A Study on Coordination Image of Korean city woman's Face Color (5YR 7/3) and Clothes Colors (한국도시여성의 얼굴색과 의복색과의 배색이미지에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of present study was to examine how each clothes colors on the basis of 5YR 7/3 face color affect clothes colors images as follows : (1) what general consciousness of clothes colors in, (2) how the impression of the harmony of 5YR 7/3 face color and clothes colors is, (3) when we divide clothes colors according to the property of colors- chromatic color and achromatic color, cool color.neutral color.warm color, in tone, in color colume- if there is the difference of visual evaluation, (4) image analysis of 45 clothes colors with the view of each kind of adjectives. The result of this study is as the following: 1. As a result of the analysis of general consciousness on clothes colors, when subjects chose clothes, they most considered colors and they also considered their face colors. They would choose the color of clothes, which were becoming to their having clothes colors or their face colors when they bought clothes. 2. The impressions of coordination of 5YR 7/3 face color and clothes colors consisted of three dimensions - evaluation, activity and harmony. 3. It was known that as a result of the analysis of visual evalutional differences according to dividing the clothes colors by property of colors, there were such notable differences that they might effect the coordination images of face color and clothes colors differently. 4. After arranging 45 clothes colors on the graphs in 17 adjectives, gethering them thogether in each dimension and as the result of the analysis in the evaluation dimension, estimation of yellow, light green column were low and that of achromatic colors were high. That is, it was known that the evalution dimension was concerned with hue of the color properties. In activity dimension, there were different image according to each adjectives.   • The importance of color is increasing in modern life and we call such present age that is 'color age'. These day that all areas of life are being getting fashionize, ordinary people as well as design specialist are required of culture and knowledge about color. Color design education is important curriculum at liberal arts course and in special design trainning course. Color expresses by hue, value and chroma in Munsell color system. But design spot is using mainly hue and tone color system. Therefore it is very important that educate tone concept in color design education. When think influence that increase of color, we must develop hue and tone color system in suitable for color design education. This research designed usable 'Hue and Tone 313 Colot System' for efficeint sensual color education. Also I designed 313 color papers with attached the Munsell notation which could reappear the spare color paper when needed. The 10 hues classification of this system are Red, Yellow Red, Yellow, Green Yellow, Green, Blue Green, Blue, Purple Blue, Purple, Red Purple. The 19 tones classification of this system are vivid, light, standard, deep, pale, soft, dull, dark, very pale, light grayish, medium grayish, dark grayish, very dark, off White, off Pale, off Light Gray, off Medium Gray, off Dark Gray, off Black. The special colors of this system are gold, silver and copper.

Dyeing of Wool Fabric using Rhubarb Extract (대황 추출액에 의한 모직물 염색)

  • The Purpose of this study is to investigate dyeing properties of fabrics with rhubarb colorants. Rhubarb colorants were extracted with water from sliced dry root of rhubarb. Using rhubarb extract, wool fabric specimens were dyed under various conditions(temperature, time, pH, mordants). Effects of dyeing conditions and mordanting on dyeing properties and colorfastness were studied. The color of the dyed fabric specimens were predominantly yellow for all of the pH range. The optimum condition for dyeing with rhubarb extract was dyeing at $80^{\circ}C$ for 30minutes. Al of 4 kinds of mordating agents and pre-mordanting showed the highest chroma value. Washfastness was 3-4, but the dyed wool fabrics became darker on light exposure.

The Changes in Properties of Silk Fabrics Dyed with Safflower under Ultraviolet-Light (홍화 염색 견직물의 자외선에 의한 성능 변화 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in properties of silk fabrics dyed with safflower red and yellow colorants under Ultraviolet(UV)-light. Silk fabrics dyed with safflower red and yellow colorants were compared with each other after uv-light exposure in terms of K/S value, color changes(${\Delta}E$), morphology, and strength retention. The K/S value rapidly decreased with increasing exposure time for samples of both colorants, but the extent of decrease was less for the samples dyed with safflower yellow colorant, than that of the samples dyed with safflower red colorant. Regarding the color changes with increasing exposure time, $L^*$ and $b^*$ increased, $a^*$ decreased, and thereby ${\Delta}E$ increased in the red-dyed samples, whereas $L^*$ increased, $a^*$ and $b^*$ decreased, and so ${\Delta}E$ increased in the yellow-dyed samples, indicating that the UV-light induced fading and changes of hue, value and chroma value. However, the color change of the yellow-dyed samples was less than that of the red-dyed samples. SEM images showed a severe degradation by UV-exposure for both colorant samples. Tensile strength slowly decreased until 14 days, but rapidly decreased thereafter. Strength retention of the yellow-dyed samples was higher than that of red-dyed samples.

