In this paper, the problem of interfacial stresses in damaged reinforced concrete beams strengthened with bonded prestressed functionally graded material plate and subjected to a uniformly distributed load, arbitrarily positioned single point load, or two symmetric point loads is developed using linear elastic theory. The adopted model takes into account the adherend shear deformations by assuming a linear shear stress through the depth of the damaged RC beam. This solution is intended for application to beams made of all kinds of materials bonded with a thin FGM plate. The results show that there exists a high concentration of both shear and normal stress at the ends of the functionally graded material plate, which might result in premature failure of the strengthening scheme at these locations. Finally, numerical comparisons between the existing solutions and the present new solution enable a clear appreciation of the effects of various parameters of the beams on the distributions of the interfacial stresses.

Magnesium and its alloys are attracted towards all engineering applications like automotive, marine, aerospace etc. due to its inherent high strength to weight ratio. But, extensive use of Mg alloys is limited to the current scenario because of low wear and corrosion resistance behavior. However, equal channel angular press is one of the severe plastic deformation technique which has been effective method to improve the wear and corrosion resistance by achieving fine grain structure. In this study, the effect of grain refinement on wear and corrosion resistance of AZ80 Mg alloys were investigated. The wear behavior of the coarse and fine-grained Mg alloys was examined through $L_9$ orthogonal array experiments in order to comprehend the wear behavior under varies control parameters. It was shown that ECAPed alloy increased the wear and corrosion resistance of the Mg alloy through the formation of fine grain and uniform distribution of secondary ${\beta}-phase$. Also, the performance of AZ80 Mg alloy for these changeswas discussed through SEM morphology.

In this paper, static and vibration analysis for anti-symmetric cross-ply and angle- ply carbon/glass hybrid laminates rectangular composite plate are presented. In this analysis, the equations of motion for simply supported thick laminated hybrid rectangular plates are derived and obtained through the use of Hamilton's principle. The closed-form solutions of anti-symmetric cross-ply and angle- ply laminates are obtained using Navier solution. The effects of side-to-thickness ratio, aspect ratio, and lamination schemes on the fundamental frequencies loads are investigated. The study concludes that shear deformation laminate theories accurately predict the behavior of composite laminates, whereas the classical laminate theory over predicts natural frequencies. The excellent accuracy of the present analytical solution is confirmed by making some comparisons of the present results with those available in the literature. It can be concluded that the proposed theory is accurate and simple in solving the free vibration behaviors of anti-symmetric cross-ply and angle- ply hybrid laminated composite plates.

The present paper is a contribution in characterising end milling process of AISI 52100 ball bearing steel through statistical analyses of variance (ANOVA). The latter has been performed to identify the effect of the cutting parameters on the machined surface roughness and the cutting tool life. Wear measurements have been carried on multilayer coated carbide inserts and the respective surface roughness has been recorded. Taguchi's technique has been adapted to conduct the design experiments in terms of orthogonal arrays according to the cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut), the type of coating (TiN, TiCN, TiAlN) and lubricating condition. Regression analyses have conducted to the development of simplified empirical models that can be effectively used to predict surface roughness and tool wear in the present milling process.

Following our previous work, we have conducted further systematic studies to investigate the effects of reactive blending on the thermal and mechanical properties of blends of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and a liquid rubber, polybutadiene (LPB). The toughened PLAs were prepared by melt-blending the PLA with various contents (0-9 wt.%) of the LPB in the absence or presence of dicumyl peroxide (DCP), a radical initiator. It was found that the rubber domains were homogeneously dispersed at the nanoscale in the PLA matrix up to 9 wt.% of LPB thanks to the reactive blending in the presence of DCP. Owing to the compatibilization of PLA with LPB through reactive blending, the elongation and toughness of PLA was enhanced, while the hydrolytic degradation of PLA was reduced.
