Enhancement of Photocurrent Generation of Solid State Dye Sensitized Solar Cells by Using MgO-coated TiO2 Photoelectrode

  • 염료감응형 태양전지 (DSSC)는 다양한 태양전지 중, 가장 환경친화적이고, 생산단가도 낮을 뿐만 아니라 다양한 색상과 투광성을 확보할 수 있어 많은 연구가 진행되어왔다. 하지만 액체 전해질을 사용하는 기존 염료감응형 태양전지는 높은 휘발성과 열 팽창 수축에 따른 전해질 누액의 문제점으로 인하여 최근에는 고체전해질을 이용한 염료감응형 태양전지의 개발이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 스크린 프린팅법을 이용하여 TiO2 광전극을 코팅하고 Mg(OH)2를 솔-젤법을 이용하여 스핀 코팅 하였다. 이후에 $500^{\circ}C$에서 1시간동안 열처리를 통해 MgO 나노 코팅막을 형성하여 고체 박막 태양전지(solid state dye sensitized solar cells)을 제작하였다. MgO 나노 코팅막의 특성은 솔라시뮬레이터를 이용하여 I-V 곡선, transient Voc, dark current를 측정하였고, UV0vis spectroscopy를 이용하여 염료흡착량을 분석하여 코팅막과 효율간의 상관관계를 평가하였다.

Emission Characteristics of Dual Emission Tandem OLED with Charge Generation Layer MoOx and Cathode Al Thickness (전하생성층 MoOx와 음극 Al의 두께에 따른 양면발광 적층 OLED의 발광 특성)

  • To study emission characteristics for dual-emission tandem organic light emitting display (OLED), we fabricated blue fluorescent OLED according to thickness variation of $MoO_x$ as charge generation layer and Al as cathode. The bottom emission characteristics of OLED with $MoO_x$ 2, 3, 5 nm thickness showed threshold voltage of 9, 7, 9 V, maximum current emission efficiency of 19.32, 23.18, 15.44 cd/A and luminance of $1,000cd/m^2$ at applied voltage of 17.6, 13.2, 16.5 V, respectively. The top emission characteristics of OLED with $MoO_x$ 2, 3, 5 nm thickness indicated threshold voltage of 13, 10, 13 V, maximum current emission efficiency of 0.17, 0.23, 0.16 cd/A and luminance of $50cd/m^2$ at applied voltage of 22.6, 16.5, 20.1 V, respectively. In case of thicker or thinner than $MoO_x$ of 3 nm, the emission characteristics were decreased because of mismatching of electron and hole in emission layer. The bottom emission characteristics of OLED with Al 15, 20, 25 nm thickness showed threshold voltage of 8, 8, 7 V, maximum current emission efficiency of 18.42, 22.98, 23.18 cd/A and luminance of $1000cd/m^2$ at applied voltage of 16.2, 13.9, 13.2 V, respectively. The reduction of threshold voltage and increase of maximum current emission efficiency are caused by the increase of current injection according to increase of Al cathode thickness. The top emission characteristics of OLED with Al 15, 20, 25 nm thickness indicated threshold voltage of 7, 7, 8 V, maximum emission luminance of 371, 211, $170cd/m^2$, respectively. The top emission OLED of Al cathode with 15 nm thickness showed maximum luminance and it decreased at thickness of 20 nm. These phenomena are caused by the decrease of intensity of emitted light by reduction of optical transmittance according to increase of Al cathode thickness.

Recurrent Neural Network based Prediction System of Agricultural Photovoltaic Power Generation (영농형 태양광 발전소에서 순환신경망 기반 발전량 예측 시스템)

  • In this paper, we discuss the design and implementation of predictive and diagnostic models for realizing intelligent predictive models by collecting and storing the power output of agricultural photovoltaic power generation systems. Our model predicts the amount of photovoltaic power generation using RNN, LSTM, and GRU models, which are recurrent neural network techniques specialized for time series data, and compares and analyzes each model with different hyperparameters, and evaluates the performance. As a result, the MSE and RMSE indicators of all three models were very close to 0, and the R2 indicator showed performance close to 1. Through this, it can be seen that the proposed prediction model is a suitable model for predicting the amount of photovoltaic power generation, and using this prediction, it was shown that it can be utilized as an intelligent and efficient O&M function in an agricultural photovoltaic system.

