Whole cut에 의한 패션디자인 연구 (Fashion Design Study by Whole Cut Way)

  • Environmentally-friendly whole-cut designs can minimize carbon dioxide emissions which are harmful to the earth, and reduce energy, labor force and time in cutting or sewing clothes. The design and way of wearing clothing will be investigated by classifying whole-cut clothing appearing in the history of costume and past traditional outfits such as Drapery, a Pancho, Tunic, or Loincloth. According to the results from the analysis of whole-cut methods applied in design, they were classified as follows: whole-cut, utilizing square-panels as is, pleats, smoking, lip band, origami, cutting way, and subtraction-cutting whole-cut design. The whole-cut design utilizing square panel as it is can minimize the waste of energy and material but can also maximize the possibility of circulation by recycling. In utilizing an all square panel, it broke away from the existing whole-cut in the western pattern, namely, the pattern of clothes clinging to the body, and was found to have new aesthetic value with a new approach. Due to the whole-cut method having a restriction in the use of dart and line cutting in its designing process, there were only designs that did not show the body line, such as designs clinging to the body. Therefore we developed a design similar to those that cling to the body by whole-cut, In addition, the work produced was with high efficiency and variability, which produces simple designs but can be worn in a variety of ways.

Growth and Yield of Double Cropping Potatoes Produced Using Seed Tubers of Different Types and Sizes

  • For stable cultivation in double cropping, it is important to use potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) cultivars with a short dormancy period of 50-70 days and plant seed tubers of appropriate type and size. An experiment was conducted during 2018-2019 to investigate the effects of seed tuber type and size on growth and yield performance in double cropping. Whole tubers of three sizes (10-20 g, 30-40 g, and 50-60 g) and conventional cut tubers weighing 30-40 g from three cultivars with different dormancy periods, namely 'Daeji' (40-60 days), 'Eunsun' (50-60 days), and 'Saebong' (50-80 days), were planted, and their field performance was compared. Regardless of the cultivar, the increase in the whole tuber weight up to 30-40 g led to fast emergence, thereby increasing ground cover rate, shoot growth rate, and tuber growth rate, which ultimately improved tuber yield by 33-54%. Comparing the whole and cut tubers, 'Daeji' and 'Eunsun' showed similar growth and yield performance; as such, the performance of whole tubers weighing 10-20 g was comparable to that of cut tubers weighing 30-40 g. However, 'Saebong', a cultivar with relatively long dormancy period, performed better with cut tuber than with whole tubers. Based on these results, we recommend the use of whole tubers weighing over 30 g for double cropping. Further studies to break tuber dormancy are warranted in cultivars with relatively long dormancy periods (50-80 days), such as 'Saebong'.

Comparison of Cut Meat Yield from Two Different Breeds of Broilers in Korea

  • This study was carried out to compare the cut meat yields of Cobb and Avian and their profits at productive aspect. Two different breeds, Cobb (34,086,758 birds) and Avian (4,087,600 birds) produced from January 2009 to August 2009 were used. The whole chickens were divided into cut meats including tenderloins, breast fillets, whole wings, boneless thighs, and drumsticks. The growth performance and cut meat yield of Cobb and Avian were measured to investigate possible profit difference. Cobb was superior in the aspect of production performance to Avian with significant differences in survival rate and slaughtering age. As the weight gained, the yields of Cobb increased in breast fillets and boneless thighs as well as lean meat percentage. Significantly higher yield (%) of breast fillets was produced by Cobb at size 14 when compared with Avian. However, there was no significant difference in expected market prices for both cut meat and whole chicken meat between the two breeds in all sizes.

