Dielectric Properties of $Ba_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}(Ti_{1-x}Sn_x)O_3$ ($Ba_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}(Ti_{1-x}Sn_x)O_3$계의 유전성)

  • Dielectric properties of $Ba_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}(Ti_{1-x}Sn_x)O_3$ were investigated from x=0 to 0.20, and temperature range -4$0^{\circ}C$~13$0^{\circ}C$ Density and grain size decreased with increasing Sn content due to grain growth inhibitor. Dielectric constant below the Curie temperature increased with increasing Sn content and dissipation factor dec reased. These results are due to grain size effect and internal stress. Curie temperature was shifted to lower temperature with increasing ratio of total polarizability to volume resulting from substitution of $Ba^{2+}$ ion with $Ca^{2+}$ ion $Ti^{4+}$ ion with $Sn^{4+}$ ion.

  • Barium titanate owes its great importance to the fact that its dielectric constant is about 100 times higher than that of conventional dielectric materials provided its compositional and structural purity is extremely high. The value of crystalline BaTiO3 bodies as used, for instance, in computer elements, magnetic amplifiers, memory device, ets., depend on boththe compositional and the structural purity of the BaTiO3 crystals. This purity will, in turn, depend on the purity of the raw materials used in manufacturing the BaTiO3 compound and on the particularmethods of manufacture which determine the size, homogeneity, and the structural purity of the crystals. This paper reviews the important theoretical considerations, processing techniques and applications related to sol-gel derived thin films.

  • By addition of 1~5mol% CeO$_2$to powders with composition in the BaO-Nd$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$, temperature coefficient of permittivity of sintered ceramics may be decreased from approximately-140ppm/$^{\circ}C$~-65ppm/$^{\circ}C$. Dense, fine grained ceramics were prepared with permitivity within the range of 78~92 and Q above 1000.

  • The need for lead-free piezoceramics has caused a renewal of interest in $BaTiO_3$-based systems. Recently, it was found that ceramics in the $(Ba,Ca)(Zr,Ti)O_3$ system have properties comparable to those of $Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$. However, these ceramics require rather high sintering temperatures of $1450-1550^{\circ}C$. In this work, the effect of $TiO_2$ and CuO addition on the sintering behavior, microstructure, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of $(Ba_{0.85}Ca_{0.15})(Zr_{0.1}Ti_{0.9})O_3$ (BCTZ) ceramics will be discussed. BCTZ ceramics were prepared by the mixed oxide route and 1 mol % of $TiO_2$ or CuO was added. Undoped and doped ceramics were sintered at $1350^{\circ}C$ for 1-5 h. CuO was found to be a very effective sintering aid, with samples sintered for 1 h at $1350^{\circ}C$ having a bulk density of 95% theoretical density; however the piezoelectric properties were greatly reduced, probably due to the small grain size.

  • The heterolayered $BaTiO_3/(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3$ thick films were fabricated by screen printing techniques on alumina substrates electrodes with Pt. We report the improved ferroelectric properties in the heterolayered teteragonal/rhombohedral structure composed of the $BaTiO_3$ and the $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3$ thick films. We investigated the effects of deposition conditions on the structural and electrical properties of the heterolayered BNT/BT thick films. The structural and electrical properties of the heterolayered BNT/BT thick films were studied. All PZT heterolayered thin films show dense and homogeneous structure without the presence of the rosette structure. The dielectric constant, loss and remanent polarization oft heheterolayered BNT/BT thick films were superior to those of single composition $BaTiO_3$ and $(Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2})TiO_3$, and those values for the heterolayered BNT/BT thick films sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ were 916, 0.79 and $12.63{\mu}C/cm^2$.

  • In this study, the phase transition behaviors of lead-free (Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3)(1-x)-(BaTiO3)x (NBT-BT) are investigated by using Brillouin spectroscopy. The elastic properties, sound velocity and absorption coefficient of NBT-BT are characterized as a function of temperature along different crystallographic axes. The temperature dependences of the elastic constants of NBT-BT near the morphotropic phase boundary are determined for the first time. The unpoled NBT-BT single crystals exhibits the typical relaxor behaviors, presenting broad acoustic and dielectric anomalies. The application of electric field induced discontinuous changes in the elastic properties at ~110℃, which indicates field-induced phase transition occurred. The electric field also changes the dielectric constant from more relaxor-like to ferroelectric-like dielectric behavior.

Grain Shape and Grain Growth Behavior in the Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3-BaTiO3 System (Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3-BaTiO3 계에서 입자모양과 입자성장 거동)

  • The grain growth behavior of $0.95Na_{1/2}Bi_{1/2}TiO_{3}-0.05BaTiO_{3}$ (NBT-5BT) has been investigated with respect to the grain shape. The powder compacts of NBT-5BT were sintered at 1200 for various times. The corresponding equilibrium shape was a round-edged cube with flat {100}-faces. Abnormal grains were not observed in the specimens sintered for 1 to 12 h but abnormal grains appeared when sintered for 24 h. Before the formation of abnormal grains, a valley was observed in the measured grain size distribution of NBT-5BT, showing that the grain size distribution was a combination of two unimodal distributions. The present result suggests that the grain growth in NBT-5BT was governed by the growth of facet planes which would occur via 2-dimansional nucleation and growth.

  • 최근 이동통신 및 위성통신 등 마이크로웨이브를 이용하는 통신분야의 시장이 급속히 신장됨에 따라 RF(Radio Frequency) 부품의 산업적 중요성이 부각되고 있다. RF 부품은 크게 능동부품과 필터로 대표되는 수동부품으로 대별되는데, duplexer나 필터는 현재 대부분 마이크로웨이브 세라믹유전체를 사용 제조하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이들 부품들에 사용가능한 세라믹유전체를 개발하기 위한 연구의 일환으로 BaO-$Sm_2$$O_3$-$TiO_2$계 세라믹의 마이크로웨이브 유전특성과 여기에$La_2\$$O_3$를 첨가한 계인 BaO-($Sm_1$$-_X$$La_X$$)_2$$O_3$-$TiO_2$ 세라믹유전체를 제조하여 마이크로웨이브 유전특성을 살펴보았다. RF 부품에 사용되는 세라믹유전체는 높은 유전율$\varepsilon_r$높은 품질계수 (Q) 및 안정된 온도특성 $\tau_f$ 등의 조건을 충족시켜야한다. 본 연구에서는 유전체의 $\varepsilon_r$ 및 Q의 측정에 디스크형 유전체공진기와 두개의 도체평행판을 사용한 Hakki-Coleman법을 사용하였으며, $\tau_f$는 fixture를 항온조에 넣어서 측정하였다. BaO-$Sm_2O_3-TiO_2$계의 경우 소결온도 $1350^{\circ}C$까지는 $\varepsilon_r$및 Q가 증가하나 그 이상의 소결온도에서는 감소한다. 그리고 $\tau_f$$-35_{ppm}/^{\circ}C$에서 소결온도에는 거의 의존하지 않았다. $La_2O_3$를 첨가한BaO-($Sm_1$$-_X$$La_X$$)_2$$O_3$-$TiO_2$ 세라믹의 마이크로웨이브 유전특성은 $La_2O_3$의 첨가량이 많을수록 $\tau_f$값이 음에서 양으로 이동함이 관찰되었으며, x=0.15에서 $\tau_f$가 0이 되어 마이크로웨이브 부품용 마이크로웨이브 세라믹유전체를 얻을 수 있음이 확인되었다.
