The GaAs semiconductor whispering gallery modes, produced in the peripheral Rayleigh band region of W/sub Rayleigh/ = (${\Phi}$/2)( 1-n/sub eff/n), exhibit novel properties of ultralow thresholds open to nano-ampere regime associated with photonic quantum ring (PQR) production (Fig 1 (a)). The PQR phenomena are associated with a photonic field-driven phase transition of quantum well(QW)-to-quantum wire (QWR) and hence the photonic (non-de Broglie) quantum corral effects, on the Rayleigh cavity confined carriers in dynamic steady state, occur as schematically shown in Fig 1. This paper presents mechanical analysis of gas turbine generator (113MVA, $3{\phi}$, 2P, 0.9PF, F class, 3600rpm, 60Hz, 13.8kV, 4.72kA, Air-Cooling) field coil deformation. Rotor end coil deformation is only appeared on turbine end but collector end coil is normal. Expansion direction of end coil is tangential not axial. Deformation appears more severe at top turn. Retaining ling is expanded by centrifugal force of coil and itself. In case friction coefficient between coil top surface and retaining ring insulation inner surface is small, coil end length ${\ell}$ does not change. However, in case friction coefficient big condition, coil end is expanded ${\Delta}{\ell}$ due to start and stop. Deformation is assumed about 30mm by watching photograph inner surface of retaining ring is coated by Teflon at manufacturing condition. Usually Teflon coating insulation surface is small friction coefficient. It's value 0.08${\sim}$0.15. However it's value exceeds more than 0.297. Since top turn deformation appears. The distortion and subsequent failure have occurred because of the lack of a sufficient slip-plane between the top field coil conductors and the inside surface of the retaining ring insulation on the turbine end of the field-winding.
Correction factors based on the catch ratios of egg and larval densities in the southern waters of Korea were estimated for anchovy Engraulis japonica. This was undertaken in order to adjust ichthyoplankton data from different sampling methods, gear types and time. Samples were collected during ichthyop1ankton surveys in Korean waters from 1983 to 1994. The ratios for egg densities obtained in vertical tows with a NORPAC net (ring $\Phi$, 45 cm) compared to those obtained in oblique tows with a KOB net (ring $\Phi$, 80 cm) were 0.86 (CV = 0.65), 1.22 (CV = 0.36), and 0.93 (CV = 0.42) for early, middle, and later developmental stages, respectively. The ratios for larval densities for vertical and oblique tows varied depending on size. For yolk-sac and small larvae (< 4 mm), the ratios were 3.08 (CV = 0.45) and 1.98 (CV = 1.34), while those of 4-6 mm, 6-8 mm, and 8-10 mm larvae were 0.44 (CV = 1.31), 0.45 (CV = 1.70), and 0.56 (CV = 2.50), respectively. Ratios of day/night densities for larvae of 4-10 mm lengths were lower (0.01-0.06) in offshore catches than values obtained in coastal areas (0.440.46) and similar values (0.16-0.04) for vertical and oblique tows. Our results indicated that vertical towing is more efficient for sampling early life stages (from eggs to larvae less than 4 mm long), while oblique towing is more efficient for larvae longer than 4 mm due to depth preferences for each developmental stage (e.g., changes in egg buoyancy and vertical migration oflarvae).

This study was fulfilled to verify the durations of cambial activity and analyze the associations of degree days and precipitation with the initiation of cambial activity and intra-annual wood formation for Pinus koraiensis and Chamaecyparis pisifera planted at Mt. Worak, respectively, by monitoring of their intra-annual cambial activities. And more, the reason was also analyzed why the DBH of Chamaecyparis pisifera known as planted in the same year could be classified as two groups (CPL: ${\phi}30cm$, CPS: ${\phi}15cm$). The intra-annual cambial activity was monitored using mini-cores (${\phi}2mm$) and they were collected in 2-week interval between April and October. However, between April and May and between middle September and October expected as the initiation and cessation of the cambial activity, respectively, it was fulfilled in 1-week interval. The average number of tree rings for PK (30) was less than CPS (37) and CPL (38), whereas the average ring width of PK (4.12 mm) was wider than CPS (1.84 mm) and CPL (3.97 mm). In the comparison of ring widths between CPL and CPS, CPL was 2.13 mm wider than CPS, however, excepting CPS 1 (0.83 mm), the average ring widths of CPS 2 (2.42 mm) and CPS 3 (2.73 mm) in the last 3 years were close to the average of CPL (2.71 mm). The initiation of cambial activity for PK was between 1 and 21 April, which was 1 week earlier than CPL and CPS (excepting CPS 1) and the cessation was between 1 and 22 September. The longest growing season therefore was 157.3 days (${\pm}3.3$) and it was longer than CPL ($145.7{\pm}6.6days$) and CPS ($148.0{\pm}15.1days$). In CP groups there were wide variations for the cessation of cambial activity and also there were the meaningful linear relationship between the growing seasons and the ring widths (r = 0.69, p < 0.064). The cambial activity in PK was initiated when degree days were between 99 and 134 and in CPS (excepting PCS 1) and CPL between 134 and 200. Excepting CPS 3, the false ring was observed in all samples collected on 21 July when drought stress was high due to low precipitation from June to the beginning of July.
