A time-coded giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) magnetic field sensor was investigated and designed. The successfully constructed and tested laboratory model demonstrated a sensitivity of 5 ${\mu}s/{\mu}T$ in the field range of $\pm200{\mu}T$. The sensing element in the form of an amorphous thin wire, 100 mm in diameter $\times50$ mm long, was fit into a small field modulation coil of 60 mm length. At a magnetic field modulation in the range of hundreds of Hz, the change in time interval of two adjacent GMI voltage peaks was linearly related to the external magnetic field to be measured. This mechanism improved the sensor linearity to better than 0.3% in the measuring range of $\pm200{\mu}T$.
Siver nanowires have been obtained by electrodepositon in the porous anodic alumina that plays a role as a template in the constant current mode using DC power supply. The diameter and the length of the silver nanowires are about 55 nm and 13 ${\mu}m$ corresponding to them of the template respectively. The aspect ratio of the silver nanowires is more or less 200. The rate of the filling of the alumina pores is approximately 10%.

Welding variables and condition in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) effect on the weld quality and productivity, extensive research efforts have been made to analyze the welding variables and conditions. In this study dynamic behavior of GMAW system is investigated using the chararcteristic equations of the power supply. wire and welding arc. Characteristic equation of wire is modified to include the effect of droplets attached at the electrode tip. The dynamic characteristics of arc length, current, voltage with respect to the step, ramp inputs of CTWD was simulated. From results of simulation, some predictions about dynamic characteristics of GMAW and welding process are available. The proposed simulator and results appear to be utilized to determine the proper welding conditions, to be improved by considering power supply dynamic characteristics.

This paper introduces a general purpose Associative Processor(AP) which is very efficient for search-oriented applications. The proposed architecture consists of three main functional blocks: Content-Addressable Memory(CAM) arry, row logic, and control section. The proposed AP is a Single-Instruction, Multiple-Data(SIMD) device based on a CAM core and an array of high speed processors. As an application for the proposed hardware, we present a parallel algorithm to solve a global routing problem in the layout process utilizing the processing capabilities of a rudimentary logic and the selective matching and writing capability of CAMs, along with basic algorithms such a minimum(maximum) search, less(greater) than search and parallel arithmetic. We have focused on the simultaneous minimization of the desity of the channels and the wire length by sedking a less crowded channel with shorter wire distance. We present an efficient mapping technique of the problem into the CAM structure. Experimental results on difficult examples, on randomly generated data, and on benchmark problems from MCNC are included.

This paper conducted research on identifying the process of change in fishing gear and organizing the function of periodically-used fishing gear types through net plan and computer simulation by selecting the design of the four types of fishing gear used for the Korea tuna purse seiner in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean, which 1,000 G/T class and whose length over all 60 m class. In the late 1980s, the length of the tuna purse gear was 1,939 m and the design depth was 160 m, but currently, the length and the design depth are 2,515 m and 230 m, respectively. As a result of the simulation, the expansion of the fishing gear increased buoyance, sinking force, sinking depth, surrounded area, and purse wire continuously. Recently, the maximum tension of the currently used purse wire of tuna purse seiner is 23.5 tons and is close to 25.4 tons which is the maximum lift capacity of WS454 winch. The way to improve fishing gear should be proceeded to increase sinking speed rather than expand the size of fishing gear.

As high homogeneity in magnetic field is required to increase the resolution of MRI magnets, various shimming methods have been researched. Using one of them, the design of the superconducting active zonal shim coil for MRI magnets is discussed in this paper. The magnetic field of the MRI magnet is expressed as the sum of spherical harmonic terms, and the optimized current density of shim coils capable of removing higher-order terms is calculated by the Tikhonov regularization method. To investigate all potential designs derived from calculated current density, 4 sweeping parameters are selected: (1) axial length of shim coil zone; (2) radius of shim coils; (3) exact axial position of shim coils; and (4) operating current. After adequate designs are determined with constraints of critical current margin and homogeneity criterion, the total wire length required for each is calculated and the design with a minimum of them is chosen. Using the superconducting wire length of 9.77 km, the field homogeneity over 50 cm DSV is improved from 24 ppm to 1.87 ppm in the case study for 9.4 T whole-body MRI shimming. Finally, the results are compared with the finite element method (FEM) simulation results to validate the feasibility and accuracy of the design.

