A study on wireless endoscope technology development combined with UWB communication module (UWB 통신모듈을 결합한 무선 내시경 기술 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we proceeded a study about the wireless endoscopic technology development combined with UWB communication module for endoscope. Firstly, we proposed needs of UWB wireless endoscope technology development related to domestic endoscope industry and UWB communication technology. Also, we develop a wireless endoscope combined with UWB communication module. In this paper, the proposed UWB wireless endoscope technology can acquire a endoscope image using UWB communication method. It can transfer a image at high data rate using DB and Smart Device linkage technology, an effective and trusted diagnosis is possible. The proposed UWB wireless communication module combined with UWB communication module is expected to be widely utilized.

A Solution for Reducing Transmission Latency through Distributed Duty Cycling in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 수신구간 분산 배치를 통한 전송지연 감소 방안)

  • Recently, wireless sensor networks are deployed in various applications range from simple environment monitoring systems to complex systems, which generate large amount of information, like motion monitoring, military, and telematics systems. Although wireless sensor network nodes are operated with low-power 8bit processor to execute simple tasks like environment monitoring, the nodes in these complex systems have to execute more difficult tasks. Generally, MAC protocols for wireless sensor networks attempt to reduce the energy consumption using duty cycling mechanism which means the nodes periodically sleep and wake. However, in the duty cycling mechanism. a node should wait until the target node wakes and the sleep latency increases as the number of hops increases. This sleep latency can be serious problem in complex and sensitive systems which require high speed data transfer like military, wing of airplane, and telematics. In this paper, we propose a solution for reducing transmission latency through distributed duty cycling (DDC) in wireless sensor networks. The proposed algorithm is evaluated with real-deployment experiments using CC2420DBK and the experiment results show that the DDC algorithm reduces the transmission latency significantly and reduces also the energy consumption.

  • In this paper, a resource management scheme for enhancing the network connectivity and reliability in wireless USB system is proposed. Wireless USB protocol is suitable for the application that supports the real-time multimedia service in Ship Area Network since it supports high speed data transfer. However, the device's mobility is caused the dramatic change of link state and network topology, and is occurred the degradation of network performance. Therefore, a resource management scheme for wireless USB system is proposed in this paper. The proposed technique can intelligently treat the change of link state, and solve the degradation of network performance. The simulation results show that proposed protocol can enhance the throughput and delay performance by selecting relay device with better link state.

  • Wireless sensor-actuator networks (WSANs) enhance the existing wireless sensor networks (WSNs) by equipping sensor nodes with an actuator. The actuators work with the sensor nodes and perform application-specific operations. The WSAN systems have several applications such as disaster relief, intelligent building, military surveillance, health monitoring, and infrastructure security. These applications require capability of reliable data transfer to act responsively and accurately. Biologically inspired modeling techniques have received considerable attention for achieving robustness, scalability, and adaptability, while retaining individual simplicity. In this paper, an epidemic-inspired algorithm for data dissemination with delay constraints while minimizing energy consumption in WSAN is proposed. The steady states and system stability are analyzed using control theory. Also, simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme provides desirable dissemination delay and energy saving.

  • With the growth of data communication service by mobile devices, WAP is proposed to efficiently access the Internet contents by user request through wireless condition that has a high error rate and mobility. But, because a transmission speed of WAP is limited, it takes many times to transmit and to receive the data. This paper has studied the WAP packet transmission time using WTP-SAR algorithm. As a method that is to improve transfer capability of WAP, using SAR function in WTP, total message down from upper layer has been fragmented and packet is transmitted through RLP frame time slot. Then, we have analyzed the transmission time of WAP packet with variable RLP layer size on the wireless CDMA network for next generation systems. From the results, we could obtain the WAP packet transmission time and optimal WTP packet size.

