수조 실험에 의한 게 통발 어선의 복원성에 관한 연구 (A study on the stability of a crab trap fishing boat with water tank experiment)

  • According to the recent statistics of marine casualties in Korea, fishing boats are more likely to be ended in the casualties, and small fishing boats especially cause much more accidents in sinking and capsizing than any other big vessels. These casualties were mainly produced from the ignorance on the lack of own ship stability. From this view, this study aims to analyze the characteristics of stability on the crab trap fishing boat receiving transverse wave by means of carrying out the water tank test. The rolling angle of the model ship was affected largely with the displacement and the wave period of it, and the trends were shown that the magnitude of the angle was proportional to the displacement, but inversely to the wave period. And the wave height had effect on the rolling angle just in the specific range of the wave period. The force of steady wind didn't have influence on the rolling variation significantly.

Bleed Slot을 사용한 응축충격파의 피동제어 (Passive Control of the Condensation Shock Wave Using Bleed Slots)

  • The current study describes experimental and computational works on the passive control of the steady and unsteady condensation shock waves, which are generated in a transonic nozzle. The bleed slots are installed on the contoured wall of the transonic nozzle in order 10 control the magnitude of the condensation shock wave and its oscillations. For computations, a droplet growth equation is copuled with two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equation systems. Computations are carried out using a third-order MUSCL type TVD finite-difference scheme with a second-order fractional time step. Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model is employed to close the governing equations. An experiment using an indrafi transonic wind tunnel is made to validate the computational results. The current computations represented well the experimental flows. From both the experimental and computational results it is found that the magnitude of the condensation shock wave in the bleed slotted nozzle is signi ficantly reduced, compared with no passive control of solid wall. The oscillations of the condensation shock wave are successfully suppressed by a bleed slot system.

대륙붕 지형을 갖는 해양의 바람응력에 대한 초기반응의 수치실험 (A Numerical Experiment of Transient Response of the Basin with Continental Shelf-like Bottom Topography to Local Wind Stress)

  • 대륙붕과 대륙사면을 갖는 직사각형 해양의 북쪽 일부분에서 불어오는 바람에 대한 이 해양의 초기 단계에서의 반응이 수치실험을 통하여 관찰되었으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 전반적으로 보아 대륙붕파와 아주 유사한 파동이 발생되었으며 대륙붕을 따라 반시계방향으로 전파되었다. 2. 가장 먼저 대륙사면 밖에 중심을 두는 반시계방향의 vortex가 서쪽해안에 발생하여 해안을 따라 반시계방향으로 전파하며 그 속도는 $200\~300km/day$이다. 3. 바람응력이 끝날 즈음부터 대륙사면에 중심을 두는 일련의 vortex들이 생기나 해안을 따라 전파하며, 이 vortex들은 이 모델해양의 고유 모드중의 하나와 관련되는 것으로 생각된다. 4. 초기 단계에서의 대륙붕파의 발생은 각 모드별로 시차를 갖고 선택적으로 발달되어 전파되는 것으로 보여진다.

국내 인프라사운드 전파특성 연구 (Infrasound Wave Propagation Characteristics in Korea)

  • Korea Institute of Geology Mining and Materials(KIGAM) cooperating with Southern Methodist University(SMU) has been operating seismo-acoustic array in Chul-Won area to discriminate man-made explosions from natural earthquakes since at the end of July 1999. In order to characterize propagation parameters of detected seismo-acoustic signal and to associate these signals as a blast event accompanying seismic and acoustic signals simultaneously it is necessary to understand infrasound wave propagation in the atmosphere. Two comparable Effective Sound Velocity Structures(ESVS) in atmosphere were constructed by using empirical model (MSISE90 and HWM93) and by aerological observation data of Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) at O-San area. Infrasound propagation path computed by empirical model resulted in rare arival of refracted waves on ground less than 200km from source region. On the other hand Propagation paths by KMA more realistic data had various arrivals at near source region and well agreement with analyzed seismo-acoustic signals from Chul-Won data. And infrasound propagation in specific direction was very influenced by horizontal wind component in that direction. Linear travel time curve drawn up by 9 days data of the KMA in autumn season showed 335.6m/s apparent sound velocity in near source region. The propagation characteristics will be used to associate seismo-acoustic signals and to calculate propagation parameters of infrasound wave front.

