  • ZnO nanotips, grown on c-$Al_2O_3$ and quartz, were implanted variously with 200 keV Fe or Mn ions to a dose level of $5{\times}10^{16}cm^{-2}$. The magnetic properties of these samples were measured using a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer. Fe-implanted ZnO nanotips grown on c-$Al_2O_3$ showed a coercive field width of 209 Oe and a remanent field of 12% of the saturation magnetization ($2.3{\times}10^{-5}emu$) at 300K for a sample annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ for 20 minutes. The field-cooled and the zero-field-cooled magnetization measurements also showed evidence of ferromagnetism in this sample with an estimated Curie temperature of around 350 K. The Mn-implanted ZnO nanotips grown on c-$Al_2O_3$ showed superparamagnetism resulting from the dominance of a spin-glass phase. The ZnO nanotips grown on quartz and implanted with Fe or Mn showed signs of ferromagnetism, but neither was consistent.

  • We investigated the effect of Nb substitution for Ru on the structural and magnetic properties of $(Ru_{1-x}Nb_x)\;Sr_2(Sm_{1.4}Ce_{0.6})Cu_2O_z$ Samples. X-ray diffraction measurements indicated that nearly single-phase samples are formed in the range from x = 0 to 1.0. The superconducting transition temperature determined from the inflection in the field-cooled magnetic susceptibility decreased only slightly from $T_c$ = 25 K for x = 0 to $T_c$ = 22 K for x = 1.0, in consistent with the change in room temperature thermopower of the samples. However, the Nb substitution for Ru above x = 0.25 significantly suppressed the weak ferromagnetic component of the field-cooled magnetic susceptibility. It was also found that the Nb substitution for Ru results in an enhanced diamagnetic susceptibility with Nb content above x = 0.5 in both zero field-cooled and field-cooled magnetization measurements, in contrast to the behavior of the samples with $x{\leq}0.5$ in which the diamagnetic susceptibility decreases as the Nb content increases.

  • Silver-sheathed Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O wires by the powder-in-tube method were preparated to study on the superconducting properties with cooling conditions. Superconducting wires were cooled down in the furnace, air and liquid $N_2$ after sintering at $840^{\circ}C$. Critical current density of sample cooled in the furnace is $5.1{\times}10^3\;A/cm^2$ at 77K, zero magnetic field and Jc of sample cooled in the air is very low. 2223 high-Tc superconducting phase of sample cooled in the air was distroyed. Therefore, we knew that superconducting wire need to cool slowly to get the high critical current density.

  • An input time delay always exists in practical systems. Analysis of the delay phenomenon in a continuous-time domain is sophisticated. It is appropriate to obtain its corresponding discrete-time model for implementation via digital computers. In this paper a new scheme for the discretization of nonlinear systems using Taylor series expansion and the zero-order hold assumption is proposed. The mathematical structure of the new discretization method is analyzed. On the basis of this structure the sampled-data representation of nonlinear systems with time-delayed multi-input is presented. The delayed multi-input general equation has been derived. In particular, the effect of the time-discretization method on key properties of nonlinear control systems, such as equilibrium properties and asymptotic stability, is examined. Additionally, hybrid discretization schemes that result from a combination of the scaling and squaring technique (SST) with the Taylor series expansion are also proposed, especially under conditions of very low sampling rates. Practical issues associated with the selection of the method's parameters to meet CPU time and accuracy requirements, are examined as well. A performance of the proposed method is evaluated using a nonlinear system with time delay maneuvering an automobile.

  • 6.5wt% Si steel is widely known as an excellent magnetic material because its magnetostriction is nearly zero. The AX magnetic properties as magnetostriction of 6.5% Si steel were evaluated and compared with those of conventional 3% Si steel sheet. In this paper, the fracture behavior of the poly crystals and single crystals of Fe-6.5wt%Si alloy has been observed. Single crystals were prepared by Floating Zone(FZ) method, which melts the alloy by the use of high temperature electron beam in pure argon gas condition. And the single crystals were annealed at 500$^{\circ}C$ and 700$^{\circ}C$ respectively and tensile tested at room temperature. According to the result, B2 phase has more good elongation than DO$_3$ phase. It was also found that the fracture surfaces of the single crystals have hairline facets in same direction, and the facets change the direction according to the single crystal phase.