피복처리가 감자추작에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Mulching Treatments on Fall Cultivation of Potato)

  • To examine the effects of P.E. film and rice straw mulching on fall grown potato(Shimabara cultivar) in the middle region of Korea, sprouted seed tuber pieces were transplanted with six kinds of mulching treatments on 24th July and harvested on 25th October. P.E. film mulching from transplanting resulted the perfect rot of transplanted seed pieces due to the excessive high soil temperature (noon soil temperature of about 4$0^{\circ}C$ continued until the middle of August). P.E. film mulching from 15th September to harvest increased the marketable tuber yields by 35% due to the raising of soil temperature by 1-3$^{\circ}C$ and maintaining of available soil moisture in dry season. Rice straw (whole or cut in 10cm length) mulching lowered the soil temperature in hot season and raised it in cool season and maintained available soil moisture in dry season. Therefore better emergence, growth and yields were induced. Effects of whole straw, whole growing season and thicker mulching were greater than cut straw, half growing season and thinner mulching. 6cm mulching of whole or cut straw during whole growing season resulted the increasing of marketable tuber yields by 56 or 48%.

Effect of Storage Conditions of Whole Fruits on Quality of Fresh-cut 'Niitaka' Asian Pears

  • Quality changes of the slices processed from 'Niitaka' Asian pears (Pyrus pyrifolia) stored at $0^{\circ}C$ for up to 4 months under controlled atmosphere (CA, 1% $O_2+1%\;CO_2$) and normal air have been investigated for 4 days at $10^{\circ}C$. Respiration rate of the slices was retarded by pre-slicing storage for 4 months in CA. Electrolyte leakage was lower in the slices from pears stored for short-term than long-term and under CA than air. L and a values of the slices from whole pears stored under CA were maintained higher and lower, respectively as compared to the other. Levels of acetaldehyde and ethanol in the slices were increased by CA and long-term storage of whole pears. Content of ascorbic acid and counts of total aerobic microbes in the slices were not affected by storage conditions of whole pears. These results show that storage atmospheres and durations of whole pears affected quality changes of the slices and the conditions of pre-slicing storage should be considered as an important factor for optimizing fresh-cut procedures.

절단방법이 신선절단 사과와 엽채류의 품질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Cutting Methods on Qualities of Fresh-Cut Apples and Leafy Vegetables)

  • 신선절단 사과와 엽채류의 품질에 절단방법이 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위하여, 사과는 sharp knife나 dull knife로 절단하고, 양배추와 결구상추는 hand나 knife cutting 및 knife로 샐러드용 크기나 채썰기로 절단하고 각 절단품의 품질특성을 비교 조사하였다. 신선절단 사과의 갈변도와 과육경도는 dull knife보다 sharp knife로 절단한 경우에 유의적으로 낮고 높게 유지되었다. 반면에 신선절단 사과의 가용성 고형분 함량과 pH는 절단용 칼날의 날카로움에 따른 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. 신선절단 양배추와 결구상추의 갈변도는 hand cutting보다 knife cutting에서, 샐러드용 크기보다 세절인 채썰기한 경우에서 유의적으로 낮은 수준을 나타내었다. 이로써, 신선절단품 제조시 조직손상을 크게 하는 절단방법이 사과의 갈변과 연화를, 양배추와 결구상추의 갈변을 촉진시키는 것으로 확인되었고, 고품질 제품을 위해 조직손상을 최소화할 수 있는 기술이 적용되어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

한약재 추출물, 가열 및 코팅 처리가 신선절단 사과의 갈변도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Medicinal Herb Extracts and Heat and Coating Treatments on the Browning Degree of Fresh-Cut Apples)

  • 신선절단 '후지' 사과의 갈변도에 화학물질(ascorbic acid, cystein, sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, histidine: 1% 용액), 한약재(갈근, 당귀, 산약, 오약, 천궁, 황기: 1% 추출액), 가열(절단과실과 원형과실, $40-60^{\circ}C$ 증류수) 및 코팅(albumin, dextrin, sucrose poly ester, whole soy flour: 0.5-4% 용액) 처리가 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 각 처리방법별 신선절단 사과의 갈변도는 1% calcium chloride 용액 처리, 황기 추출물 처리, 3% dextrin과 1% whole soy flour 코팅 처리에 의해 가장 낮은 수준을 보였다. 가열처리의 갈변도는 절단과실 처리시에는 $50^{\circ}C$에서, 원형과실 처리시에는 $45^{\circ}C$에서 각각 처리한 시료에서 가장 낮은 수준을 보였다. 이로써 신선절단 사과의 갈변에 대한 한약재 추출물, 가열 및 코팅 처리의 억제 효과와 조건이 확인되었고, 이러한 방법은 화학물질을 부분적으로 대체할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