Cross-generational Change of /o/ and /u/ in Seoul Korean I: Proximity in Vowel Space

  • This study examined cross-generational changes in the vowel system of Seoul Korean. Acoustic analyses of the vowel formants of /o/ and /u/, and their Euclidean distances in the vowel space were undertaken to explore an on-going merger of these two vowels as proposed in previous acoustic studies and a phonological analysis by Chae (1999). A robust cross-generational change of /o/ and /u/ was found, more evident for female speakers than for male speakers. For female speakers, with each successive generation, /o/ became increasingly approximated with /u/, regardless of the syllable positions that the target vowels were posited, whereas the cross-generational differences in the Euclidean distances were only shown in the second syllable position for the male speakers. These results demonstrate that 1) women are more advanced than men in the on-going approximation of /o/ and /u/; 2) the approximation of /o/ and /u/ is common in the non-initial position. Taken together, the merger of /o/ and /u/ appears to be in progress in Seoul Korean.

Crystal growth and dielectric properties of $La_{1/3}MO_3$ (M=Nb, Ta) by infrared floating zone method (적외선 용융대역법에 의한 $La_{1/3}MO_3$ (M=Nb, Ta) 단결정 성장 및 유전 특성)

  • $La_{1/3}NbO_3$ and $La_{1/3}TaO_3$ large single crystal was prepared by the infrared floating zone method and their crystal structure and dielectric properties were investigated from the viewpoint of A - site vacancy. In $La_{1/3}TaO_3$ crystal, the crystal symmetry and approximate lattice constants was tetragonal and a $\approx$ 0.397, b $\approx$ 0.397 and c $\approx$ 0.775 from the nonextinction and the reciprocal lattice point length seen on Weissenberg and Precession photographs. The jump of some $2/3La^{3+}$ ions leads to increase the moving paths due to the generation of new vacancies at middle empty sites and thus this result is confirmed to provoke the dielectric anomaly.

The increased GUS gene inactivation over generation in Arabidopsis transgenic lines (애기장대 형질전환 식물체의 세대경과에 따른 GUS유전자의 비활성화에 관한 연구)

  • The effect of transgene inactivation in T2, T3 and F2 generations was analyzed in progeny seedlings which had been generated by Agrobacterium (LBA4404/pBI121)-mediated transformation in Arabidopsis thaliana. In a system which investigated in the expression of $\beta$-glucuronidase(GUS)gene in kanamycin-resistant (ke $n^{R}$)seedlings, GUS inactivated seedlings were observed in 5 of 12 tested lines of T2 generation and the frequency of GUS inactivation was approximately 2.3%. Lines with multi-copies of T-DNA exhibited severe GUS gene inactivation with the frequency of 5.8% in T2 generation. In T3 generation lines exhibited GUS gene inactivation with the frequency of 1.3%. In contrast, inactivation increased dramatically up to 12.6% in multi-copy T-DNA line. A similar phenomenon was also found in F2 progeny from a transgenic line which had been crossed with wild-type Arabidopsis plant, WS-O (GUS gene inactivation frequency 9.9%). These results indicate that the foreign gene introduced into the plant was inactivated progressively in its transmission during subsequent generations and the transgenic line with multi-copies of T-DNA tended to show more increased inactivation.

Synthesis and Characterization of ZnS and ZnS/TiO2 Nanocomposites and Their Enhanced Photo-decolorization of MB and 1,5-Diphenyl Carbazide

  • ZnS and $ZnS/TiO_2$ were prepared by chemical deposition. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The generation of reactive oxygen species was detected by monitoring the oxidation reaction from 1,5-diphenyl carbazide (DPCI) to 1,5-diphenyl carbazone (DPCO). Excellent catalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) solution was observed using the $ZnS/TiO_2$ composites during irradiation with visible light. The results show that the photocatalytic performance of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles is improved by loading with ZnS.

