Background: This study aimed to assess the toxicity of capsaicin (CP) pharmacopunture in an animal model. Methods: The toxicity of a single-muscular dose of CP (45.45 mg/mL) was evaluated in 6-week-old male and female Sprague-Dawley rats. A total of 20 rats were assigned to 2 groups which were sex and weight matched. All rats acclimatized for 1 week before receiving 1.0 mL of CP (45.45 mg/mL) or normal saline solution (control) intramuscularly. The general condition and mortality of the animals were observed. The rats were sacrificed 2 weeks after CP was administered and histopathology was performed. Results: No abnormal symptoms or deaths were observed, and there was no difference in body weights between the CP and control groups throughout the study. No significant differences in histopathology were observed between the groups. Conclusion: No toxicological changes related to the administration of CP were observed. This study indicated that the safe dose of CP in Sprague-Dawley rats was 1.0 mL of CP (45.45 mg/mL) or less. Further studies are needed to confirm the safety of CP in the human body.
Metallocene was supported on the silica, which was functionalized with aminosilanes such as aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (1NS) or N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine (2NS), and ionic liquids such as 1-butyl-4-methylpyridinium chloride (Cl), tributylmethylammonium chloride (Amm), benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride (Ben), 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium chloride (Pyr), and then ethylene polymerizations were performed. The Zr contents of $SiO_2/1NS/IL/(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ and $SiO_2/2NS/IL/(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ were lower than those of only aminosilane-treated silicas. However, the polymerization activity of $SiO_2/1NS/IL/(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ was higher than that of $SiO_2/1NS/(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$. The polymerization activity of $SiO_2/2NS/IL/(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ was lower than that of $SiO_2/2NS/(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ due to much lower Zr content.
Microstructure and characteristics of the SiCp/Al-4.5wt%Cu-1wt%Mg composites fabricated by the combination of the compocasting and the pressurized continuous casting process, which is one of the processes to decrease the limitations of the size, and shops of the products, are investigated. The main results are as follows: 1) the SiCp/Al alloy matrix composites can be made continuously 2) as the amount of SiCp addition increases; (1) the degree of directional solidification of matrix structure decreases, and that of SiCp dispersion improves, (2) wear resistance improves, and especially these composites show the excellent wear resistance under the high sliding speed and high final load condition, (3) wear mechanism of these composites is changed from adhesive wear into abrasive wear, and the tendency of that becomes outstanding with increasing sliding speed.
Five representative virulent phages (J1, TK93, K1, PD5, and CP1) and one temperate phage (.phi.1043) of Lactobacillus casei were compared to each other by analyzing the agarose gel electrophoretic patterns of restriction enzyme-digested phage DNAs. Nucleic acids of all the tested phages were double stranded DNA. DNAs of J1, TK93, K1, and ${\phi}$ 1043 phages had a size of about 42kb, but the size of PD5 and CP1 DNAs was avout 140kb. J1, TK93, K1, PD5, CP1, and ${\phi}$ 1043 DNAs were digested to 13, 13, 11, 14, 14, and 12 fragments by EcoR1, respectively, and showed its characteristec restriction patterns. Cohesive ends were present in J1, TK93, and ${\phi}$ 1043, but were absent in K1, PD5, and CP1. Restriction maps of J1 and TK93 DNAs showed nearly complete homology and their evolutionary relationship based upon the restriction analysis was discussed.
This study was designed to investigate the effect of cranberry powder making pan bread. Cranberry powder at the level of 1 % (CP1), 3% (CP3), and 5% (CP5) was mixed with flour to make the breads. According to mixograph, the control, CP1 and CP3 except CP5 were found to bo proper between 3 and 5 min. in tenn of peak time (min). All samples for peak value were at the level of over 60% It meant that all samples were proper to make bread. By increasing the ratio of cranberry powder, pH, dough fermentation rate, volume and specific volume were decreased, and adhesiveness, springiness, cohesiveness and resilience except hardness were decreased in texture profile analysis. In crumbScan analysis, the addition of cranberry powder decreased the volume and increased crumb fineness of pan bread. In sensory evaluation, CP1 and CP3 showed good preference in aspect of flavor, taste, and overall acceptance.