A Study on the Changes in the Property of Nylon Fabrics Dyed with Safflower Under Ultraviolet-Light(UV) - Focused on the Changes in Color, Strength, and Surface - (홍화 염색 나일론 직물의 자외선에 의한 특성 변화 - 색상, 강도 및 표면 특성 변화를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relation between the trend of art and fashion which predominate a certain time. In order to achieve this goal, this study intends to analyze how plasticity found in Mondrian's pictures are applied to modern fashion with its focus on formative elements. Mondrian was ahead of abstractionism, a major trend of contemporary art, and defined the theory of neo-plasticism. The theory of neo-plasticism defined by Mondrian is characterized by the limited expression of lines and shapes by using only vertical and horizontal straight lines, and right angles and four-sided figures weaved by the lines, and the use of achromatic color(black, white, and gray) in three primary colors(red, blue, and yellow). Based on his theory, he fully displayed the world of geometric abstraction. Mondrian's formative elements which have been applied in modern fashion can be divided into shape and color, For the element of shape, first, horizontal and vertical lines have been applied to patterns, trimmings, detail, and plane of textiles through simplification of design, representing proportion, balance, and stress in a silhouette, Second, plane and diamond shapes made of horizontal and vertical lines have been applied to textiles or patterns with uniqueness. For the element of color, first, three primary colors and achromatic colors are used to seek the aesthetics of balance and harmony that are produced in the strain of conflict through brightness, chroma, and complementary colors, Second, primary colors of high chroma and brightness which are much stronger than pictures are used to express a modern sense. Formative elements of neo-plasticism, which have been applied to modern fashion suggested by this study, are connected with the trend of art contemporary designers have borrowed, Accordingly, this study will become a very helpful material which provides designers with original ideas in developing materials and patterns which connect design with art.

Fabric color and color difference recognized by smartphone display during mobile shopping - Focused on instrument analysis method - (모바일 쇼핑 시 스마트폰 화면으로 인지되는 직물의 색상과 색차 비교 - 기기분석 방법을 중심으로 -)

  • Mobile shoppers have encountered frequent color mismatch in the products that they have purchased, as they can only rely on their sense of sight. Therefore, fabric color and color difference recognized by smartphone display during mobile shopping were studied using instrument analysis method. It aimed to gather precise information on actual fabric color understanding of the mobile shoppers purchasing textile products. Three smartphones were selected from LG, Samsung, and Apple companies, and four colors were researched (red, yellow, green and blue) to both polyester and wool test fabrics for color analysis though color measuring instruments. The results from the spectrophotometer indicated that the color coordinate location of smartphone fabric color is similarly distributed regardless of the type of fabric. The Samsung smartphone displays a relatively high color chroma (especially on red-colored fabric) regardless of the type of fabric due to a high color reproduction range. In contrast, the LG smartphone, which has high color temperature, displays high color chroma on the blue colored fabric with a significant color mismatch between the actual fabric color and smartphone fabric color. From the results of this study, issues related to mobile shopping can be addressed through an analysis of the products sold, the smartphone's color representation, and user understanding.

Mixture Dyeing of Silk Fabrics with Gardenia and Xanthium Strumarium L. to Improve the Functionality (기능성 증진을 위한 치자색소와 창이자에 의한 견직물의 복합염색)

