The Electronic Properties of the $BT-(BaNaK)(TiNb)O_3$ System for Lead Free PTC

  • We weal know that PbO was poisonous and prone to volatilize, then to pollute the circumstance and hurt to people, so we should dope other innocuous additives instead of lead to increase Tc of composite PTC material. In order to prepare lead-free $BaTiO_3$-based PTC with middle Curie point, the incorporation on $(BaNaK)(TiNb)O_3$ into $BaTiO_3$-based ceramics was investigated on samples containing 0.05, 0.07 and 0.1mol% of $(BaNaK)(TiNb)O_3$. $(BaNaK)(TiNb)O_3$ was compounded as standby material by conventional solid-state reaction technique. The starting materials were $Na_2O_3$,$K_2CO_3$, $BaCO_3$, $TiO_2$ and $Nb_2O_5$ powder, and using solid-state reaction method, too. The microstructure of samples were investigated by SEM, DSC, XRD and dielectric properties. Phase composition and lattice parameters were investigated by X-ray diffraction. Also, we are measure the resistivity of sintered bodies with calcinations condition.

(Ba,Ca)SiO3 Glass Frit 첨가에 따른 NKN-BT 세라믹스의 유전 완화 특성 (Dielectric Relaxation Properties of KNN-BT Ceramics with (Ba,Ca)SiO3 Glass Frit)

  • We investigated dielectric relaxation properties of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics by addition (0~0.3 wt%) of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit. All composition of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ added $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit showed the same crystallographic properties, coexistence of orthorhombic and tetragonal phase. By increasing addition of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit, the Curie temperatures of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were decreased, whereas maximum dielectric constants of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were dramatically increased. Especially the deviations of Curie temperature $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were increased by increasing amount of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit, and it indicated that $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics added $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit have relaxor characteristics.

  • In this study, in order to develop the composition ceramics for lead-free ultrasonic motor, (1-x-0.09)$NaNbO_{3-x}BaTiO_3-0,09LiNbO_3$ ceramics were fabricated using a conventional mixed oxide process and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated according to the $BaTiO_3$ substitution. All the specimens showed orthorhombic phase structure without secondary phase, $BaTiO_3$ substitution enhanced density, dielectric constant(${\epsilon}_r$) and electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$), However, mechanical quality factor was deteriorated. Curie temperature of specimens was observed as about $380^{\circ}C$. At the $BaTiO_3$ substitution of 4 mol%, density, electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$), dielectric constant(${\epsilon}_r$) and piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$) of specimen showed the optimum value of $4.493g/cm^3$, 0.236, 175, 70 pC/N, respectively.

Effect of Particle Size on the Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of 0.95(K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-0.05BaTiO3 Lead-free Piezoelectric Ceramics

  • The particle sizes of 0.95(K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-0.05BaTiO3 powder were controlled by secondary milling time after calcination. The average particle sizes, Dmean, of 0.95(K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-0.05BaTiO3 powders were critically changed from 14.31 μm to 0.91 μm by secondary milling time. The dielectric and piezoelectric properties of 0.95(K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-0.05BaTiO3 ceramics depended on the particle sizes of powders after calcination and the secondary milling process. As secondary milling times after calcination were increased to more than 48 hr, the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of 0.95(K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-0.05BaTiO3 ceramics were deteriorated.

  • $Pb(Zr,Ti_O_3$계 세라믹스는 우수한 압전 특성으로 인하여 압전변압기 및 액츄에이터, 센서 등 많은 분야에 응용이 되어져 왔다. 그러나, 최근 들어 $1000^{\circ}C$에서 급속도로 많은 휘발을 하는 PbO는 환경 및 인체에 나쁜 영향을 미칠 뿐 아니라 사용 후의 처리도 어려워 선진국에서는 사용을 제한하거나 줄이고 있는 추세에 있다. 따라서, PbO를 포함하지 않은 무연 (Lead-free)계 압전 세라믹스에 대한 연구가 많은 관심을 끌고 있으며 앞으로는E 장래성 있는 하나의 이슈 분야가 될 것이다. 이러한 Pb-based System 세라믹스를 대체 할 재료로서 $(Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2})TiO_3$나 Tungsten-Bronze type, $(K_{1/2}Na_{1/2})NbO_3$ 등이 주로 연구가 되고 있다. 특히, alkali niobate를 기초로 한 $(K_{1/2}Na_{1/2})NbO_3(NKN)$은 무연 압전 물질로서 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 그러나, NKN의 주요 성분인 K 의 높은 조해성 때문에 일반적인 고상방법으로는 고 밀도의 세라믹을 얻기 힘들뿐더러 낮은 상전이 온도 때문에 많은 응용에는 제약이 되고 있다. 이러한 세라믹의 단점을 보완하고자 Hot forging, RTGG, SPS 등 과 같이 특수한 소결방법을 사용하여 고밀도의 세라믹을 제작하지만 이 방법들은 제품 대량 생산에 있어 경제적으로나 복잡한 제조과정을 고려할 때 매우 비효율적이라고 판단된다. 그러므로 $BaTiO_3$, $LiTaO_3$, Mg, Ca등을 첨가 시켜 소결을 향상시키고 고밀도를 얻기 위해 많은 연구가 진행 중이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Pb-based계의 세라믹스를 대체할 우수한 특성의 세라믹스를 제작하고자 기존의 $(K_{1/2}Na_{1/2})NbO_3(NKN)$세라믹스에서 낮은 용융온도 때문에 소결하기 어려운 $KNbO_3$를 제거한 $NaNbO_3$$LiNbO_3$$BaTiO_3$를 추가한 $NaLiNbO_3-BaTiO_3$세라믹스에 $K_4CuNb_8O_{23}$(KCN)을 첨가함으로서 이에 따른 압전 및 유전 특성을 조사하였다.

