  • The consensus algorithm has a faster convergence speed as the number of cooperating neighbors increases, but the information sharing delay in the wireless network increases due to access collisions as the number of cooperating neighbors increases. Therefore, there exists a tradeoff between these two performances according to node's coverage. In this paper, we present a method of coverage control that minimizes consensus time according to network scale.

  • Software defined networking brings unique security risks such as control plane saturation attack while enhancing the performance of wireless sensor networks. The attack is a new type of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, which is easy to launch. However, it is difficult to detect and hard to defend. In response to this, the attack threat model is discussed firstly, and then a DDoS attack prevention extension, called FuzzyGuard, is proposed. In FuzzyGuard, a control network with both the protection of data flow and the convergence of attack flow is constructed in the data plane by using the idea of independent routing control flow. Then, the attack detection is implemented by fuzzy inference method to output the current security state of the network. Different probabilistic suppression modes are adopted subsequently to deal with the attack flow to cost-effectively reduce the impact of the attack on the network. The prototype is implemented on SDN-WISE and the simulation experiment is carried out. The evaluation results show that FuzzyGuard could effectively protect the normal forwarding of data flow in the attacked state and has a good defensive effect on the control plane saturation attack with lower resource requirements.

  • The Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is a multi-hop wireless network consisting of mesh routers and clients, where the mesh routers have minimal mobility and form the backbone. The WMN is primarily designed to access outer network to mesh clients through backhaul gateways. As traffic converges on the gateways, traffic hotspots are likely to form in the neighborhood of the gateways. In this paper, we propose Congestion Aware Multi-path Routing (CAMR) protocol to tackle this problem. Upon congestion, CAMR divides the clients under a mesh STA into two groups and returns a different path for each group. The CAMR protocol triggers multi-path routing in such a manner that the packet reordering problem is avoided. Through simulations, we show that CAMR improves the performance of the WMN in terms of throughput, delay and packet drop ratio.

  • In this paper, the position control of a car-like mobile robot using neural network is proposed. The positional information of the mobile robot is given by a laser range finder located remotely through wireless communication. The heading angle is measured by a gyro sensor. Considering these two sensor information as references, the robot posture by localization is corrected by a cascaded controller. In order to improve the tracking performance, a neural network with a cascaded controller is used to compensate for any uncertainty in the robot. The remotely located neural network filter modifies the reference trajectories to minimize the positional errors by wireless communication. A car-like mobile robot is built as a test-bed and experimental studies of proposed several control algorithms are performed. It turns out that the best position control can be achieved by a cascaded controller with neural network.

  • Wireless Sensor Network(WSNs) consists of small sensor nodes with sensing, computation, and wireless communication capabilities. The large number of sensor nodes in a WSN means that there will often be some nodes which give erroneous sensor data owing to several reasons such as power shortage and transmission error. Generally, these sensor data are gathered by a sink node to monitor and diagnose the current environment. Therefore, this can make it difficult to get an effective monitoring and diagnosis. In this paper, to overcome the aforementioned problems, intelligent sensor data validation method based on PCA(Principle Component Analysis) is utilized. Furthermore, a practical implementation using embedded system is given to show the feasibility of the proposed scheme.

  • USB has arguably become the most successful PC peripheral interconnect ever defined. As appearing UWB, wireless USB (WUSB) emerges very popular technology. However, the distributed Medium Access Control (MAC) does not harmonize with the topology of WUSB. In this paper, we address a novel MAC protocol for conformity with WUSB. The protocol is to handle negotiation on Distributed Reservation Protocol (DRP) including the channel time slot of WUSB.

  • Community network is a communication environment where heterogeneous devices can access and communicate with each other at any time and at any space to share information. To do so, mobile devices are required to be self-configured even in absence of communication infrastructures. Semi-infrastructured wireless ad-hoc network is a promising solution to meet with such a requirement. This paper proposes the VTC(virtual topology coordinator) system as an evaluation tool for examining network protocols that are intended to be deployed in the semi-infrastructured ad-hoc networks. VTC emulates multi-hops wireless network topology virtually using a mechanism of selective receiving MAC frame in a small area, where only a single hop communication is available. VTC system cannot consider all properties introduced in real wireless network, but do more wireless properties than verification through simulation.

  • Nowadays, there are significant interests in real-time remote control using wireless networks. In implementing real-time remote control, one important factor is delay performance of real-time control message. Especially, the technique to reduce jitter of delay is necessary in transmitting periodically real-time control message. In this paper, we proposed synchronized transmission to reduce jitter of delay, when real-time control message was transmitted through wireless networks. The proposed transmission kept synchronization between source node and wireless transmitter and controlled transmission instance to transmit real-tie control message with fixed delay in wireless networks. According to results of experiment in military unmanned vehicle system, the proposed transmission reduced jitter of delay as 32% as that of a non-employing case.

  • Congestion occurring at wireless sensor networks(WSNs) causes packet delay and packet drop, which directly affects overall QoS(Quality of Service) parameters of network. Network congestion is critical when important data is to be transmitted through network. Thus, it is significantly important to effectively control the congestion. In this paper, new mechanism to guarantee reliable transmission for the important data is proposed by considering the importance of packet, configuring packet priority and utilizing the settings in routing process. Using this mechanism, network condition can be maintained without congestion in a way of making packet routed through various routes. Additionally, congestion control using packet service time, packet inter-arrival time and buffer utilization enables to reduce packet delay and prevent packet drop. Performance for the proposed mechanism was evaluated by simulation. The simulation results indicate that the proposed mechanism results to reduction of packet delay and produces positive influence in terms of packet loss rate and network lifetime. It implies that the proposed mechanism contributes to maintaining the network condition to be efficient.
