본 고에서는 인터넷 가입자의 지속적인 초고속서비스 수요증가에 따라 차세대 xDSL 기술로 부상하고 있는 VDSL기술의 특성과 표준화 동향을 소개한다. VDSL 기술은 FTTC가입자 망의 전화동선 구간에 비대칭 52Mbps/6.4Mbps, 대칭 34Mbps의 데이터 전송이 가능하여 인터넷방송, 주문형 비디오(VoD), 원격과외/교육(EoD), 고화질 TV 등 대용량의 멀티미디어 서비스를 경제적으로 제공할 수 있다. VDSL은 가입자 댁내까지 광선로가 포설되는 FTTH 가입자 망 기술의 경제성 및 사업성이 확보될 때까지 ADSL에 이은 새로운 초고속 인터넷 접속기술로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

엑세스 게이트웨이는 차세대 통신망(NGN)으로의 진화과정에서 PSTN, xDSL 등 다양한 서비스 가입자가 망으로의 접속을 가능하게 해주기 위해 필요한 시스템이다 이 시스템을 안정적으로 운용하기 위해서는 주요보드가 이중화되어 처리되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 엑세스 게이트웨이 제어부의 이중화 설계 및 구현 방법에 대하여 논한다.

수동형 광가입자망 (PON: Passive Optical Network) 기술은 가입자의 단말과 국사의 장비를 광섬유로 직접 연결하여 기존의 전화선 및 동축케이블을 이용한 xDSL 및 HFC등에 비해 전송속도가 빠르고 관리가 수월한 인터넷 서비스 제공이 가능한 기술이다. 본고에서는 ITU-T와 IEEE에서 진행중인 차세대 수동형 광가입자망 기술의 국제 표준화 동향에 대하여 알아보고, 관련 기술개발 현황 및 새롭게 부각되는 스마트 광 분배망 기술과 SDN (Software Defined Network) 기반 광가입자망 운용관리 등의 연구분야에 대하여 알아본다.

정보통신서비스의 멀티미디어화, 실시간화가 보편적 요구조건으로 자리잡으면서 인프라의 광대역화, 고속화가 당면 과제로 되고 있다. 현존하는 가입자망이 집선 혹은 다중화 기능을 이용한 페어게인 시스템을 기반으로 하고 있으나, 규제완화와 정보통신서비스 고도화에 의해 새로운 가입자망의 탄생이 예고되고 있다. 이에 따라 기존 동선을 사용하여 전송 대역을 확장하는 xDSL(x Digital Subscriber Line)기술, 광케이블을 사용하여 광대역 전송능력을 지원할 뿐 아니라 가입자 배선능력을 획기적으로 개선하는 FTTx(Fiber To The x)기술, 광대역 전송 능력을 지원하는 광휘더와 배선 순기비용을 원천적으로 삭감시키는 무선 배선을 결합하여 새로운 비지니스 기회를 제공하는 HFR(Hybrid Fiber Radio)기술, 댁내 배선상의 병목을 제거하기 위한 WHAN(Wireless Home Area NetWork) 기술등이 가입자 접속능력을 초고속화하기 위한 기반이 될 것으로 예상된다. 본고에서는 정보통신서비스의 발전이 가입자 접속방식과 가입자망의 구성방식에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 초고속 가입자 접속 기술의 전개 방향과 가입자망의 진화 전망을 기술한다.

It is generallyaccepted that broadband access technologies will play an important role in the National Information Infrastructure. However, the provision of direct fibers to residential and small business customers has always been considered a challenge. To accelerage the provision of Broadband Access Facilities, alternatibe paths could be identified and actaivated in parallel. In this paepr, we present an overview of the alternative access technologies focusing on xDSL, FTTx, HFC, HFR, and suggest the modeling of the access netetwork systems which is using of the technologies. Also to investigate the economics of each access systems, we derve the numerical equations which is summed up the al parameter including the labor cost of the model system. The proposed equation has a variable which is the cell size (or subsciber clusters) and calculate the real cost values which is normalized by the copper cable unit cost. From the numerical resutls, we conclude that the economic access method to provide these broadband capabilities is depended on the subscriber penetration, the patterns of subscriber distribution density and existing communication infrastructures. It can be expected that our analytical model and equations provides an elegant solution to choose the optimal broadband access technologies to residential and small business customers.