Fabrication of Metal-biochar Composite through CO2 Assisted Co-pyrolysis of Chlorella and Red Mud and Its Application for Persulfate Activation (녹조류와 적니의 이산화탄소환경 공동열분해를 통한 탄소-철 복합체 생성 및 과황산염 활성화를 통한 수중 염료 제거)

  • The common algae and industrial waste, chlorella and red mud, were co-pyrolyzed in carbon dioxide condition to fabricate iron-biochar composite. In order to investigate the direct effect of chlorella and red mud in the syngas generation and the property of biochar, experiments were performed using mixture samples of chlorella and red mud. The evolution of flammable gasses (H2, CH4, CO) was monitored during pyrolysis. The produced biochar composite was employed as a catalyst for persulfate activation for methylene blue removal. BET analysis indicated that the iron-biochar composite mainly possessed meso- and macropores. The XRD analysis revealed that hematite (Fe2O3) contained in red mud was transformed to Fe3O4 during co-pyrolysis. The composite effectively activated persulfate and removed methylene blue. Among the composite samples, the composite fabricated from the mixture composed of 1:2 chlorella:red mud showed the best performance in syngas generation and methylene blue removal.

Decomposition of Ethylene using a Hybrid Catalyst-packed Bed Plasma Reactor System (플라즈마 충진 촉매 시스템을 이용한 에틸렌 저감 연구)

  • A series of experiments using atmospheric-pressure non-thermal plasma coupled with transition metal catalysts were performed to remove ethylene from agricultural storage facilities. The non-thermal plasma was created by dielectric barrier discharge, which was in direct contact with the catalyst pellets. The transition metals such as Ag and $V_2O_5$ were supported on ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$. The effect of catalyst type, specific input energy (SIE) and oxygen content on the removal of ethylene was examined to understand the behavior of the hybrid plasma-catalytic reactor system. With the other parameters kept constant, the plasma-catalytic activity for the removal of ethylene was in order of $V_2O_5/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ > $Ag/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ > ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ from high to low. Interestingly, the rate of plasma-catalytic ozone generation was in order of $V_2O_5/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ > ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ > $Ag/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$, implying that the catalyst activation mechanisms by plasma are different for different catalysts. The results obtained by varying the oxygen content indicated that nitrogen-derived reactive species dominated the removal of ethylene under oxygen-lean condition, while ozone and oxygen atoms were mainly involved in the removal under oxygen-rich condition. When the plasma was coupled with $V_2O_5/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$, nearly complete removal of ethylene was achieved at oxygen contents higher than 5% by volume (inlet ethylene: 250 ppm; gas flow rate: $1.0Lmin^{-1}$; SIE: ${\sim}355JL^{-1}$).

The Deodorization and Antibacterial Activities of PLA Films Embedded with TiO2 Nanoparticles (TiO2 나노입자를 함유한 PLA 필름의 탈취성과 항균성)

  • The effects of $TiO_2$ contents and UV irradiation treatment on the surface properties of PLA films embedded with $TiO_2$ nanoparticle were investigated. Whereas UV irradiation decreased reflectance of the treated PLA films proportionally with increasing UV energy, the reflectance of PLA/$TiO_2$ films increased with increasing UV energy. The UV irradiation treatment caused PLA/$TiO_2$ blend films more polar as indicated in the generation of new carbonyl group and decrease in zeta potentials, which was more pronounced with the introduction of $TiO_2$. Upon UV irradiation, $TiO_2$ particles appeared on the film surface as observed in SEM images. The PLA/$TiO_2$ blend films showed photocatalytic properties such as photobleaching of methylene blue, deodorization of ammonia and antimicrobial activity in comparison with pure PLA films.