  • Wireless communication channels with the most severe multipath fading phenomenon that appears each time a different delay is caused by the frequency selective fading. At this time, ISI due to the performance degradation of wireless communication channels and data transfer speed gives the constraints. OFDM technique can remove ISI inserting longer guard interval than channel delay spread of channel between symbol. However, the multi-path delay of the channel to be serious with the guard interval can not eliminate ISI. In this case, using the equalizer must compensate. Especially, use of equalizer is need absolutely as data rate becomes high speed. In this paper, we analyze the BER performance with pre-equalization for MIMO-OFDM over fading channel. The results of this paper can be applied to MIMO-OFDM system with equalization.

  • The WBAN(Wireless Body Area Network) technology is a short distance wireless network which provides each device's interactive communication by connecting devices inside and outside of body located within 3 meters. Standardization on the physical layer, data link layer, network layer and application layer is in progress by IEEE 802.15.6 TG BAN. The The WBAN servides consists of both medical and non-medical applications. The medical application service uses the sensor that transfer the periodic traffic and have different data rates. It uses GTS method to guarantee QoS. In this paper, a new method is proposed, which are suitable design for MAC Protocol. Firstly, MAC frame structure and a primitive based on the WBAN are proposed. Secondly, we proposed the GTS algorithm improved the channel utilization based on the WFQ(Weighted Fair Queuing). The proposed scheduling method is improved channel utilization compared with i-Game(Round Robin scheduling method).

  • With the development of Cyber-Physical Systems(CPS), several technologies such as automation control, automotive and intelligent house systems have been developed. To enable communication among various components of such systems, several wired and wireless communication protocols are used. The Controller Area Network(CAN) is one of such wired communication protocols that is popularly used for communication in automobiles and other machinery in the industry. In this paper, we designed and implemented a response time analysis system for CAN communication. The reliable data transfer among various electronic components in a significant time is crucial for the smooth operation of an electric vehicle. Therefore, this system is designed to conveniently analyze the response time of various electronic components of a CAN enabled system. The priority for transmission of the messages in the CAN bus is determined by the message identifier. As the number of nodes increases the transmission of low priority messages is delayed due to the existence of higher priority messages on the bus. We used Raspberry Pi3 and PiCAN2 board to simulate the data transfer for studying the comparative delay in low priority nodes.

Delay Tolerant Packet Forwarding Algorithm Based on Location Estimation for Micro Aerial Vehicle Networks

  • In search and rescue mission, micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) are typically used to capture image and video from an aerial perspective and transfer the data to the ground station. Because of the power limitation, a cluster of MAVs are required for a large search area, hence an ad-hoc wireless network must be maintained to transfer data more conveniently and fast. However, the unstable link and the intermittent connectivity between the MAVs caused by MAVs' movement may challenge the packet forwarding. This paper proposes a delay tolerant packet forwarding algorithm based on location estimation for MAV networks, called DTNest algorithm. In the algorithm, ferrying MAVs are used to transmit data between MAVs and the ground station, and the locations of both searching MAVs and ferrying MAVs are estimated to compute the distances between the MAVs and destination. The MAV that is closest to the destination is selected greedy to forward packet. If a MAV cannot find the next hop MAV using the greedy strategy, the packets will be stored and re-forwarded once again in the next time slot. The experiment results show that the proposed DTNest algorithm outperforms the typical DTNgeo algorithm in terms of packet delivery ratio and average routing hops.

Control of mobile robot system with wireless transmission of image information.

  • There are various researches on mobile robot systems. Connection method between server and client of mobile robot system is one of them. In the case of mobile robot system, when connection method between server and client is wireless than wire, applications may be expanded. Also in remote monitoring environment using mobile robot system, we are interested in an effective transmission of the image information between server and client. In this paper, Bluetooth is used for connection method between server and client. One of the major applications of Bluetooth is the cable replacement for mobile and peripheral devices. Using Bluetooth, we propose the control method of mobile robot system. Bluetooth offers fast and reliable transmissions of both voice and data over the globally available 2.4GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band. It has the advantage of small size, low power and low cost. It has the disadvantage of limited range and limited bandwidth. Also in order to transfer effectively image information between remote site(server) and mobile robot system(client) using Bluetooth, we applied to MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 image compression techniques and the results are compared with each other.