  • In this paper, a refined shear deformation plate theory which eliminates the use of a shear correction factor was presented for FG sandwich plates composed of FG face sheets and an isotropic homogeneous core. The theory accounts for parabolic distribution of the transverse shear strains and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the plate. The mechanical properties of the plate are assumed to vary continuously in the thickness direction by a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Based on the present refined shear deformation plate theory, the governing equations of equilibrium are derived from the principle of virtual displacements. Numerical illustrations concern buckling behavior of FG sandwiches plates with Metal-Ceramic composition. Parametric studies are performed for varying ceramic volume fraction, volume fraction profiles, Boundary condition, and length to thickness ratios. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions.

  • This study examined the effects of multiple recycling on deinkability and properties of recycled paper from laser computer printout (LCPO). First, alkaline paper with a 20% printed area was disintegrated by TAPPI standard disintegrator at room temperature. After dewatering, the pulp was flotated and dried in oven at80$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hrs. A sequence of wetting, disintegrating, flotating and drying was one recycling cycle and this cyclic treatment was repeated from zero to five times. The recycled handsheet dropped to 90% of the original brightness after five cycles, and lost the most brightness after five cycles, and lost the most brightness in the first two cycles. However, it had a gain of 10% in opacity after five cycles as the same as the case of nonprinting. And, in this study, the method for determining residual ink(toner) content in recycled handsheets ere established by means of SEM-EDX and Py-GC. The change of residual ink percentage on recycled paper showed the effect of recycling numbers on deinkability of waste paper. A slight decrease in deinkability was noted for the recycled handsheets, which may be due to the change of fiber surface free energy connected with fiber swelling.

  • To propose a new fire hazard assessment criteria of interior finish materials, the properties and incident heat flux of interior finish materials in a compartment fires are investigated and compared by using flame spread model developed by Quintiere. The properties considered on which fire growth depend are including flame heat flux and thermal inertia, lateral flame spread parameter, heat of combustion and effective heat flux and thermal inertia, lateral flame spread parameter, heat of combustion and effective heat of gasfication. ISO Room Corner Test(9705) is applied in the model and the time for total energy release rate to reach 1MW is examined. The results are compared for the 24 different materials tested by EUREFIC. Dimensionless parameter a, b and ${\gamma}$b are used to develope a new method in which fire hazard of interior finish materials can be classified resulting from correlation between b and flashover time. Results show that if b greater than about zero, flashover time in the ISO Room-Corner Test is principally proportional to ignition time only.

  • This paper presents a method for constructing multiple- valued switching functions based on Galois fields. First the constructing Inethod for single- variable switching functions is developers and the results are extended to multiple- variable functions. The fundalnental Inathelnatical properties used in this paper are. (1) The sum of all elements over CF of is zero. (2) The Product of nonzero elements over GF(N) is equal to e1 for Neven, and e1( ) for N odd. With these properties, a relatlvely simple constructing method is developed, and a process for determining the coefficients of the expanded forms of switching functions is also obtained without successive multiplication of the polynomials. Some examples are given to illustrate the method.

  • In this work, a new hyperbolic shear deformation beam theory is proposed based on a modified couple stress theory (MCST) to investigate the bending and free vibration responses of functionally graded (FG) micro beam made of porous material. This non-classical micro-beam model introduces the material length scale coefficient which can capture the size influence. The non-classical beam model reduces to the classical beam model when the material length scale coefficient is set to zero. The mechanical material properties of the FG micro-beam are assumed to vary in the thickness direction and are estimated through the classical rule of mixture which is modified to approximate the porous material properties with even and uneven distributions of porosities phases. Effects of several important parameters such as power-law exponents, porosity distributions, porosity volume fractions, the material length scale parameter and slenderness ratios on bending and dynamic responses of FG micro-beams are investigated and discussed in detail. It is concluded that these effects play significant role in the mechanical behavior of porous FG micro-beams.
