As media technology has made rapid progress, cultures in the world have spread fast. In addition, Korea wave spreading toward the world is taking shape as a brand that represents essential Koreanness. Such tendency has led attempts to seek Koreanness in the field of space design. The desire to escape from the absence of humanity that is based on mechanistic nature view has led a variety of ideas and concepts on space. In particular, concept of phenomenological space centering on human body has been emphasized. Merleau-Ponty found concept of phenomenological space that emphasizes awareness through experience of human body. In this thesis, orientation as situation, temporality as body, depth as consciousness, and correlational orientation which are key concepts of Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology were covered. Such concepts were used in analyzing the characteristics of Buseoksa Temple to present essential Koreanness.

Camera calibration in machine vision is the process of determining the intrinsic camera parameters and the three-dimensional (3D) position and orientation of the camera frame relative to a certain world coordinate system. On the other hand, Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy system is a very popular fuzzy system and approximates any nonlinear function to arbitrary accuracy with only a small number of fuzzy rules. It demonstrates not only nonlinear behavior but also transparent structure. In this paper, we present a novel and simple technique for camera calibration for machine vision using TSK fuzzy model. The proposed method divides the world into some regions according to camera view and uses the clustered 3D geometric knowledge. TSK fuzzy system is employed to estimate the camera parameters by combining partial information into complete 3D information. The experiments are performed to verify the proposed camera calibration.

Belief is generally understood as a mental phenomenon which is aimed to attain objective information of the world. Thus, the content of belief is not something that can be manipulated or created by men. The primary function of belief in a word is to represent the world correctly. Now, William James in his "The Will to Believe" challenges this view. According to James, one can come to believe something by choosing to believe it. And he argues for his position by criticizing W. K. Clifford who wrote an essay entitled "The Ethics of Belief". In this paper, I examine both arguments given by them and show whose position is more convincing.

This paper deals with new realizations of research, scientific development, managerial and economic optimizations for prefabricated building systems. In the literature, all scientific fields are worked out based on the efficiencies, costs, benefits, choice of execution design, technical demands, aesthetical point of view, as well as the total economics. In the present example of a school-building for communities in the third world, the following criteria have been regarded: The optimal superstructure of prefabricated concrete building systems; the particularity of countries of the Third World (e.g. the climate, the political and the economic conditions); the time for construction and necessary innovative developments for an economically optimized superstructure. Added to this are alternative construction-methods and costs for a simple but variable system which can be adapted to changing functions, where variability should be the main point. For example, a school building that is to be adapted by varying number of rooms to cater for the growing number of pupils.

The paper examined Southeast Asia as a whole and focused on similarities among countries composing what is now known as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). In order to determine these similarities, the analysis focused on the fact that during World War II the whole of Southeast Asia was occupied by one political power: Japan. The policies the Japanese implemented in the region were to a degree very similar in terms of pressures and tensions that occurred in the different countries. The paper argues that these pressures and the responses of the various peoples of Southeast Asia instilled a nucleus of common identity in Southeast Asia as a whole. Basically, the policies that the Japanese implemented all over Southeast Asia were the following: the setting up regional administrations; the extraction of resources and emphasis on local self-sufficiency; the implementation of cultural Japanization; and local indigenization policies. The Southeast Asian responses that crystalized this joint Southeast Asian identity may be described as: accommodating and resisting the Japanese; commemorating portraying; and collectively remembering the era. The process of action and reaction between Japan and Southeast Asia was formative of this joint Southeast Asian identity.

The advent of microprocessor controls and robotics is rapidly changing the face of manufacturing throughout the world. Large and small companies alike are adopting these new methods to improve the efficiency of their operations. Factory Automation, which is in reality by robots, is playing more important role in economic competition and growth. Its core technology, i.e. robotics, is advanced in accordance with the remarkable progress of the computer technology and micro-electronics. Roughly speaking, its future might determine the fate of a national economy. In this paper, the future trends of such robotics and factory automation are described from a point of view of industrial application.

Six Sigma is one of the most active subjects in quality management. This study deals with some existing weaknesses that may arise in implementing Six Sigma in real world situations. The main weaknesses discussed here include the lack of understanding of cultural aspects on the nations and industries, the poor linkage between quality, finance and accounting from the bottom line point of view, and the difficult development process of metrics for all improvement results to validate the effect of Six Sigma. Finally, the key success characteristics for a good Six Sigma project are presented.

Many large organizations that have allocated resources to Data Administration(DA) have DA-context meta data mining. Also meta data is an interesting topic in the data warehouse world. This conceptual view gradually cleared up, and recently we have been talking more confidently about the back-room and front-room meta data. We describe the processes and problems that characterize the general architecture of s meta data mining system to do improve management efficiency that require further research and development.

TQM(total quality management) is accepted as the powerful and holistic management innovation tools in the worldwide corporations since "Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award" model is established by US government. But nowadays, TQM′s roles and positions for the competitiveness is challenged from other many management innovations tools. This paper identifies the TQM′s roles and positions as the sources of sustainable competitive advantages through the examples of Japanese manufacturing corporations which enjoy the strongest positions since 1980′s in world market.
