  • This research is a case study of 'One City One Book: San Francisco Reads' (Hereafter OCOB), which is an 'One Book' community reading promotion campaign, sponsored by San Francisco Public Library in California. In this research, the objective of OCOB as 'One Book' program, the characteristics of selected books, and major programs and events from 2005 to 2024 were examined. OCOB, while sharing a typical objective of 'One Book' campaign, which pursues to form a city-wide book club and promote reading and talking about 'One Book' among citizens, selected books which reflected cultural and ethnic diversities of San Francisco and its civic identity. San Franciscans reacted to the efforts of OCOB by actively participating in programs and events and borrowing the selected books. For the past 20 years, OCOB has demonstrated the continuity, consistency, self-reliance, and independence as a 'One Book' program, which pursues to better understand diversities and integrate communities, and is expected to continue as an important initiative, which is a strategic part of 'Cultural Amplifier' and 'Community Catalyzer' for 'Vision 2030' of SFPL.

  • A Shortest Path Algorithm is the method to find the most efficient route among many routes from a start node to an end node. It is based on Labeling methods. In Labeling methods, there are Label-Setting method and Label-Correcting method. Label-Setting method is known as the fastest one among One-to-One shortest path algorithms. But Benjamin[1,2] shows Label-Correcting method is faster than Label-Setting method by the experiments using large road data. Since Graph Growth algorithm which is based on Label-Correcting method is made to find One-to-All shortest path, it is not suitable to find One-to-One shortest path. In this paper, we propose a new One-to-One shortest path algorithm. We show that our algorithm is faster than Graph Growth algorithm by extensive experiments.

  • One way Functions are similar to the passwords in the sense that are easy to compute and hard to invert. So they are the most basic primitive for cryptographic applications. Especially, it is well known that it needs to exist of one way functions for the existence of the encryption schemes. In this note, we devote to study the various properties of the one way functions to give the base for the construction of the secure encryption schemes. They include the study for a sort and part of one way functions. Also, we deal with the theoretical relationship between one way function and trapdoor function.

  • In Korean traditional architecture, the Gong-po style is divided into the Jusimpo, Dapo and Ikgong. Jusimpo and Chulmok-Ikong, where only Gong-po is placed on the column, differ in form of Gong-po depending on the viewpoint. Since 'Chulmok-Ikgong' has been generally regarded as 'One Chulmok-Two Ikgong', the precedent researches have been conducted mainly on 'One Chulmok-Two Ikgong' in the Gong-po style classification. However, when it comes to 'One Chulmok', the style of Ikgong can be organized from the one to three steps and this study is particularly for examining the occurrence and transformation of 'One Chulmok-One Ikgong'. One of the case study sites, Bonghwa Cheongamjeong was originally built in the 16th century, and is believed to have been repaired from 'Non Chulmok-One Ikgong' to 'One Chulmok-One Ikgong'. Since the beam linked directly to the upper part of a capital, it does not connect the eave trave(architrave) in between. Also, Soro which supports Jangyeo(the architrave strip) has been placed and linked in comparatively lower position. It is confirmed by the signigicant difference in the hierarchy of Gong-po forms in one architecture. The Jeonju-Hyanggyo Daeseongjeon, which was built in the 17th century among the subjects, was similar with 'One Chulmok-One Ikgong', but it was found to be the type of Jusimpo form because the bottom of the beam and the top of the Ikong are apart. And Gongan is confirmed at Cheomcha. In the 17th century, it can be seen that Heot-Cheomcha disappeared and Ikgong was started to use as a constant figure. The end of the 18th century, it can be seen that it was changed into a ornament added on Haeng-gong, being seen in the case of Hwaseong Dongjangdae. In conclusion, it can be seen that 'One Chulmok-One Ikgong' were developed in both the Jusimpo and Ikong style. The transformation into 'One Chulmok-One Ikgong' was inevitable consequence related with an elevation difference between the eave trave and the column trave.

  • Recently, one-person households have surpassed nuclear families. One-person households are expected to have many problems with health due to an irregular life style and a tendency to be more isolated from society. In addition, we need to divide the generations and survey each generation due to differences in one-person household factors and characteristics as well as the unique physical conditions of each generation. Therefore, based on the sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, this survey examined health behavior differences between one-person households and non-one-person households according to generation (respectively) as well as studied how one-person households and health behavior influence subjective health conditions. The major result of this survey is as follows. First, one-person households reveal a higher rate in the negative health behavior than non-one-person households. Second, the physical activity of all households reveals a high rate of non-activity. Third, health scores of one-person households are lower than that of non-one-person households; consequently, the analysis of health scores for one-person households and non-one-person households indicated that the middle age health scores for one-person households have been lowest in generations. Fourth, the factors that influence subjective health conditions indicated that one-person household and health behavior has meaningful influence; in addition, the subjective health condition of one-person households are lower than non-one-person households under controlled health behavior.

  • The cantilever beam with nonlinearity has many dynamic characteristics of nonlinear vibration. Nonlinear terms of a flexible cantilever beam include inertia, spring, damping, and warping. When the beam is given basic harmonic excitation, it shows planar and nonplanar vibrations due to one-to-one resonance. And when the one-to-one resonance occurs, the flexible beam shows different behaviors in those vibrations. For the one-to-one resonance occurring in each mode, the phase value of the planar vibration is different from that of the nonlinear vibration. This paper investigates the phase change and the phase difference between such planar and nonplanar vibrations which are caused by one-to-one resonance.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of glide path preparation with PathFile and ProGlider nickel-titanium (NiTi) files on the cyclic fatigue resistance of WaveOne NiTi files. Materials and Methods: Forty-four WaveOne Primary files were used and divided into four groups (n = 11). In the first group (0 WaveOne), the WaveOne Primary files served as a control group and were not used on acrylic blocks. In the 1 WaveOne Group, acrylic blocks were prepared using only WaveOne Primary files, and in the PF+WaveOne group and PG+WaveOne groups, acrylic blocks were first prepared with PathFile or ProGlider NiTi files, respectively, followed by the use of WaveOne Primary files. All the WaveOne Primary files were then subjected to cyclic fatigue testing. The number of cycles to failure was calculated and the data were statistically analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the Tukey honest significant difference multiple-comparison test at a 5% significance level. Results: The highest number of cycles to failure was found in the control group, and the lowest numbers were found in the 1 WaveOne group and the PF+WaveOne group. Significant differences were found among the 1 WaveOne, PF+WaveOne, and control groups (p < 0.05). No statistically significant differences were found between the PG+WaveOne group and the other three groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Glide path preparation with NiTi rotary files did not affect the cyclic fatigue resistance of WaveOne Primary files used on acrylic blocks.

  • Wide-spread practitioner literature exists for the one-to-one marketing effect from a firm's perspective; however, limited research discusses the psychological effect of one-to-one marketing from a consumer's perspective. The authors test a model that integrates the level of consumer-perceived one-to-one marketing effort (OTO-E), instrumental (i.e., perceived usefulness) and affective benefits (Le., pleasure and arousal), and attitude toward the e-store (ATE). The analysis of an online survey (conducted with 195 U.S. undergraduates) confirms the positive effect of level of OTO-E on the benefits that influence ATE. In addition, it reveals the positive effect of the affective benefits on the instrumental benefit. The results expand the current research on the value of one-to-one marketing by presenting a consumer-oriented approach. As the study was conducted in the U.S. market with intense consumer demands for individuation of service, the results should provide useful managerial/ theoretical implications to Korean apparel e-tailers, concerning their future implementation of one-to-one marketing.
