Measuring the quality of city life (QCL) is important for city marketing given that QCL influences the city brand image and resident city relationship. Despite its importance, most previous measures of community well being were developed in the context of small towns, and limited attention has been given to a subjective measure of QCL in the context of a large city. This study develops and tests a subjective measure of quality of city life (QCL) in the context of a large metropolitan city. Quality of city life (QCL) refers to the degree of need satisfaction and feelings of happiness one experiences during the course of city life. The results from a survey of 507 residents from 25 major districts in Seoul indicate that the QCL measure has convergent and discriminate validity. The results also indicate that QCL has predictive validity in relation to satisfaction with city services, trust in the city government, word of mouth communication, and a sense of citizen pride. The managerial and policy implications of this study are discussed.
This paper presents a method for the automatic recognition of pitch accents with no prior knowledge about the phonetic content of the signal (no knowledge of word or phoneme boundaries or of phoneme labels). The recognition algorithm used in this paper is a time-delay recurrent neural network (TDRNN). A TDRNN is a neural network classier with two different representations of dynamic context: delayed input nodes allow the representation of an explicit trajectory F0(t), while recurrent nodes provide long-term context information that can be used to normalize the input F0 trajectory. Performance of the TDRNN is compared to the performance of a MLP (multi-layer perceptron) and an HMM (Hidden Markov Model) on the same task. The TDRNN shows the correct recognition of $91.9{\%}\;of\;pitch\;events\;and\;91.0{\%}$ of pitch non-events, for an average accuracy of $91.5{\%}$ over both pitch events and non-events. The MLP with contextual input exhibits $85.8{\%},\;85.5{\%},\;and\;85.6{\%}$ recognition accuracy respectively, while the HMM shows the correct recognition of $36.8{\%}\;of\;pitch\;events\;and\;87.3{\%}$ of pitch non-events, for an average accuracy of $62.2{\%}$ over both pitch events and non-events. These results suggest that the TDRNN architecture is useful for the automatic recognition of pitch accents.
An information retrieval system, using exact match, needs preprocessing or query expansion to generate transliteration variants in order to search foreign word transliteration variants in the documents. This paper proposes an effective method to generate other transliteration variants from a given transliteration. Because simple rewriting of confused characters produces too many false variants, the proposed method controls the generation priority by learning confusion patterns from real uses and calculating their probability. Especially, the left and right context of a pattern is considered, and local rewriting probability and global rewriting probability are calculated to produce more probable variants in earlier stage. The experimental result showed that the method was very effective by showing more than 80% recall with top 20 generations for a transliteration variants set collected from KT SET 2.0.
Currently, as Internet users increase, the use of swearword is indiscriminately increasing. As a result, cyber violence among teenagers is increasing very seriously, and among them, cyber-language violence is the most serious. In order to eradicate cyber-language violence, research on detection of swearword has been conducted, but the method of detecting swearword by looking at the meaning of words and the flow of context is insufficient. Therefore,in this paper,we propose a method of detecting swearword using FastText model and LSTM model so that deliberately modified swearword and standard language can be accurately detected by looking at the flow of context.
E-commerce market has been increasing rapidly, which reflects the convenience and economic benefits associated with its usage. Unlike the traditional markets, WOM (Word-of-Mouth) becomes more important because e-commerce consumers can't experience the real product in the purchase decision-making process. In this regard, identifying the influencing factors to WOM of internet e-commerce site is very important. In this paper, we aim to examine the effects of perceived and individual variables on WOM in the context of internet e-commerce site. In order to analyze the antecedents, we selected perceived and individual factors such as regret tendency scale, prior knowledge and merchandise attractiveness. In addition, we examined the role of gender as dummy and moderating variable. For empirical analysis, we surveyed real users of internet e-commerce site. As a result, all antecedents showed significant influence on WOM except regret tendency scale. Among the variables, the merchandise attractiveness has top standardized coefficient. Gender plays a role as moderating variable when only interacting with regret tendency scale. The results of this research can be useful guidelines for internet e-commerce providers.

In the age of information, newly produced knowledge is mostly written in English. Therefore, there has been a strong demand for English language learning in the EFL context. However, most EFL learners possess a lack of interest and motivation in the text-based reading class. In this educational context, film is one of the most widely used materials in English reading classes considering that modern learners are predominantly familiar with various audiovisual materials. The purpose of this study is to investigate how Korean EFL learners experienced in the film-based reading class. Specifically, this study aims to analyze the EFL students' perceptions about the class and learning strategies that they used during the class. In order to comprehensively interpret the EFL learners' experiences in the classroom, a coding system consisting of five categories was developed: report, emotion, reflection, evaluation, future plans. The results of data analysis showed that the use of movies in English reading classes had positive effects on reading comprehension and inference of word meaning. The most frequently used learning strategies were affective strategies which helped them control their emotion, attitude, motivations and values, whereas memorization strategies were rarely used. In this respect, this study suggests that the use of movies in the EFL reading classroom encourage students' attention and help them obtain and activate schema which is useful in gaining a better understanding of text-based reading materials.