In order to design a huge VLSI system, the scan testing methodology by employing scan flip-flops(cells) is a popular method to test those If chips. In this case, the connection order of scan cells are not important, and hence the order can be determined in the very final stage of physical design such as cell placement. Using this fact, we propose, in this paper, a scan cell reordering method which minimizes the length of wires for scan chain connections. Especially, our reordering method is newly proposed method in the case when the scan cells are grouped according to their clock domains. In fact, the proposed reordering method reduces the wire length about 13.6% more than that by previously proposed reordering method. Our method may also be applicable for reordering scan chains that have various constraints on the scan cell locations due to the chain grouping.

This study is on the brassiere of reduce clothing pressure. To set the measurements of bras for women in their 20s, considering the comfortableness in wearing and tightness, this paper conducted a questionnaire survey concerning breasts and bras as well as measurements of body and contact surface pressure. As a result of comparing the discrepancies between the lower chest circumferences of the body and the bra, it was revealed that 67.0% were wearing one that was bigger than the body size. Most of them mentioned 'feeling of tightness' as a reason(60.4%), which suggests there are problems of the total length and elasticity in the process of making bras. The favorite bra types are wire type(57.9%), mold type(24.3%), and strapless type(10.4%).it is recommended that the total length of lower chest circumference be increased. The result and the recommendations of this study are as follows: First, the total length of brassiere be increased by 5cm from the current patterns in the process of manufacturing. Second, elasticity of the lower-side tapes be extended from 120% to 170%.

This paper presents a study on the prediction of transfer length of 13 mm seven-wire prestressing steel strand in pretensioned prestressed concrete members with rectangular cross-section including several material properties and design and manufacture parameters. To this end, a carefully selected database consisting of 207 different cases coming from 18 different sources spanning a variety of practical transfer length prediction situations was compiled. 16 single input features and 5 combined input features are analyzed. A widely used feedforward neural regression model was considered as a representative of several machine learning methods that have already been used in the engineering field. Classical multiple linear regression was also considered in order to comparatively assess performance and robustness in this context. The results show that the implemented model has good prediction and generalization capacity when it is used on large input data sets of practical interest from the engineering point of view. In particular, a neural model is proposed -using only 4 hidden units and 10 input variables-which significantly reduces in 30% and 60% the errors in transfer length prediction when using standard linear regression or fixed formulas, respectively.
The repair of concrete surfaces does not normally take into account structural tolerance for longer service lift and better capabilities of concrete structures. In particular, the repair of surface spelling completes as mortar is applied, which does not display additional structural performances. The use of crimped wire mesh for better construction and fracture resistance, however, expects to have some reinforcement effects. Particularly, it is also expected that the repair of bottom part in structures built between bridges like irrigation structures results in the increase of flexural resistance. Therefore, this study is intended to perform the repair using crimp wire mesh and examine strength depending on the repair section and depth. For this, a slab with 150 mm in depth, 3,000 mm in length and 600 mm in width and total 8 objects to experiment such as upper part, upper whole, bottom part, bottom whole and crimp wire mesh reinforced are manufactured to perform flexural performance. The results of the analysis show that yield strength and failure load increase as the depth of repair materials in the experiment reinforced with crimp wire mesh get bigger. In the same condition, repair of bottom part is able to increase internal force of bending force. Besides, the results show that partial repair of structures under bending force cannot produce flexural performance. Consequently, the repair method with crimp wire mesh results in the increase of flexural resistance.