It is known that animal-origin medicine could be one of effective treatment to remedy atopic dermatitis (AD) by controlling the cytokines. Cicadidae Periostracum (CP), the slough of Cryptotympana pustulata, has been frequently used for treating AD and skin affliction in traditional Korean Medicine. This study is aimed at investigating the ameliorating effects of CP on AD and its potential mechanism. The dinitrochlorobenzene sensitized mice were treated with CP for 2 weeks. The various biomarkers and the dermatitis scores presented that CP treatment can induce the visual and biological improvements of AD model. Pruritus, the most serious symptom of AD, which can cause repeated scratching behaviors and finally lead to lichenification, was reduced with CP treatment by regulating the inflammatory reactions. In addition, CP treatment diminished the number of mast cells that are known for causing inflammatory reactions. Moreover, it is proven that CP can decline secretion of interleukin-22, which means CP treatment has anti-inflammatory effects. CP treatment can correct the imbalance of helper T (Th)1 and Th2, downregulating thymic stromal lymphopoietin that leads to decrease of mRNA level of inflammatory cytokines. The crucial role of CP treatment is controlling of the Janus kinase 1/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 pathway. In addition, CP treatment has the inhibitory effects on kallikrein related peptidase (KLK) 5 and KLK7. Taken together, CP treatment can ameliorate most symptoms and problems caused by AD disease, improving the AD patients' life quality.
Cross-polarization (CP) signals were observed even from liquid samples such as neat toluene. Therefore, CP signals of liquid molecules in the presence of high surface materials do not necessarily mean the molecules are adsorbed on solid surface, especially when no signal from the tertiary observing nuclei such as carbons of the molecules is detected.

The effects of dietary lysine (Lys) at a fixed ratio to crude protein (CP) and essential amino acids (EAA) on early growth response of broilers were studied. Four diets were formulated to contain similar metabolizable energy (ME, 2,950 kcal/kg) but contained graded levels of incremental Lys (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4%) while also increasing the dietary CP and EAA (methionine, methionine+ cystine, threonine and tryptophan) to maintain a constant ratio with Lys. Each diet was fed at random to 10 replicates of 6 chicks each throughout the experimental period (1-21 d). At the lowest concentration of Lys of 1.1% (19.04% CP), body weight gain (BWG) was lowest and feed conversion ratio (FCR) was poorest. The BWG increased and FCR decreased linearly as dietary Lys increased upto 1.3% (22.5% CP). Lowest feed consumption was observed in the dietary group that contained 1.1% Lys (19.04% CP) in the diet. Increasing the concentration of Lys to 1.2% (20.77% CP), significantly increased the feed consumption. The concentrations of protein, calcium, phosphorus and cholesterol in serum were not influenced by the variation in Lys contents in the diet. The humoral immune response as measured by antibody titre in response to SRBC inoculation was significantly lower in the diets containing 1.1% Lys compared to 1.4%. It is concluded that the Lys requirement of broilers is 1.3% (22.5% CP) during 0 to 21 days of age for eliciting optimum performance when a fixed ratio of Lys to CP (1:17.31) and essential AA is maintained (1:0.47 Met; 1:0.56 Thr; 1:0.17 Try).
The regiospecific potential for the reductive dechlorination of 2-, 3-, 4-, 2, 3-, 2, 4-, and 3, 4-chlorophenols (CPs) was studied in mono- and di-CP(DCP) adapted sediment slurries(10% solids). Freshwater sediments adapted to transform 2-CP dechlorinated all tested mono- and di-CPs except 4-CP without a lag period. Adaptation to 2-CP, thus, enhanced the onset of dechlorination of 3-CP and all ortho-substituted CPs tested. Sediment adapted to transform 3-CP dechlorinated all test CPs, except 4-CP and 2, 4-DCP, without a lag period. Sediment adapted to individual DCPs (2, 3-, 2, 4-, and 3, 4-DCP_ exhibited dechlorination(no lag phase) of 2-CP, 2, 3-, 2, 4-, and 3, 4-CDP. Interestingly, meta-cleavage of 3, 4-DCP in all tested adapted sediment occurred, while para-cleavage occurred in 3, 4-DCP adapted sediment. Sediment adapted to dechlorinate ortho and meta-chlorines exhibited a preference for meta following ortho-cleavage, but not for para-cleavage, while the preference for reductive dechlorination was ortho>meta>para for mono-CPs and ortho>para>meta for DCPs in unadapted freshwater anoxic sediments.