  • (1-x)(Na,K)$NbO_3$-xBa(Zr,Ti)$O_3$ lead free piezoelectric ceramics were synthesized to enhance the piezoelectric properties of (Na,K)$NbO_3$. The synthesis and sintering method were the conventional solid state reaction method and general sintering method in air atmosphere. We report the improved piezoelectric properties in the perovskite structure composed of the NKN and BZT ceramics. We investigated the effects of NKN, BZT on the structural and electrical properties of the NKN-BZT ceramics. The NKN-BZT ceramics show good performance with piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$=155pC/N. The results reveal that (1-x)(Na,K)$NbO_3$-xBa(Zr,Ti)$O_3$ ceramics are promising candidate materials for lead-free piezoelectric application.

  • 0.96$(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3$-0.04$(Ba_{(1-x)}Sr_x)TiO_3$ lead free piezoelectric ceramics were synthesized to enhance the piezoelectric properties of (Na,K)$NbO_3$. The systhesis and sintering method were the conventional solid state reaction method and general sintering method in air atmosphere. The polymorphic phase transition(PPT) was observed at all composition(0 $\leq$ x $\leq$ 0.05) when $(Ba_{(1-x)}Sr_x)TiO_3$ were added in the $(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3$. As Sr concentration was increased, grain size, dielectric loss(tan$\delta$) and mechanical quality factor($Q_m$) were decreased and piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$) and electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$) were increased within a limited value. The optimized piezoelectric and properties, $d_{33}$, $k_p$, $Q_m$, and tand, of 0.96$(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3$-0.04$(Ba_{(1-x)}Sr_x)TiO_3$ were 139 pC/N, 0.31 %, 95, 0.04 at the composition of x=0.04.

  • An anomalous positive temperature coefficient of electrical resistivity (PTCR) was investigated in a ferroelectric lead-free perovskite-type compound $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3$ within $BaTiO_3$-based solid solution ceramics. The effect of $Nb_2O_5$ content on the electrical properties and the microstructure of (1 - x) $BaTiO_3-x\;(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3$ (BNT) ceramics made using a conventional mixed oxide process also has been studied. The Curie temperature was obviously increased with the increasing of $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TIO_3$ content. The Nb - doped BNT ceramics (x=0.01) display low resistivity values of $10^{1{\circ}}C-10^{2{\circ}}C$ ohm.cm at room temperature and the Curie Temperature of $T_c=160^{\circ}C$.

광메모리 단결정의 성장과 그 특성 (Crystal Growth and their photorefractive properties for optical memo)

  • 광메모리 시스템의 실용화에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대되고 있는 가장 대표적인 포토리프렉티브 결정 7종에 대해 개관하였다. 각 결정에 대한 고균질 광학결정의 성장 조건의 문제점들을 다음의 3가지 결정성장법에 따라 논의 하였다. (1) 용액인상법에 의한 $LiNbO_3$$Bi_{12}SiO_{20}$ (2) TSSG 법에 의한 $Bi_{12}TiO_{20}$, $KNbO_3$, $BaTiO_3$, (3) 소테파노프법에 의한 $(Sr_{1-x} Ba_{x})$$Nb_2O_6$, $(K_{1-y}Na_y)_{2A-2} (Sr_{1-x}Ba_x)_{2-A}Nb_{2}O_{6}$, 또한 결정의 포토리프렉티브의 기능성에 대한 재료적 성능지수 $Q_1$, $Q_2$및 감도에 대하여 논의하였다.
