  • Dense $((Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})_{1-x}Li_x)(Nb_{0.8}Ta_{0.2})O_3$ ceramics were developed by conventional sintering process. The electrical properties of $((Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})_{1-x}Li_x)(Nb_{0.8}Ta_{0.2})O_3$ ceramics were investigated as a function of Li substitution. When the sample sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 4 h with the Substitution of 2 mol% Li, electro-mechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) and piezoelectric coefficient ($d_{33}$) were found to reach the highest values of 0.42 and 210 pC/N, respectively.

  • As a candidate for lead-free piezoelectric materials, dense ($(Na_{0.47}K_{0.47}Li_{0.06})NbO_3$ (LNKN6) ceramics were developed by conventional sintering process. Sintering temperature was lowered by adding $Li_2O$ as a sintering aid. Abnormal grain growth in the LNKN6 ceramics was observed with varying $Li_2O$ content. The electrical properties of LNKN6 ceramics were investigated as a function of $Li_2O$ concentration. When the sample sintered at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 4h with the addition of 1 mol% $Li_2O$, electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) and piezoelectric coefficient ($d_{33}$) of LNKN6 ceramics were found to reach the highest values of 0.40 and 184 pC/N, respectively.

  • In this study, $0.95(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})NbO_3$-0.05Li$(Sb_{0.8}Nb_{0.2})O_3$ + $Ag_2O$ + x wt% $MnO_2$ were investigated as a function of the amount of $MnO_2$ addition in order to improve dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. With increasing the amount of $MnO_2$ addition, density and electromechanical coupling factor $(k_p)$ increased up to 0.3wt.% $MnO_2$ and decreased above 0.3wt.% $MnO_2$. At the sintering temperature of 1020 $^{\circ}C$, Electromechanical coupling factor $(k_p)$, density, dielectric constant $({\varepsilon}r)$ and mechanical quality factor $(Q_m)$ of composition ceramics with 0.4wt% $Ag_2O$ addition showed the optimal value of 0.431, 4.33 g/$cm^3$, 820 and 119, respectively.

  • In this paper, in order to develop outstanding Pb-free composition ceramics, the $Fe_2O_3$-doped ($Na_{0.525}K_{0.443}Li_{0.037}$)($Nb_{0.883}Sb_{0.08}Ta_{0.037}$)$O_3$ + 0.3 wt% $Bi_2O_3$ + x wt% $Fe_2O_3$ (x= 0~1.0 wt%)(abbreviated as NKL-NST) lead-free piezoelectric ceramics have been synthesized using the ordinary solid state reaction method. The effect of $Fe_2O_3$-doping on their microstructure and electrical properties were investigated. XRD diffraction pattern studies confirm that $Fe_2O_3$ completely diffused into the NKL-NST lattice to form a new stable soild solution with $Fe^{3+}$ entering the $Nb^{5+}$, $Sb^{5+}$ and $Ta^{5+}$ of B-site. And, phase structure of all the ceramics exhibited pure perovskite phase and no secondary phase was found in the ceramics. The ceramics doped with 0.6 wt% $Fe_2O_3$ have the optimum values of piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$), planar piezoelectric coupling coefficient($k_p$) and mechanical quality factor($Q_m$) : $d_{33}$ = 233 [pC/N], $k_p$= 0.44, $Q_m$= 95. These results indicate that the ($Na_{0.525}K_{0.443}Li_{0.037}$)($Nb_{0.883}Sb_{0.08}Ta_{0.037}$)$O_3$ +0.3 wt% $Bi_2O_3$ + 0.6 wt% $Fe_2O_3$ ceramic is a promising candidate for lead-free piezoelectric ceramics.

