GPS position errors were corrected for guidance of autonomous vehicles. From the vision, we can obtain the lateral distance from the center of lane and the angle difference between the left and right detected line. By using a controller which makes these two measurements zero, a lane following system can be easily implemented. However, the problem is that if there's no lane, such as crossroad, the guidance system of autonomous vehicle does not work. In addition, Line detection has problems working on curved areas. In this case, the lateral distance measurement has an error because of a modeling mismatch. For this reason, we propose GPS error correction filter based on curve-modeled lane detection and evaluated the performance applying it to an autonomous vehicle at the test site.

A precision linear motion table plays a crucial role in manufacturing systems used in various industries such as machine tools, semiconductors, and nanofabrication. In particular, one of the most typical mechanisms for a linear motion table is to use a ballscrew and LM guides. However, this mechanism is inevitably influenced by friction because of the relative motion in its joint regions. One of the most complex phenomena in friction is the hysteresis behavior of dynamic friction, which was compared with the steady dynamic friction that was presented using a Stribeck curve in this study. Therefore, we investigated the dynamic friction and its hysteresis behavior using a miniaturized linear table equipped with a ballscrew and LM guides that were lubricated with grease. Subsequently, it could be seen that hysteresis could be considered a time delay after zero-velocity crossing and that it was influenced by acceleration.
The potentiometric end-point of redox titrations determined by nulling the second derivative of the titration curve by numerical differentiation method is analyzed by using an electronic digital computer. The error involved in the method is shown to be dependent on the location of the equivalence point in the titrant addition increment that encompasses the latter. The error increases as the equivalence point moves away from the mid-point of the increment toward a maximum value that is as great as a half of the increment. Therefore, when the numerical differentiation method is used to null the second derivative, the end-point should be compared with the steepest point of the titration curve or diluted titrant should be used in the vicinity of the end-point.
The ratcheting characteristics of cylindrical shell under cyclic axial loading are investigated. The specimens are subjected to stress-controlled cycling with non-zero mean stress, which causes the accumulation of plastic strain or ratcheting behavior in continuous cycles. Also, cylindrical shell shows softening behavior under symmetric axial strain-controlled loading and due to the localized buckling, which occurs in the compressive stress-strain curve of the shell; it has more residual plastic strain in comparison to the tensile stress-strain hysteresis curve. The numerical analysis was carried out by ABAQUS software using hardening models. The nonlinear isotropic/kinematic hardening model accurately simulates the ratcheting behavior of shell. Although hardening models are incapable of simulating the softening behavior of the shell, this model analyzes the softening behavior well. Moreover, the model calculates the residual plastic strain close to the experimental data. Experimental tests were performed using an INSTRON 8802 servo-hydraulic machine. Simulations show good agreement between numerical and experimental results. The results reveal that the rate of plastic strain accumulation increases for the first few cycles and then reduces in the subsequent cycles. This reduction is more rapid for numerical results in comparison to experiments.
Because physiological changes that potentially alter pharmacokinetics occurs in diabetes mellitus patients, pharamacokinetics of drugs used in the treatment of hypertension was studied using acebutolol as a model anti-hypertensive drug. Thus, the pharmacokinetics of acebutolol was investigated after oral administration of acebutolol (15 mg/kg) to control rabbits and rabbits with acute or chronic diabetes mellitus induced by alloxan. Kidney and liver functions were documented for acute and chronic diabetes mellitus groups based on plasma chemistry data. After oral administration of acebutolol to acute and chronic groups, the plasma concentrations appeared higher; As a result, area under the plasma concentration-time curve from time zero to time infinity10575 and 8668 $\mu g\cdot$ h/mL for acute and chronic group, respectively. In comparison, the area was apparently smaller in the control group (i.e., 7132 $\mu g\cdot$ h/mL). The half-life in acute groups was significantly prolonged 8.45 h compared with the half-life in the control group (i.e., 6.30 h). Alteration in acebutolol pharmacokinetics was more pronounced in the acute group as evidenced by the significantly higher values the area under the plasma concentration time curve, absorption rate constant and maximum plasma concentration compared with chronic or control group. Therefore, these observations indicate that acebutolol pharmacokinetics may be affected in patients with diabetes mellitus, especially in the early stage of the disease.
The barrier heights of the internal rotations for ethyl halides calculated by ab initio methods differ from those of experiments by more than 0.2 kcal/mol. The use of basis sets larger than the $6-31G^{\ast}$ set and the inclusion of correlation do not improve the agreement between the calculated and experimental values. The zero-point vibration corrections are substantial in the HF calculations with $6-31G^{\ast}$ basis sets, but become negligible in the MP2 calculations with $6-311G^{{\ast}{\ast}}$ basis sets for $C_2H_5F\;and\;C_2H_5Cl$. It is shown that the rigid rotor approximation and the assumed shape of the potential curve as a cos2${\theta}$ curve could also be the sources of discrepancies between calculated and experimental values. Higher order perturbation corrections narrow the gap between experimental and theoretical values, but there still remains about 10% overestimate of 0.3 kcal/mol. Optimized geometries from the HF and MP2 calculations are in good agreement with those from experiments. Dipole moments calculated from the MP2 densities show slightly better agreement with experiments than those from the HF densities.
Shallow tunnels are vulnerable to earthquakes, and shallow ground is usually inhomogeneous. Based on the limit equilibrium method and variational principle, a solution for the seismic collapse mechanism of shallow tunnel in inhomogeneous ground is presented. And the finite difference method is employed to compare with the analytical solution. It shows that the analytical results are conservative when the horizontal and vertical stresses equal the static earth pressure and zero at vault section, respectively. The safety factor of shallow tunnel changes greatly during an earthquake. Hence, the cyclic loading characteristics should be considered to evaluate tunnel stability. And the curve sliding surface agrees with the numerical simulation and previous studies. To save time and ensure accuracy, the curve sliding surface with 2 undetermined constants is a good choice to analyze shallow tunnel stability. Parameter analysis demonstrates that the horizontal semiaxis, acceleration, ground cohesion and homogeneity affect tunnel stability greatly, and the horizontal semiaxis, vertical semiaxis, tunnel depth and ground homogeneity have obvious influence on tunnel sliding surface. It concludes that the most applicable approaches to enhance tunnel stability are reducing the horizontal semiaxis, strengthening cohesion and setting the tunnel into good ground.

