  • One of the most important technologies today is augmented reality technology, it allows users to experience the real world using virtual objects that are combined with the real world. This technology is interesting and has become applied in many sectors such as the shopping and medicine, also it has been included in the sector of education. In the field of education, AR technology has become widely used due to its effectiveness. It has many benefits, such as arousing students' interest in learning imaginative concepts that are difficult to understand. On the other hand, studies have proven that collaborative between students increases learning opportunities by exchanging information, and this is known as Collaborative Learning. The use of multimodal creates a distinctive and interesting experience, especially for students, as it increases the interaction of users with the technologies. The research aims at developing collaborative framework for developing achievement of 6th graders through designing a framework that integrated a collaborative framework with a multimodal input "hand-gesture and touch", considering the development of an effective, fun and easy to use framework with a multimodal interaction in AR technology that was applied to reformulate the genetics and traits lesson from the science textbook for the 6th grade, the first semester, the second lesson, in an interactive manner by creating a video based on the science teachers' consultations and a puzzle game in which the game images were inserted. As well, the framework adopted the cooperative between students to solve the questions. The finding showed a significant difference between post-test and pre-test of the experimental group on the mean scores of the science course at the level of remembering, understanding, and applying. Which indicates the success of the framework, in addition to the fact that 43 students preferred to use the framework over traditional education.

  • Background: Humbo Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) forest is managed through direct involvement of the local community and funded by the World Vision Australia through World Vision Ethiopia under framework of the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism on greenhouse gas emissions. Understanding the amount and distribution of carbon stored in forests across different elevations will enhance ability to anticipate how forests will react to future climate conditions and carbon levels. The aim of the study was to quantify the amount of carbon stocks along altitudinal gradients in the Humbo FMNR forest in southern Ethiopia. A total of 54 nested sample plots of 20 m × 20 m were established on transects of elevation gradients. Inventories of woody species and soil samples (0-10 cm and 10-20 cm depth) were collected within each nested sample plot. Carbon stocks in woody biomass and soil were compared by three elevation classes. Results: The total carbon stocks significantly (p < 0.05) differed among the three altitudinal gradients. There is no significant difference in biomass carbon stocks between the middle (1,610-1,750 m above sea level [a.s.l.]) and lower (1,470-1,610 m a.s.l.) elevations. However, both of these elevations significantly differ (p < 0.05) from the higher (1,750-1,890 m a.s.l.) elevation, despite an increase in carbon stocks from lower to higher elevations. The highest ecosystem carbon stock was contributed by soil carbon. The higher proportion of C stocks at the higher elevations may be associated to the species composition and dominance with larger wood density. Conclusions: It was concluded that even though soil carbon contributed higher carbon to the total carbon stock, biomass is stronger impact than soil carbon when it comes to carbon stock variation by altitudinal gradients. We recommend that carbon-related awareness creation on reducing emission for the local people and promotion of knowledge on carbon stock credits accounting and to be claimed in future for financing, which could be considered as additional possible option for sustainable forest management.

  • In the world, the flow of globalization are causing that many cities in the world are trying to enhance city awareness and city image through the establishment of their identity. Seoul has also preceded various studies in order to establish its identity of the urban landscape in this flow. But, most of studies have only considered some of the problems of the urban landscape and its improvement. Therefore, a study to understand the current built urban landscape and its own identity has not been studied yet. In this study, we propose an analyzing and visualizing framework of the urban landscape through an internet survey using the compare contents based on the differences in Cognition and recognition. The core of the framework which analyses the differences in Cognitions and recognition about the urban landscape was performed by the correct and clear rate. In addition, it was extracted from the answers of the survey and the visualization, was performed by diagrams of accuracy rate that was derived from the correlation between the correct rate and the clear rate.

  • Purpose: This study aims to comprehensively assess the characteristics and effectiveness of immersive virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) in nursing education among nursing students and nurses. Methods: A thorough search was conducted in seven databases (PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, RISS, KMbase, and KoreaMed) for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published in English or Korean before February 20, 2024. The quality of the included RCTs was assessed using the revised Cochrane Risk of Bias tool for randomized trials. A random-effects model was applied for the meta-analysis using Review Manager 5.4. Results: Out of the 15,840 studies extracted, ten were selected. Of those ten, the majority (six, 60%) were conducted on education dealing with specific nursing situations. In addition to the use of immersive VR or AR during nursing education, lectures, debriefing, and discussion processes were applied together, and device usage orientation was also provided. The meta-analyses showed that immersive VR or AR in nursing education significantly improved knowledge (standardized mean difference, SMD=2.64; 95% confidence interval, 95% CI=1.10~4.17) and skills (SMD=0.58, 95% CI=0.02~1.15). Conclusion: Immersive VR or AR in nursing education can effectively enhance knowledge and skills. However, for their development and implementation, various factors should be considered, and these findings are expected to provide valuable evidence regarding that concern.

  • Due to liberalization in the early stage, mobile communications market has grown rapidly in the world. However, some dominant operators set higher termination call charges, and thus the market has been distorted and customer welfare has been reduced a lot. The regulation of mobile termination charges is one of key issues of most regulatory agencies in the world. According to the survey, the level of mobile termination charges are quite different from country to country. Why is it so different? This paper investigated the determinants affecting the mobile termination charges for 28 countries by considering country-specific, industry-specific, and regulatory-specific conditions. We found that some regulatory-specific conditions are the most important factors. The rate of pre-paid contract and period of regulation mostly affect the mobile termination charges.