  • Dense $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05LiTaO_3$ (NKN-5LT) ceramics were developed by conventional sintering process. Sintering temperature was lowered by adding $Na_2CO_3$ as a sintering aid.   • In this study, $0.95(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05Li(Sb_{0.8}Nb_{0.2})O_3$ ceramics were investigated as a function of the amount of $Ag_2O$ addition in order to improve dielectric and piezoelectric properties of lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. With increasing the amount of $Ag_2O$ addition, density and electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) increased up to 0.2 wt.% $Ag_2O$ and decreased above 0.2 wt.% $Ag_2O$. At the sintering temperature of $1020^{\circ}C$, electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$), density, dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}r$) and curie temperature (Tc) of ceramics with 0.2 wt% $Ag_2O$ showed the optimal values of 0.42, $4.33\;g/cm^3$, 738 and $393^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • PZT세라믹스는 높은 압전특성과 우수한 큐리온도($400^{\circ}C$)를 보유하고 있어 오래시간에 걸쳐 주목받고 있다. 현재 압전변압기, 액츄에이터, 센서등의 압전소자는 PZT를 이용하여 제작하고 있지만 PZT는 고온 소결시 PbO의 휘발이 환경오염을 초래하며 인체의 유해하다는 연구결과가 나왔다. 이에 최근에는 PbO가 포함 되지않은 무연(lead-free)계 압전세라믹스가 주목받고 있다. 무연 압전 세라믹스의 종류로는 Bi-layer-structured ceramics, Bi-perovskite type ceramics, NKN base ceramics 가 존재하고 있다. 그 중 $(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3(NKN)$ 세라믹스는 높은 큐리온도와($400^{\circ}C$)와 높은 전기기계 결합계수(약 36%)를 보유하고 있어 많은 연구가 이루어 지고 있다. 하지만 NKN은 PZT에 비하여 치밀성이 낮으며 일반적인 산화물 소결방법으로는 밀도를 높이기가 어려운 단점이 존재한다. 이를 개선하기 위한 방법으로 hot pressing와 spak plasma sintering, RTGG와 같은 방법으로 밀도를 높일수 있지만 비용이 많이 들어 일반적으로 사용이 어렵다. 다른 방법으로 NKN에 첨가물을 넣는 방법을 사용하고 있는데 방법으로 $LiNbO_3$, $LiTiO_3$, $LiSbO_5$를 첨가하여 개선하는 방법이 있다. 본 실험은 첨가물을 넣는 방식으로 비화학양론적 $(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})_{0.97}(Nb_{0.9}Ta_{0.1})O_3(NKNT)$조성에 CuO를 mol%로 변화주어 유전 및 압전 특성을 조사하였다.

  • In this paper, in order to develop Pb-free piezoelectric ceramics, $(Li_{0.05}Na_{0.57}K_{0.38})NbO_3$ ceramic was fabricated with the variation of $Bi_2O_3$ addition. Piezoelectric properties of the ceramic were varied with the amount of $Bi_2O_3$ addition and showed the maximum kp value at.0.2 wt% $Bi_2O_3$ addition. Qm of $Bi_2O_3$ added ceramics showed lower values than the non-added ceramics, however, the kp was increased by the addition of $Bi_2O_3$ up to 0.2 wt%. At the sintering temperature of 1110$^{\circ}C$ and the calcination temperature of 850$^{\circ}C$, the optimal values of density=4.52g/$cm^3$, kp=0.47, $\varepsilon_r$=400 were obtained.

  • It was reported that a tetragonal phase can be stabilized with maintaining good piezoelectric properties when Na0.5K0.5NbO3 (KNN) is modified with 0.06 mol SrTiO3. However, such a high amount of SrTiO3 leads not only to poor sinterability but low Curie temperature (TC). To maintain high TC with good piezoelectric properties in KNN-based lead-free piezoelectric ceramics, this study investigates the effect of Li-doping on the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of 0.96Na0.5K0.5NbO3-0.04SrTiO3 (KNN-4ST) ceramics. As a result, the orthorhombic-tetragonal phase transition was observed at 2 mol% Li2CO3 modified KNN-4ST ceramics, whose TC, d33 and kp values are 328℃, 165pC/N and 0.33, respectively.

Effect of MnO2 Addition on Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of 0.985[Li0.04(Na0.545K0.46)0.96(Nb0.81Ta0.15Sb0.04)]O3 Ceramics (MnO2 첨가가 0.985[Li0.04(Na0.545K0.46)0.96(Nb0.81Ta0.15Sb0.04)]O3+0.015KNbO3 세라믹스의 유전 및 압전 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • $MnO_2$-doped $0.985[Li_{0.04}(Na_{0.545}K_{0.46})_{0.96}(Nb_{0.81}Ta_{0.15}Sb_{0.04})]O_3+0.015KNbO_3(0.985LNKNTS+0.015KNbO_3)$ lead-free ceramics were fabricated by conventional solid state method to develop excellent dielectric and piezoelectric properties. The result of X-ray diffraction patterns obviously indicated that all of the specimen has pure perovskite structure without secondary phase. In addition, orthorhombic phase and coexistance region of orthorhombic-tetragonal phase (MPB) were observed with amount of $MnO_2$. The optimal values of ${\rho}$=4.70 $g/cm^3$, $d_{33}=238$ pC/N, $k_P=0.46$, $Q_m=121$, ${\varepsilon}_r=849$, and $T_C=225^{\circ}C$ were obtained at 0.01 mol% $MnO_2$ doped $0.985LNKNTS+0.015KNbO_3$ ceramics sintered at $990^{\circ}C$ for 5 h, respectively. Hence, it was indicated that the suitable amount of $MnO_2$ could improve the electrical properties of $0.985[Li_{0.04}(Na_{0.545}K_{0.46})_{0.96}(Nb_{0.81}Ta_{0.15}Sb_{0.04})]O_3+0.015KNbO_3$ ceramics.