Deaccentuation' means the phenomenon that the accent on the particular element which deserves to be accented, disappears and loses the property of intonational prominence. Based on some theoretical background, we divided the cases where deaccentuation can be placed into six categories : the first, the case that the words already mentioned are repeated in the context; the second, the case that the element can be recovered anaphorically or situationally; the third, the case that the elements are semantically weightless; the fourth, the case that the meaning of the word is empty; the fifth, the case that the elements are less informative, so that they are easy to predict; the sixth, the case that the elements are located after the focused words. Then we organized the context and the experimental sentences corresponding to each category. The utterances of Korean and English native speakers were recorded and analysed based on the ToBI system and compared to each other, in order to find out that Korean speakers can distinguish the difference within each sentence pair, and produce them with appropriate intonation similar to that of native speakers.
In the present context of systemic global crisis, this paper focuses on a sustainable society. Throughout the World there are vast members of the unemployes. A secure job lasting a lifetime has become more and more rare. Nowadays majority of jobs are part-time or temporary. $Andr{\acute{e}}$ Gorz found a solution in a policy of the progessive reduction in labor time. This is the potential which automated production opens up for a culture society. Nevertheless, Gorz's proposal is based on utopion ideals. This paper focuses on a dynamic force for a culture society, especially art, learning and the third sector. Adrienne Goehler underlines that a culture in the broad sense of the word produces economical and social productivity. In this connection Goehler give attention to 'Cultrual Creatives' and the Creative Class. Cultural creatives are comprised of people who have participated in the process of creating a new culture with enlightened creativity. The Creative Class is a class of workers whose job is to create economic growth through innovation. Creativity is important for a sustainable society. Gore and Rifkin both come close to the ecological thinking. Gore claims that ecosystem of nature have a self-organizing capacity. In this context tried to prove this article that ecosystem is closely connected with a creative environment.
Complement is a special grammatical phenomenon in Chinese. There is no complement in Korean, so complement teaching is a difficulty. There are some similarities between the degree complement with "de" and the modality complement. For a long time, there has been a phenomenon of fuzzy classification in the academic circle, which also affects the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. There are several different views on these two kinds of complements in the current textbooks. This makes students and teachers feel very confused. From the perspective of Chinese teaching, the author analyzes the characteristics, classification and grammatical significance of these two kinds of complements, and investigates the four sets of current teaching materials. It is found that: some teaching materials are confused in terms of terms and classification; some teaching materials are not fully reproduced in terms of knowledge points; the students are prone to have partial errors, and the situation of the clutch words with modal complements is ignored by most teaching materials. Some textbooks overemphasize Verb Copying in the arrangement of modal complements. Most textbooks are lack of context. The author puts forward some teaching suggestions. In class, teachers should concentrate on speaking and practicing, and focus on the types of errors that students are prone to make. The textbooks should be arranged according to the outline, the two kinds of "similar" complements should be clearly classified, the context should be added appropriately, and the textbooks compiled in South Korea can be nationalized. Students should listen carefully, participate in classroom activities and interact with teachers. Ask for advice in case of any problem you don't understand..

The word library(図書館) is a Japanese translation of the Western library or Bibliothek in the mid-Meiji period. This word has been accepted in Chinese(图书馆), Taiwan(圖書館), Korea(도서관), and Vietnam(Dđồ thư quán), which are Chinese-speaking countries. If so, when and who first introduced the term library to Japan and China? In Japan, the enlightenment thinker Fukuzawa's 『Seiyo Jijo, 1866』 is regarded as the first document to introduce the Western library, and in China, the article published in 『Qing Yi Bao, 1896』 by the reformed thinker Liang Qichao referred to as the first example. Therefore, this study traced and demonstrated the time and person in which the word library appeared, focusing on modern dictionaries, books, translations, papers, and newspaper articles that were introduced in both countries. As a result, the theory of the introduction to Fukuzawa in 1866 is wrong because Western libraries are described in various terms in many diaries and dictionaries, including Motoki's 『An English Japanese Dictionary of the Spoken Language, 1814』. Also, in China, the theory of introduction of Liang Qichao in 1896 is not true because the term library first appeared in Ryu Jeong-dam's 『A Dictionary of Loan Words and Hybrid Words in Chinese, 1884』. In the same context, it is necessary to trace and argue the history of the first use of the term library in Korea and the name of the first library in Korea established by the Busan Branch of the Japan Hongdo Association in 1901.
