this paper concerned with the stress analysis of a diaphragm-type air spring which consists of rubber linings nylon reinforced rubber composite. The analysis is carried out with a finite element method developed to consider the orthotropic properties geometric non-linearity and contact between an air bag and a bead ring The material properties are evaluated with the Halpio-Tsai equations and the rule of mixture. The analysis results demonstrate the variation of the outer diameter the fold height and the vertical force with different models to the design a proper diaphragm air springs.

A FEA model is proposed to study the effects of fiber waviness on tensile/comprssive nonlinear behaviors of thick unidirectional composites. In the analyses both material and geometical nonlinarities are considered. The predicted results from the FEA model are compared with those obtained from the previous analytical model (thin carpet model) Tensile/compressive tests are also conducted on the specimens with various controlled fiber waviness to obtain the nonlinear behaviors of composites experimentally. The predictions from the FEA model show better agreements with the experiments than those from the analytical model.

The toughening mechanism and fracture behavior of rubber/polymer composites were investigated with respect to two factors; (1) the composition ratio of polymers(PPO and PS which have a different chain flexibility) and (ii) the rubber particle size in PPO/PS blend system Izod impact test and fractographic observation of the fracture surface using scanning electron microscope were conducted, Finite element analysis were carried out to gain understanding of plastic deformation(shear yielding and crazing) of these materials.

A synthesized model of pultrusion process considering thermally induced deformatiion was established. The model was composed of liquid resin flow model thermo-chemical analysis and linear elastic analysis. in order to verify the above-mentioned models several experiments were performed. A laboratory scale pultrusion line was established and glass/polyester composites were fabricated. the experimental results were compared with the calculated ones. The model successfully could estimate degree of cure pulling force and amount of process-induced deformation.

The vibration behavior of glass-fabric reinforced plastic(GFRP) composite beams subjected to various transverse impacts has been investigated as a function of fiber orientation and void fraction. Theoretical results of resonant frequency damping coefficient and modal amplitude dispersion using the Euler-beam theory were obtained along with the finite element analysis which were compared with experimental ones Consequently it was shown that the transverse vibration characteristics were largely affected by fiber orientation and void fraction.

This paper presents the effects of partial dampers on the lateral vibration of beams. Both shear and normal stresses in the viscoelastic layer were studied. Analytical results were compared with those obtained by a finite element method. Effects of the size of partial dampers on the system loss factors and resonant frequencies were discussed.
