A Study on the Properties of Y-Sm-Ba-Cu-O Superconductors (Y-Sm-Ba-Cu-O 초전도체의 특성 연구)

  • In this study, a new sintered specimens of Y$\_$1-x/Sm$\_$x/Ba$_2$Cu$_3$O$\_$y/ is composed by substituting Sm for a part of Y in the YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$\_$y/ high Tc superconductor, in order to study of making (Y$.$Sm)-Ba-Cu-O system sintered specimens and their characteristics. An their change affected on superconductivity and their characteristics are studied by changing the x range of the composition rate. The resistances of electrical characteristics under the conditions of the composition and the temperature are measured by using Ac four probe method in the procedure of this experiments. And it is confirmed that the Meissner effect from the superconductivity of composed Sm system exists in the range of 0

  • Thin films of YB $a_{2}$C $u_{3}$$O_{7-x}$ supercondYB $a_{2}$C $u_{3}$$O_{7-x}$uctor were prepared on (100) SrTi $O_{3}$ substrates by pulsed laser deposition using visible light laser. Q-switched Nd:YAG(532 nm, 30 ns) pulsed laser was used for deposition. The effects of substrate temperature and oxygen pressure during deposition on films were studied. Critical current density of 2.93*10$^{6}$ A/c $m^{2}$ at 77K and Tc(zero)=91.7K were obtained from the film prepared with Tsub=745.deg. C and $P_{02}$=200 mTorr. XRD analysis showed that the grown film has c-axis normal orientation to the substrate surface and has single phase. Surface morphology of the film has been improved by interfering the plume ejected from YB $a_{2}$C $u_{3}$$O_{7-x}$ target.arget.t.

  • Microwave Detector Using $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-x}$, Grain Boundary Junction $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-x}$ superconductor thin films were deposited on $LaAIO_{3}$ (100) single crystal substrates using a metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) method. These films showed the critical temperature of about 9OK and critical current density of over $10^5/A \textrm{cm}^2$at 77K. These films showed granular structure with 0.5~1.5$\mu \textrm{m}$ grains. Bridge-type junctions, 6$\mu \textrm{m}$ in width and 6pm in length, were fabricated using the photolithography and the Ar ion milling techniques. Current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of these junctions with the microwave irradiation at 77K were studied. The critical current densities decreased as the irradiated microwave power increased. When microwaves were irradiated on the bridge at 77K. the I-V charateristics showed constant voltage stcp(Shapiro steps) at $\Delta$=nho/2e.

High temperature deformation characteristics ${YBa_2}{Cu_3}{O_{7-x}}$ superconductor (${YBa_2}{Cu_3}{O_{7-x}}$초전도체의 고온변형특성)

  • In order to investigate the high temperature deformation characteristics in YBaiCu307-, oxide superconductor, the compression test was performed at temperatures from $890^{\circ}C$ to $930^{\circ}C$ at initial strain rate between $1.0 x 10^{-5}s^{-1}\; and \; 1.0^{-4}s^{-1}$. As the temperature increased and the initial strain rate decreased, the flow stress decreased. The strain rate sensitivity exponent measured as 0.41-0.46, supporting occurence of a superplastic deformation. The activation energy for superplastic deformation was calculated as 500-580KJ/mol, which decreased with increasing Ag content. Microstructure of the superplastically-deformed specimens showed that a grain growth occurred during deformation, and it appeared to be considerable when Ag content increased, but most grains still remained equiaxed after deformation. In this study, the deformation mechanism of YBCO superconductor was the grain boundary sliding with the diffusional accommodation and the contribution of the gram boundary sliding to the total strain was estimated to be 65%.

  • The eleventh-order coupled line lowpass filter(LPF) was designed to suppress harmonics and spurious signals. The microstrip type LPF was fabricated using a high-$T_{c}$ superconductor(HTS) $YBa_{2}$$Cu_{3}$$O_{7-x}$(YBCO) thin film with the $CeO_{2}$ buffer layer which was deposited on the sapphire ($Al_{2}O_{3}$) substrate of 30 x 30 $mm^{2}$. The coupled-line type LPF was designed for 1.2 GHz of cutoff frequency with 0.01 dB of ripple level at passband. The fabricated HTS LPF shows excellent attenuation characteristics in stopband of 1.2~9.5GHz (7-attenuation poles in the stopband), and shows low insertion loss (0.2 dB) and return loss (17.1 dB) in the pass- band. These measured results match well with those obtained by the EM simulation. This clearly demonstrates that the HTS LPF can suppress harmonics and spurious signals effectively.

  • We designed superconducting four-element patch array antenna which has single-feed circularly polarization and a resonance frequency of 11.85 GHz for DBS receiving system. Antennas have been fabricated from both gold conductor and $YBa_{2}$$Cu_{3}$$O_{7-x}$(YBCO) superconductor (thin films) for comparison. Simulated and measured results, and analysis on resonant frequency(fr), return loss, and bandwidth are presented.

  • Large and single-grain Y-Ba-Cu-O(YBCO) bulk superconductors have been fabricated by using a seeded infiltration and growth method. $Y_2BaCuO_5$(Y211) precursor pellets and $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$(Y123) liquid source pellets were prepared using commercial powder and were processed by infiltration and growth method to achieve low pore and high trapped field property. The superconductor properties of the single crystal are measured and analyzed in relation with the density and size of the Y211 particle in the Y123 matrix. An optimum processing condition is suggested based on the analyzed results.

Microstructure and Properties of High Tc Superconductor fabricated by Hot Isostatic Pressing (열간정수압소결(HIP) 시킨 고온초전도체의 조직과 특성)

  • $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ oxide superconductors were fabricated by the hot isostatic pressing (HIP). It was shown that their structures were orthorombic and constited of a single (123) phase. While as-sintered compacts had many pores, they were remarkably reduced by Hiping. The on-set and off set temperature of (123) compound sintered at $950^{\circ}C$ in oxygen and hiping at $880^{\circ}C$ were the highest and it showed 0 resistance at $90^{\circ}K$. The critical current density ($J_c$) of the above superconductor was $27A/cm^2$ and it also showed a number of twin structures, which are typical of high $T_c$ superconductor. It seemed that the low current density may be due to the many pores of starting-sintered compacts.

  • High $T_c$, superconductor $(Y_{1-x}Eu_x)Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0) were prepared and the physical properties were observed. XRD analysis showed that the structures of all the specimen were orthorhombic and the lattice parameters a, b and c increased with the increasing x value. Electrical resistivity and magnetization measurements revealed that pure high $T_c$, superconducting phases were formed at above 90 K. The critical temperatures increased with increasing the amount of Eu. From the measurement of magnetization and the size of the grains using SEM micrographs, volume diamagnetic susceptibilities for each specimen were calculated. These values decreased with the increasing x value. The composition of Ba in the lattice site decreased as the concentration of Eu increased, and this was confirmed by EPMA. It was found out that the volume diamagnetic susceptibility of each specimen was directly influenced by the composition of Ba in the lattice site.