This study aimed at more precisely estimating the age of big old trees using dendrochronological method. Gesan-gun in Chungbuk (CBGS), Gurye-gun in Jeonnam (JNGR) and Uljin-gun in Gyeongbuk (GBUJ) were study areas and Zelkova serrata (ZS) and Pinus densiflora (PD) selected as protected trees therein were used as experimental tree species. The increment cores were extracted from 12, 8, and 6 ZSs and 10, 3, and 9 PDs in CBGS, JNGR, and GBUJ, respectively, using an increment borer (${\phi}5.2mm$). In order to clearly distinguish tree-ring boundary, the surface in the transverse section was cut for ZS using a sliding microtome and sanded for PD using a sand paper. Ring widths were measured in the resolution of 0.01 mm. Based on the measurement values, 203-year long (1813-2015) ZS local master tree-ring chronologies were successfully established and 175-year long (1841-2015) ZS local master tree-ring chronology for JNGR was also successfully established. In the case of PD, 154-, 175-, and 250-year long local master tree-ring chronologies for CBGS, JNGR, and GBUJ were successfully established, respectively. In the comparisons between local master tree-ring chronologies, they showed low t-values and Glks. According to the comparisons of the local master tree-ring chronologies with 50-year (1950~2000) average temperature and precipitation distribution maps, the annual variations of local master tree-ring chronologies seem to be determined by not temperature but precipitation. For such cross-dating therefore more local master tree-ring chronologies have to be established at the least based on the distribution map for precipitation.
Compared to 31-mode rings, 33-mode rings are highly utilized as wide bandwidth underwater acoustic transducers because the electro-mechanical coupling and piezoelectric constant d are high. On the other hand, the 31-mode ring is an axial symmetry structure, so it is possible to model it as a simple two-dimensional asymmetrical model for numerical analysis, but the 33-mode ring requires a three-dimensional numerical analysis. That is, a lot of computing resources and computation time are required. In this study, the effective material properties of an equivalent 31-mode ring were derived to simulate the electro-mechano-acoustical responses of the 33-mode ring transducer. Using the effective material properties derived from this study, a numerical analysis of rings in vacuum, air backed rings in water, and FFR (Free Flooded Ring) transducers were performed to compare the responses of 33-mode rings.
A nickel(Ⅱ) complex, Ni(IAA-NBz) (IAA-NBz') with ligand, N-benzylisonitrosoacetyl acetone imine (H-IAA-NBz) has been synthesized. This complex is very stable at room temperature and has cis-form and trans-form isomers. The ratio of nickel (Ⅱ) ion and ligand combined is 1 : 2. The elemental analysis, ir, nmr. electronic spectra and mass spectra have been studied. It is suggested from these studies that the isonitroso group of one ligand, H-IAA-NBz coordinates to nickel(Ⅱ)ion through the nitrogen atom to form five-membered ring, while that of the other ligand, H-IAA-NBz coordinates to nickel (Ⅱ) ion through the oxygen atom to form six-membered ring in square-planar complex.
We examined the inhibitory activity of (1,3-dioxolan-2-yl and 1,3-dioxan-2-yl)methylaminium derivatives(A; 1-8) against acetylcholinesterase. Derivatives of six-membered 1,3-dioxane exhibited more potent inhibitory effect than corresponding 5-membered 1,3-dioxolanes. The presence of methyl group at C4 position of dioxane ring was effective to increase the inhibitory potency of heterocyclic analogues. The activity of N-phenacyl-aminiums was greater than that of N,N,N-trimethyl-aminiums. In general, the terminal methyl group on 1,3-dioxane ring and the phenacyl group in ammonium compound A were assumed to be important factors to enhance the inhibitory action.

The photochemical and photophysical properties of N-(2-haloarylmethyl)pyridinium, N-(arylmethyl)-2-halopyridinium, N-(2-haloarylmethyl)-2-halopyridinium salts and N-(2-halobenzyl)-isoquinolinium salt are studied. The pyridinium salts photocyclize to afford isoindolium salts, while the isoquinolium salts do not. In the photocyclization of N-(2-chlorobenzyl)-2-chloropyridinium salts, pyrido[2,1-a]-4-chloroisoindolium salt is formed by the cleavage of chlorine of pyridinium ring. This indicates that the excited moiety is not the phenyl ring, but the pyridinium ring. The triplet states of the pyridinium salts are believed to be largely involved in the photocyclization, since oxygen retards most of the reaction. Some assistance of a ${\pi}$-complex between the excited chlorine moiety of the salt and phenyl plane of the same molecule is required to explain the reactivity of the salts. N-(Benzyl)-2-chloropyridinium salt is two times more reactive than N-(2-chlorobenzyl)pyridinium salt. N-(Benzyl)-2-chloropyridinium salt can form ${\pi}-complex$ effectively because of the electron-rich phenyl group. The ${\pi}$-complex affords an intermediate, phenyl radical by cleaving the chlorine atom. The photocyclized product, isoindolium salt is obtained by losing the hydrogen atom from the phenyl radical. The reactive pyridinium salts 1a, 2a and 3a have a low fluorescence quantum yield (${\Phi}F$ < 0.01) and a higher triplet energy (ET > 68 kcal/mole) than the unreactive quinolinium salt. The unreactivity of isoquinolinium salt can be understood in relation to its high fluorescence quantum yield and its low triplet energy $(E_T = 61 kcal/mole).$.
A novel fluorescent dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine (dppz) derivative, 7-(4-methoxybenzoylamino) dppz (1), was synthesized by amide connection to position 7 of the dppz ring. Its fluorescence quantum yield ($\Phi$ = 0.21 in dichloromethane) was as high as that of the conventional 7-amino-dppz (3), and its fluorescence lifetime was much shorter than that of 3.