In many reservoir projects, economic considerations will necessitate a design utilizing surcharge. Determination of the most economical combination of surcharge and spillway capacity for a given spillway crest level will require flood routing studies and economic studies of the dam-reservoir-spillway combinations. Many methods of actual flood routing have been devised, each of them with its advantages and disadvantages. Some of these methods are listed below: (1) Arithmetical trial-and-error method. (2) Modified Puls' method (3) Cheng's graphical method (4) Horton's arithmetical method (5) Ekadahl's arithmetical method (6) Digital computer programming. For the purpose of preliminary design and cost estimating of dams and spillways, it is often required to estimate, for a given design flood and spillway crest level. the approximate values of two among the three characteristics of the spillway spillway length, maximum discharge and surcharge depth at maximum discharge, when one of these quantities is given. As is well known, the outflow hydrograph for an ungated overflow spillway assumes the form of a wave-shaped curve with a minimum point for Q=o At zero time and a maximum point for Q=Qmax at its intersection with the falling leg of the inflow hydrograph (see Fig. 4) The shaded area between the inflow and outflow hydrographs represents at the approximate scale the temporary retention Vt. In line with the remarks, draw by free hand the assumed outflow hydrograph with its maximum point for the given Qmax (see Fig. 4) and by planimetration find Vt. From the reservoir capacity curve (Fig. 3) find Vs for the given spillway crest level and make V=Vs+Vt. From the above curve find surcharge water elevation for V and surcharge depth Hmax over spillway crest. From the discharge formula compute {{{{L= { Q} over { { CH}^{3/2 } } }}}} The methed provides a means for a quick and fairly accurate estimation of spillway capacity.

Sugar spheres loaded with melatonin (MT) were coated with $Aquacoat^{\circledR}$ to control the release rate of MT over 8 hours. A zero-order release pattern over 8 hours was obtained with 20% coating on 8-10 mesh beads in USP basket dissolution studies. MT in 20% coated beads was quite stable at room temperature with less than 5% MT degraded during 6 months' storage. Dissolution profiles were also unchanged after 6 months. An oral preparation containing MT-loaded uncoated beads for immediate release and 20% coated beads with $Aquacoat^{\circledR}$ for controlled release over 8 hours was evaluated in six human subjects. When total 0.5 mg MT as low dose (immediate release portion of MT, 0.1 mg) was administered to four subjects, average peak plasma MT concentration was reached at about 600 pg/ml and maintained at about 10 pg/ml over 8 hours. Plasma MT concentration-time profiles were similar in shape to computer-simulated profiles. However, maximal plasma MT concentrations were three times greater compared to computer simulated curve. These results suggest that MT dose, ratio of immediate and controlled release MT, and pharmacokinetic parameters selected are adjusted to mimic endogenous MT concentration-time curve. In another study, 0.2 mg MT having 10% of immediate release portion and 80% controlled release portion produced plasma MT concentration-time curve which is more similar to endogenous profiles. A low bioavailability (<20%) may result from extensive first pass metabolism and remaining amounts of MT from controlled beads. A good correlation between plasma MT concentration and urinary excretion rate of 6-sulphatoxymelatonin (6-STMT), a major metabolite of MT was observed. As plasma MT concentration increased, urinary excretion rate of 6-STMT increased concomitantly. The linear relation between plasma MT and urinary excretion rate of 6-STMT was statistically significant. This result suggests that urinary 6-STMT may be used as an index of circadian rhythms of MT in humans.
This study was conducted to explore the tensile strength models in granular soil at the full range of unsaturated state. Direct tension experiments were carried out with a newly developed direct tension technique. The measured experimental data were compared with theoretical models developed by Rumpf and Schubert for monosized ideal particulate solids at the unsaturated state. To do this, the soil-water characteristic curve obtained from a suction-saturation experiment was used to define the unsaturation state and the negative pore water pressure with different water content levels, which are important factors in theoretical tensile strength models. The nonlinear behavior of the tensile strength for unsaturated granular soil at the pendular state is appropriately simulated with Rumpf's model. For the funicular and capillary states, the predicted trend by Schubert's model is properly matched with the experimental data: tensile strength steadily increases and reaches a maximum value and then decreases until it reaches zero. This comparison supports the concept that the tensile strength of unsaturated real granular soil can be approximately simulated with theoretical models.