  • This study had a purpose of further investigating and developing the usage of the eco-friendly functional dye that has physiological and pharmacological functions. This study was implemented complex dyeing method which used both natural dyes such as Gardenia jasminoides J.Ellis colorant, which are the yellow dyes that have high brightness and low chroma, and Xanthium strumarium L. extract. The silk fabrics were used to dye in various methods. They were also used to investigate functionalities dyed fabrics by various treating method, such as their color fastness, antibacterial activities and deodorization, the following were obtained. The fabrics that were dyed with herbs had decreasing brightness as the herbs extract concentrations were increased and had subtly changing chroma. But, because their K/S values were under 0.5, they were not properly dyed. Color fastness differed according to the natural dyes and herbs' complex dyeing order. The Color fastness was good when the fabrics were dyed with the colorant first, and then with the herb. When the fabrics were dyed with mixture dyeing solution, the natural dye and the herb extract, the herb didn't affect the dyeabilities of fabrics as much. When the fabrics were dyed with the mixture of the colorant and the herb extract, the dyeabilities didn't have much changes. However, their color fastnesses were improved a little bit due to the complex dyeing condition. When the fabrics were dyed with the mixture of the colorant and the herbs extract, their antibacterial activities and deodorization were increased.

Genetic Expression of Color Approved by Color Qualities of Munsell System on the Cocoon of Silkworm, Bombyx mori (누에 고치색 유전자 발현의 다양성 검정 및 색채과학적 해석)

  • Color qualities investigated on the basis of Munsell code and Korean standard color code for the cocoons from various strain of mulberry silkworm, Bombyx mori. 16 of different color qualities were identified from 21 of original silworm strains, and determinated international name with the revision of Korean color name for cocoon. The various cocoon color confirmed on the sphere from 567 to 593 nm wavelength, 78% of those located at the region about 580 nm (575~584) of sensitive "color difference limen". Y gene engaged broad ranges of wavelength (575~593 nm) in the color expression, by contrast with other genes of Pk (593 nm), F (584~593), Grc and relative G group (567~570 nm), on the transmission of carotenoid or flavonoid color substance. YC gene expression by original silk worm strain was also distinguished by those variation of specific yellow than other colors from Grc, GaGb, Gc, and YPkF. Appearance of chrome yellow cocoon was dominant than other yellow in the cross among vivid yellow group. F1 of pin${\times}$green produced the cocoon of yellow such as "additive mixture" as color light, however, most of the hybrid between yellow cocoon showed the color similar to "subtractive mixture" as a mixture of dyestuff. Hybrid cocoons among yellow or green colors were decreased their hue, value, and chroma, than those of parent. Diallel cross among the strain of various green cocoon suggest the existence of Grc, Ga, Gb, Gc genes. Cream colored cocoon of B. mandarina was differed from other yellow cocoon of Bobyx mori B. mori. Y$^A$ with Ymc showed the similar role of Y with C, therefore, segregated yellow cocoon from the B. mori${\times}$B. mandarina (+$^YC/Y^AYmc$). YC expression of $Y^AY$mc genes might be suppressed by deficiency of outer layer sericin on the middle division of silk giand in the B. mandarina.

Coloration of Han-bok on Modern Korean Oil-Paintings (한국 근대 서양화에 표현된 한복의 배색에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to comprehend the color and the coloration of Han-bok on the oil-painting of modern Korea. Generally, the modern Korean art is from late 19th to early 1980s' for the lowest year. Through the introduction of oil painting and the painter's work which had been reflected painter's realism at these times, we might know that the phases of the times and we could see a Korean costume and color combination. In this study, Han-bok is divided to upper clothes, lower clothes and the other parts which was distinguished by the color. The color of Han-bok which is watched on the modern art oil-painting is mainly white. The primary color including red, yellow, blue and middle tone colors is in harmony. It means that the five colors of Yin-Yang Wu-hsing were preferred until the modern times. The coloration of Han-bok is classified to a one-colored arrangement, two-colored arrangement and three-colored arrangement. The one-colored arrangement by white and black is a peculiar coloration to the modern times. The two-colored arrangement is a traditional coloration of Han-bok. The color which is high value and chroma is arranged on jacket, Jeogori. A dimension rate that is related with the difference of value and chroma made a visual harmony. In many cases of the two-colored arrangement of neutral colors is not much different in Jeogori and Chima. So Han-bok which is two-colored arrangement of neutral colors is colored in a breast- tie, pigtail ribbon, cuff and waist band for getting visual focus. The represented three-colored arrangement is white Jeogori and navy blue Chima with red breast-tie. It is a perfect visual color combination. The color of Han-bok was inherited a traditional color and the combination of neutral color was balanced. It was a refinable coloration system according to a difference of value and chroma. It means that a color sensation and arrangement of Korean have been developed by our unique climate, nations and the culture which has been formed for a long times.
