Gas Transport Properties of Soluble Polyimides Containing Alicyclic Dianhydride (지환족 다이안하이드라이드를 포함하는 용해성 폴리이미드의 기체투과특성)

  • In this work, soluble polyimides were synthesized and characterized from 5-(2,5-dioxotetrahydrofuryl)-3-methyl-3-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride (DOCDA) and two diamines such as 4,4'-diaminodiphenylether (ODA), 1,4-phenylenediamine (p-PDA). Their thermal properties were analyzed with differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The gas permeability coefficients (P) and ideal selectivity for $CH_4$ and $CO_2$ of the prepared polyimide membranes were measured with a time-lag apparatus. DOCDA-ODA, DOCDA-p-PDA showed good permeability and selectivity; the permeabilities of $CO_2$ was 6.10, 0.74 barrers and the selectivity of $CO_2/CH_4$ were 67.03, 46.25, respectively. Therefore, DOCDA-ODA showed good possibility as gas separation membrane.

  • 2-(1,3,3-Trimethyl-6-azabicyclo [3,2,1]-oct-6-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazoline (TAO) was polymerized at several conditions to clarify the influence of initiators, alkyl halide ($PhCH_2Br$, $PhCH_2Cl$, MeI) and sulfonate (MeOTf). The reactions were conducted at $100^{\circ}C$ for 24 h. The resultant polymer forms several kinds of structures with different combination of initiators. The sole MeOTf initiator caused chain transfer reaction to form the one-order structure for which the resultant polymer exclusively formed pendant structure, while alkyl halide and MeOTf formed two kinds of structures, pendant and main chain, which is caused by partly-proceeded double isomerization polymerization by highly reactive nucleophilic counter anion of halogen. Merrifield polymer was also utilized as an intiator and copolymerized with TAO, which produced a graft structure.

  • The ability to account for magnetic and spectra properties of complexes was investigated for the splitting of the degenerate d-orbitals and with nonaqueous solution by UV/vis-spectrophotometric method. The correlation of the magnetitude of 10Dq obtained from the spectra, the pairing energy, and the spin state of the complexes. The electrochemical behavior of complexes were investigated by the use of cyclic voltammetry in aprotic media. These reduction peak of $[(C_6H_5)3_P]_2Pd(II)(CH_3COO)_2$ and $[(C_6H_5)_3Pd]_2Pd(II)Cl_2$ were irreversible one-electron processes at peak $E_{pc1} = -1.32 V,\;E_{pc2} = -1.56 V$ and $E_{pc1} = -1.74 V,\;E_{pc2} = -1.88 V$ of these complexes vs. Ag/AgCl, but nickel complexes were not to be reducible.

  • Korea has made a plan to allocate CH 14~CH 51 (470 MHz~698 MHz) for DTV. This paper assumes that DTV operates on CH 51 (692 MHz~698 MHz) and CDMA system operates on CH 52 (698 MHz~704 MHz) in spare band. Minimum Coupling Loss (MCL) method to get protection distance and Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte Carlo Analysis Tool (SEAMCAT) to get guard band through 5 % interference probability are used. The protection distance is required to be 665.67 km at close frequency offset of 698.625 MHz between DTV transmitter and CDMA Base Station (BS) receiver. The required guard band between DTV transmitter and CDMA Mobile Station (MS) receiver is 5 MHz for the worst case of rural environment. There is no serious impact between CDMA MS transmitter and DTV receiver. The required guard band between CDMA BS transmitter and DTV receiver is 6.25 MHz for the worst case of urban environment. The analysis results may offer a reference and be helpful for considering interference between DTV and other communication systems.

  • The reaction of the heterobimetallic anion, ${(OC)_5CrMn(CO)_5^-M^+ (M^+=Na^+, PPN^+)\;with\;CH_3I$ was proven to be overall 1st order with respect to $[(OC)_5CrMn(CO)_5^-]$ This reaction mechanism may be described in terms of the consecutive reaction pathway in which Cr$(CO)_5$(THF) may be an important intermediate, leading to the corresponding products such as MeMn$(CO)_5\;and\;ICr(CO)_5^-$, accordingly. The counterion effect on this reaction was also elucidated.

  • 1,5-diketones(3) undewent cyclization to 4H-pyrano[3,2-d]pyrazoles (4a-d),4H-piperidino[3, 2-d]pyrazole (5) and pyrazolo[5,4-d]thiopyran (6) upon treatment with P/sub 2/O/sub 5/, CH/sub 3/COONH/sub 4/ and /or P/sub 2/S/sub 5/. Moreover, treatment of (4) with CH/sub 3/COONH/sub 4/ and/or P/sub 2/S/sub 5/ afforded (5) and (6). The structures of the hitherto unknown ring systems have been confirmed by analytical and spectral data.

  • Liquid Chromatographic behavior of Ni(II) in Isonitrosoethylacetoacetate Imine(IEAA-NR), Ni(IEAA-NH)(IEAA-NR)(R = H, CH_3, C-2H_5, n-C_4H_9, C_6H_5-CH_2) chelates were investigated by reversed-phase HPLC on Micropak MCH-5 column using methanol/water as mobile phase. The optimum conditions for the separation of Ni(IEAA-NH)(IEAA-NR) chelates were examined with respect to the effect of the flow rate, sample solvent, mobile phase strength and column temperature. It was fo$und that metal chelates were properly eluted in an acceptable range of capacity factor value(0{\le}logk'{\le}1). The dependence of the logarithm of capacity factor (k') on the volume fraction of water in the binary mobile phase as well as on the liquid-liquid extraction distribution ratio (Dc) in methanol-water/n-alkane extraction system showed the good linearties, and the dependence of the logarithm of capacity factor (k') on the column temperature and on the enthalpy exhibited the good linearties, and the compensation temperature ({\beta}) from the slope was 773.47{\circ}K. It was suggested that the retention of metal chelates was largely affected by the hydrophobic effect.

NEW INSIGHT ON BROWN DWARF ATMOSPHERES REVEALED BY AKARI

  • We present the latest results from the Mission Program NIRLT, the NIR spectroscopic observations of brown dwarfs using the IRC on board AKARI. The near-infrared spectra in the wavelength range between 2.5 and $5.0{\mu}m$ is especially important to study the brown dwarf atmospheres because of the presence of non-blended bands of major molecules, including $CH_4$ at $3.3{\mu}m$, $CO_2$ at $4.2{\mu}m$, CO at $4.6{\mu}m$ and $H_2O$ around $2.7{\mu}m$. Our observations were carried out in the grism-mode resulting in a spectral resolution of ~ 120. In total, 27 sources were observed and 18 good spectra were obtained. We investigate the behavior of three molecular absorption bands, CO, $CH_4$ and $CO_2$, in brown dwarf spectra relative to their spectral types. We find that the $CH_4$ band appears in the spectra of dwarfs later than L5 and CO band is seen in the spectra of all spectral types. $CO_2$ is detected in the spectra of late-L and T type dwarfs.

  • Bacillus subtilis CH3-5 was isolated from cheonggukjang prepared according to traditional methods. CH3-5 secreted at least four different fibrinolytic proteases (63, 47, 29, and 20 kDa) into the culture medium. A fibrinolytic enzyme gene, aprE2, encoding a 29kDa enzyme was cloned from the genomic DNA of CH3-5, and the DNA sequence determined. aprE2 was overexpressed in heterologous B. subtilis strains deficient in extracellular proteases using a E. coli-Bacillus shuttle vector. A 29 kDa AprE2 band was observed and AprE2 seemed to exhibit higher activities towards fibrin rather than casein.