Flapping Foil을 적용한 위치유지시스템 개발을 위한 운동시험 (Feasibility Study for Development of New Stationkeeping System)

  • In this study, experiments with a floater using flapping foils were performed to develop a new station keeping system that can maintain its position in waves without mooring lines. The foils applied to this system generate thrust using wave energy. In this experiment, the motion of the floater was analyzed in three different wave periods. Sixteen foils were attached to the cylindrical floater. The thrust of each foil was controlled by changing its azimuth angle, and three cases were compared. Based on the previous data, we made more precise measurements and found an optimal model for stationkeeping under each wave condition. We verified the potential of this new stationkeeping system using flapping foils, and conclusions were drawn from the results.

  • Storm surges are defined as abnormal changes of sea surface elevation whose periods range from several hours to days. The generation mechanism is separated into two.   • This paper deals with PC-based ship handling simulator, which is now widely utilized not only for total assessment of safety in harbour area but also for training purpose. The suitable mathematical model for low advance speed manoeuvre is treated with the effects of current, wind, wave, tug force and water depth. We adopt 3 dimensional graphic technique for perspective representation of relative ship motion. Some graphical panels on the screen are devised for data input/output or ship manoeuvring information. We show the real time simulation of berthing menoeuvre applied to Pusan harbour as an example.

자기회귀 모델과 신경망 모델을 이용한 복잡한 지형 내 항만에서의 파고 및 하역중단 예측 (Wave Height and Downtime Event Forecasting in Harbour with Complex Topography Using Auto-Regressive and Artificial Neural Networks Models)

  • 최근에 기후변화로 인해 너울성 고파 등 이상고파의 출현빈도가 높아지고 항만에서의 하역중단이 증가할 가능성이 커지고 있다. 하역중단을 최소화할 수 있도록 방파제(breakwater) 등을 추가적으로 건설하여 정온도(tranquility)를 향상시키는 것도 매우 중요하지만, 하역중단시점을 미리 예보함으로써 항만 운영을 효율적으로 하는 것도 또한 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 효율적인 항만 운영을 위하여 하역중단시점을 사전에 예보할 수 있도록 바람 예보자료를 이용하여 항외 주요 지점에서의 파랑자료를 추산하고, 복잡한 지형을 가진 항내 주요 지점에 대해서는 장기 관측을 실시하여 파랑자료를 수집한 후, 광역 계산지점에서의 파고와 항내 관측지점에서의 파고 사이의 관계를 자기회귀모델(auto-regressive model)과 인공신경망(artificial neural networks) 모델을 이용하여 바람예보자료를 이용한 수치실험 결과만으로 항내 파고를 예측하고, 하역중단시점을 예보할 수 있는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안방법의 적용성을 평가하기 위하여 포켓(pocket) 형상의 비교적 복잡한 지형 조건을 가진 포항신항 내 파랑관측지점에서의 파고 예측 및 하역중단시점을 예측하였으며, 그 결과를 관측자료와 비교하여 제안 방법의 성능을 검증하였다. 인공신경망 모델의 파고 예측결과를 자기회귀모델에 의한 파고 예측결과와 비교할 때, 인공신경망 모델의 예측결과가 관측자료와의 상관계수가 높고 RMS 오차가 작음을 알 수 있었고, 하역중단시점의 예측에 있어서도 인공신경망의 결과가 자기회귀모델의 결과보다 상대적으로 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

CMIP5 기후 모형에서 나타나는 동아시아 한파의 특징 (Characteristics of East Asian Cold Surges in the CMIP5 Climate Models)

  • The cold surges over East Asia can be grouped to two types of the wave-train and the blocking. Recently, the observational study proposed new dynamical index to objectively identify cold surge types. In this study, the dynamical index is applied to the simulations of 10 climate models, which participate in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5). Focusing on assessment of cold surge simulation, we discuss characteristic of the wave-train and blocking cold surges in the climate models. The wave-train index (WI) and the blocking index (BI) based on potential temperature anomalies at dynamical tropopause over the subarctic region, the northeast China, and the western North Pacific enable us to classify cold surges in the climate models into two types. The climate models well simulate the occurrence mechanism of the wave-train cold surges with vertical structure related to growing baroclinic wave. However, while the wave-train in the observation propagates in west-east direction across the Eurasia Continent, most of the models simulate the southeastward propagation of the wave-train originated from the Kara Sea. For the blocking cold surges, the general features in the climate models well follow those in the observation to show the dipole pattern of a barotropic high-latitude blocking and a baroclinic coastal trough, leading to the Arctic cold surges with the strong northerly wind originated from the Arctic Sea. In both of the observation and climate models, the blocking cold surges tend to be more intense and last longer compared to the wave-train type.