Residential broadband networks (RBN) are quickly evolving from xDSL/Cable networks to FTTH services with lOOMbps bandwidth. With the high-speed Internet services, subscribers tend to use web, multimedia, game or file sharing applications. Therefore, performance of RBN is important to the quality of services for users. Typically, Internet service providers (ISPs) are providing their RBN performance results that are measured by subscribers with the dedicated measurement tools. However, they do not make their results public to people. In order to obtain the performance results measured by users, we have to induce a lot of subscribers, which will take a lot of cost and time. Monarch, that is used in this paper, could provide the 3rd party measurement method without the help of ISPs and subscribers. With the extensive experiments through Monarch, we have shown that 3rd party measurement results are not much different from those of user-initiated measurement. In addition, we have observed that bandwidth is around $80{\sim}90Mbps$ and RTT is less than 30ms in FTTH services provided by three major Korean ISPs.

Recently, Telecommunication companies have introduced a new network architecture that assigns network resources consistent and protects their systems more secure. Now, they provide multimedia services through various types of access networks. In this study, I'd like to introduce IP address assignment method based on the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and find out how success or failure of Ip address assignment will be taken place according to the booting order of xDSL modem, AP and PC.

There are many kinds of predominant modes to transfer Multimedia information on internet in the world. Various methods are applied to get real time multimedia data as possible as we need. At the moment it is very difficult to use acceptable technologies for performe those methods effectively on the Networks. This paper gives the alternative directions and trends for research and development of multimedia transmission on the internet. ATM is one of the best mode to transfer mass-multimedia data at the high speed on the Broad-Band ISDN until now. And xDSL (xDigital Subscriber Line) is an excellent typical method on the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) using old type telephone line. But they are not yet applied into the phase of practical use together this time. So this paper analyzes what we need and how to develop the multimedia transmission modes which we can send on the internet without a problem or any difficulty for our various multimedia information all the time under low cost and high speed.

현재 국내 초고속 인터넷 인프라는 세계 최고 수준으로 xDSL 계열의 디지털 가입자 회선과 HFC(Hybrid Fiber Coxial) 망을 활용한 케이블 모뎀이 시장을 거의 차지하고 치열한 경쟁을 보이고 있다. 하지만 서비스 가입자 수준은 거의 포화점에 다다른 것으로 보이며 앞으로 속도를 비롯한 품질 면에서 진보된 차세대 인터넷 접속 서비스 구축을 계획하고 있다. NGN은 유무선 통합을 통한 다양한 서비스를 제공을 목표로 정부나 기업에서 추진 중은 차세대 통합 정보통신 인프라이다. 이 NGN을 실현시킬 수 있는 가입자 망 기술로서는 FTTH가 유력하게 거론되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 초고속 인터넷 서비스 수요에 대한 체계적인 분석을 통하여 NGN 서비스 특성을 반영하는 적절한 예측 모형을 제시하였다. FTTH 가입자 수요를 예측하기 위해 본 논문에서는 Bass 모형의 변형인 변형된 공존 Bass 모형을 이용하였다.

우리나라는 전국적인 초고속 정보통신망을 구축하고, 전체 가구의 70%(약 1천만 세대)가 초고속 인터넷에 가입하는 등 세계 최고의 정보 인프라를 보유한 IT 강국임은 주지의 사실이다. 그러나 최근 정보통신환경은 인터넷 서비스의 복합, 다양화, 고품질, 고속화 추세로 인해 xDSL 등 기존 기술의 한계를 해결할수 있는 새로운 차세대 가입자망(FTTH) 기술이 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 본 고에서는 국내외 FTTH 기술및 시장 현황을 살펴보고 향후 FTTH 장비 시장 규모를 예측함으로써 우리나라의 FTTH 추진 현주소를파악하고 향후 추진방향을 모색하고자 한다.
