  • The risk of facilities in catenary is increasing because the railway section extension and high-speed train service. And visual check of workforce is not enough time to maintain the extensive railway facilities. Accordingly, The technical development trend of maintenance of railway facilities can be seen by automation and application of IT technology, especially the mechanization work and the information technology are spreading in the maintenance work of the train line solved by manpower. In this paper, we describe the method by obtaining the cantilever image using acquisition device and pole inspection system in high speed vehicle, to check the variation of the cantilever component using image processing.

  • Artificial-intelligence (AI) semiconductors are crucial for securing national core competitiveness, including dominating the AI and data ecosystem and succeeding in the Digital New Deal. When examining the macroenvironment, the global division of labor in the semiconductor industry has weakened owing to the technological competition between the United States and China. Major countries are aiming to build the entire semiconductor ecosystem around their territories. As a result, these countries are formulating policy goals tailored to their realities and actively pursuing key policies such as research and development, securing manufacturing bases, workforce development, and financial support. These policies also focus on intercountry cooperation and bold government policy support, which is deemed essential. To secure core competitiveness in AI semiconductors, South Korea needs to examine the policy directions of major countries and actively formulate and implement policies for this semiconductor industry.

  • To investigate the causes of Korea's growth slowdown over the past thirty years, we estimate the contributions of major developmental factors, including i) demographic factors (changes in population growth and workforce age due to the demographic transition), ii) quality-of-life-related choice factors (changes in working hours, education, and the female employment rate), iii) structural change, and iv) the effects of productivity catch-up. Our estimates show that these four groups of factors account for approximately 90 percent of the growth slowdown, with demographic factors contributing approximately 30 percent and the other three groups of factors each contributing about 20 percent. We also show that the same factors explain most of Korea's high growth in the 1980s. These results suggest that Korea's growth slowdown is basically a consequence of its successful economic development and that the high growth and subsequent slowdown can be regarded as a single process. In addition, given that the factors examined here exhibit similar patterns of change in the course of economic development of most countries, we think that our estimation results of the relationship between economic development and changes in economic growth trends could have more general implications that go beyond Korea's experience.

  • This paper discussed motivation, some theories of motivation and motivation of library personnel. The most important aspect of any organization is its workforce. Motivation arouses, energizes, influences and sustains behaviour and performance of employees. Motivating factors include extrinsic factors which pertain to the conditions under which a job is performed and intrinsic motivators which contribute to job satisfaction and subsequently increase productivity. Two levels of motivation were identified in the library: the need-factor motivation and the profession-related motivation. Need-factor motivation is well-pronounced in the lower cadre of library staff such as library assistants, clerical staff, and porters who set their priority on economic needs. The profession-related motivation occurs among professionally trained librarians whose motivation hinges self-fulfillment derived from professional growth and development. Other motivating factor in the library is job design which includes job rotation, job enlargement, and job enrichment. Job design specifies the contents or methods of any job in such a way that various requirements of a job can be effectively satisfied. Adequate motivation of library employees lies with the managers because they generally control work distribution, freedom and autonomy, work challenge Remove, staff development and training, and advancement opportunities. The managers are urged to create enabling environment to ensure improved commitment, satisfaction, and productivity of employees in the library.

  • IS-Geo (International School for Geoscience Resources) was established with a purpose of developing domestic and international human resources within the field of geological resources, andit has been achieving its training goals well since its inception. This study conducted training needs analysis and training performance assessment to assure the objectivity of the performance outcome of IS-Geo. For the training needs analysis, Borich's equation and Locus for Focus method were used. A survey was utilized for the training performance assessment to analyze the satisfaction and the transfer of training based on gender, age, education, and attendance of the trainees. The results of this study showed that training needs of training course in the fields of geology, mineral resources, petroleum and marine, and geologic environment have been deducted, and the urgent need of training course development has been determined by locus for focus. As a result of performance assessment of training course, the fields of mineral resources and geologic environment's course showed a higher satisfaction with the learning achievement than the course of geology fields.

  • This study aims to suggest methods for improving innovation capability in Daegu-Gyeongbuk's mobile industry. Before offering suggestions, it analyzes the characteristics of technological innovation based on the mobile industry's value chain in Daegu-Gyeongbuk in relation to R&D workforce, R&D expenditures, and R&D networks. Support for R&D workforce in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk's mobile industry is concentrated in the mobile device and contents sectors. In addition, it is difficult for companies to finance R&D expenditures because most are SMEs, except for some large enterprises in the mobile device sector. R&D networks are structured mainly inside of companies, and linkages among universities, research institutes, and supporting institutes are weak in all sectors. To strengthen the innovation capability in Daegu-Gyeongbuk's mobile industry, therefore, human resource projects should be dispersed, and financial support should also be spread across value chain sectors rather than concentrated. Aside from this, a place for industry, academia, institutes, and government to build and enhance innovative networks should be created in all sectors.
