Quasi-Cyclic LDPC Codes using Superposition Matrices and Their Layered Decoders for Wibro Systems (Wibro 시스템에서 중첩 행렬을 이용한 준 순환 LDPC 부호의 설계 및 계층 복호기)

  • Most communication systems including Wibro use quasi-cyclic LDPC codes composed of circulants. However, it is very difficult to design quasi-cyclic(QC) LDPC codes with optimal degree distribution satisfying conditions on layered decoding and girth due to the restriction of the size of its base matrix. In this paper, we propose a good solution by introducing superposition matrices to QC LDPC codes. We derive the conditions on checking girth of QC LDPC codes with superposition matrices, and propose new decoder to support layered decoding both for original QC LDPC codes and their modifications with superposition matrices. Simulation results show considerable improvements to convergence speed and error-correcting performance of proposed scheme which adopts QC LDPC codes with superposition matrices.

Design and Fabrication of the Antenna for Wibro and WLAN Communications Using CPWG Structure (CPWG 구조를 이용한 Wibro 및 WLAN 통신용 안테나 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated the trapezoidal antenna using the CPWG structure for Wibro and WLAN communications. This antenna has broadband characteristics using the basic trapezoidal antenna, and an H-shaped parasitic patch is making an expansion of resonance bandwidth and bringing stability of impedance matching. Especially, CPWG structure is combined two kinds of the structure which of a monopole antenna and a coplanar waveguide antenna. They make up for the weak point of the CPW which is variation of impedance matching according to varying the gap or size of the feed line and the ground. The designed antenna has occurred resonances of which the band of 2.2 GHz to 4.6 GHz(70.5 %) below the return loss of -10 dB($VSWR{\leq}2$) obtained in measurement, and it has an omnidirectional radiation pattern of H-plane. In addition, the changes of impedance matching appear slightly caused by the effects of the ground plane and the feed line.

  • Wibro is stand for Wireless Broadband Internet called as Portable Internet, Wireless Broadband Internet or Wireless High-Speed Internet. This provides hish-speed internet service anytime, anywhere, from anyone and device with seamless mobility and the band is located between Mobile phone and wireless LAN. Wibro service should support handover to maintain connection continuously in movement because the service is based on If system which is different from cellular system. Current Mitre Mobility system and general Mobile If system has got a problem of delayed speed and lost packets during handover. IETF protocol has been proposed for minimizing this problem and its standardization is under process, mainly focused on Mip4, Mip6 and Mipshop WG. This article studies and analyzes an effective method of minimizing handover delay to improve the problem of WiBro system and its revitalization & outlook.

  • For the past years, wireless communications environment have developed with explosive demand of internet service and increase of subscriber. Anytime anywhere, we can access internet service and recently, we can access internet with portable terminal using wireless communications. So several schemes have been proposed for the efficient service. In this paper, we may improve performance of wibro system using adaptive antennas scheme at the base station (BS) and mobile station(MS),operating jointly. In wibro system, the joint use of transmit beamforming at BS and receive beamforming at MS is improved the SINR and increased the capacity compared to conventional system[1],[2].

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented the MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) antenna for the mobile handset that could be used for multiple services. Simulation results were obtained using SEMCAD X by SPEAG based on the FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) Method which showed that S11 values were less than -6 dB (VSWR < 3) for LTE (Long Term Evolution) 700/2300/2500, K-PCS (Korea-Personal Communication Service : 1,750 ~ 1,870 MHz), US-PCS (US-Personal Communication Service : 1,850 ~ 1,990 MHz), Wibro (2,300 ~ 2,390 MHz), Bluetooth (2,400 ~ 2,483 MHz), and US-WiMAX (US-World interoperability for Microwave Access: 2,400 ~ 2,590 MHz) frequency bands. Measured results of the fabricated antenna also showed that it could be used for LTE 700/2300/2500, K-PCS, US-PCS, Wibro, Bluetooth, and US-WiMAX. services.

  • WiBro will speed up Ubiquitous era that will have positive effects in our economy such as increase in general production, consumer spending, general export, service qualify, and employment rate. Considering the fact that Wibro is currently commercialized in only few selected countries, Korea has advantage in standardizing technology, accumulating the related know-how, producing domestic parts, and technology marketing experience. I believe developing Wibro technology in Korea will deliver a significant amount of contribution to the future IT technology.

  • In this paper, propagation analysis method in using Walfish-Ikegami propagation model in wireless cell planning is proposed. Through Walfish-Ikegami model, we can predict the distribution of propagation loss of the received signal. For correct and low complex analysis, quick LOS search method and path loss offset calibration using measured data are included in Walfish-Ikegami model. In CellTREK that is developed by KT, it is showed that the proposed model outperforms Modified HATA model when comparing with measured data in Wibro system.

  • 최근 무선인터넷에 대한 소비자들의 니즈는 네트워크와 기술, 장소와 시간, 디바이스에 구애 받지 않는 저렴한 음성/데이터/영상 서비스이다. 무선망 사업자들은 소비자의 니즈에 비용효율적으로 부합하기 위해 전폭적인 망 확장 투자보다 이기종 망을 언종하는 방안을 고려하고 있다. 본 고에서는 WIBRO와 HSDPA가 공존하는 상황에서 코어망을 수정하지 않고, MIH 기반으로 이종망 연동을 빠르게 제공할 수 있는 방안을 제공한다. 제시하는 방법은 MIH 프레임워크 위에 단말에 MM(Mobility Manager)과 CMIP 클라이언트를, 서버에 핸드오버 정책엔진, 이종 주변망 정보서버를 개발하고, MBB(Make Before Break) 방식으로 구현하여 WIBRO-HSDPA망간 핸드오버시 15ms 이내의 지연을 보장하였다. 모바일 IPTV 등 실시간 응용실험에서 핸드오버로 인한 지연이 응용의 품질에 영향을 미치지 않았다.

High-Gain Fabry-Pérot Cavity Antenna with Planar Metamaterial Superstrate for Wibro Base Station Antennas (평판형 메타 물질로 구성된 상부 덮개를 갖는 와이브로 기지국용 고 이득 Fabry-Pérot 공진기 안테나)

  • A new high-gain Fabry-$P{\acute{e}}rot$ cavity antenna for wireless broadband internet(Wibro) base station antennas, which is covered with metamaterial superstrate presenting simultaneous negative values of permittivity and permeability, is proposed. To facilitate the fabrication process using the printed circuit board(PCB) technology of today, a new planar-type metamaterial superstrate is designed, which shows negative and low positive values of a refractive index near the Wibro service frequency band. And the principle of antenna gain enhancement is analyzed from the two different view points of effectively low refractive index and of the Fabry-$P{\acute{e}}rot$ resonance condition. Single square patch antenna is used as a feeder. The separation distance is determined by considering the reflection phases of the metamaterial superstrate and the substrate satisfying Fabry-$P{\acute{e}}rot$ resonance condition, respectively. Comparison between the prediction and the measurement shows good agreement, which verifies the validity of our design approach.
