH 8.5 buffer solution exhibited a n-type semiconductor with a band gap energys $(E_g);E_g^{n=2}=3.4$ eV for nondirect electron transition, and $E_g^{n=0.5}=3.7$ eV for direct electron transition. These band gap values were almost same as those for the passive films formed in artificial seawater, indicating that chloride ion ($Cl^-$ in solution did not affect the electronic structure of the passive film on Ti. $E_g$ for passive films formed on Ti were found to be greater than those ($E_g^{n=0.5}=3.1$ eV, $E_g^{n=2}=3.4$) for a thermal oxide film formed on Ti in air at $400^{\circ}C$. The disorder energy of passive film, determined from the absorption tail of photocurrent spectrum, was much greater than that for the thermal oxide film farmed on Ti in air at $400^{\circ}C$. The greater $E_g$ and the higher disorder energy for the passive film compared with those for the thermal oxide fIlm suggest that the passive film on Ti exhibited more disorded structure than the thermal oxide film. The donor density (about $2.4{\times}10^{20}cm^{-3}$) for the passive film formed in artificial seawater was greater than that (about $20{\times}10^{20}cm^{-3}$) formed in pH 8.5 buffer solution, indicating that $Cl^-$ increased the donor density for the passive film on Ti.