소나무재선충병 피해목 벌채가 토양호흡에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Felling of Damaged Tree of Pine Wilt Disease on Soil Respiration in Pinus densiflora Stands)

  • 본 연구는 소나무재선충병의 피해를 받은 토양생태계의 합리적인 관리를 위한 기초정보를 제공할 목적으로 이루어졌다. 토양온도와 수분함량은 완전벌채지 $15.3{^{\circ}C}$, 11.5%, 일부벌채지 $14.4{^{\circ}C}$, 13.5%, 대조구 $13.7{^{\circ}C}$, 14.8%로 나타났다. 토양유기물 함량은 완전벌채지가 2.11~2.64%, 일부벌채지 2.26~3.33%, 대조구 2.27~3.10%의 범위에 있은 것으로 분석되었다. 토양호흡량은 계절적인 차이가 있었는데 여름철에 높았으며, 토양온도와 정의 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 평균 토양호흡량은 완전벌채지 0.24, 일부벌채지 0.36, 대조구 $0.32gCO_{2}/m^{2}/hr$로 나타나 소나무재선충 피해목만 벌채한 일부벌채지의 토양호흡량이 가장 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 소나무재선충병 피해지 산림토양의 $Q_{10}$값은 2.39에서 2.68 사이에 있는 것으로 나타났다. 조사기간을 통한 년간 토양호흡량은 완전벌채지, 일부벌채지, 대조구에서 각각 8.1, 15.6, $14.6tCO_{2}/ha/yr$으로 분석되었다.

임신여성의 철영양상태와 철결핍상태 판정을 위한 Hb, Hct, TIBC, sTfR 및 sTfR:ferritin 비의 임계수준 평가s (Iron Status of Pregnant Women and Evaluation of Cut-off Levels of Hb, Hct, TIBC, sTfR, sTfR:ferritin Ratio for Assessment of Iron Deficiency)

  • This study was performed to determine the changes of maternal iron status during pregnancy cross sectionally, and to evaluate the appropriateness of the cut-off points of hemoglobin (Hb). hematocrit (Hct), serum transferrin receptor (sTfR) and sTfR : ferritin ratio for assessing iron deficiency status based on serum ferritin level (< 12${\mu}g$/L). Serum Hb concentrations in the first trimester were significantly higher (p < 0.05) than those in the second and third trimester. Serum levels of iron and ferritin in the third trimester were significantly lower (p < 0.05) than those in the first and second trimester. On the other hand, sTfR:ferritin ratios in the third trimester were significantly higher (p < 0.05) than those in the first and second trimester. sTfR concentrations did not change significantly during pregnancy. The appropriate cut-off points of Hb were 11.5g/dL for whole period of pregnancy. 12.0g/dL for 1st trimester. and 11.5g/dL for both 2nd and 3rd trimester. The good cut-off points of Hct were 34% for whole period of pregnancy. 36% for 1st trimester. and 34% for both 2nd and 3rd trimester The suitable cut-off points of TIBC were 400${\mu}g$/dL for whole period of pregnancy. 360${\mu}g$/dL for 1st trimester, and 400${\mu}g$/dL for both 2nd and 3rd trimester. Any cut-off point of sTfR could not be selected because of its low sensitivity and specificity. The proper cut-off point of sTfR : ferritin ratio was 600 or 650 for all the periods determined except the first trimester. In conclusion, there were no reliable cut-off levels of sTfR and those of sTfR : ferritin ratio showed low specificity. The cut-off values of Hb and Hct for assessing iron deficiency were slightly higher than the values used to evaluate anemia. Thus, if appropriate cut-off levels were applied, Hb. Hct, or TIBC might be useful indices for evaluating iron deficiency as well as anemia.

Cut Cell을 고려하는 주조유동 해석 방법 (NUMERICAL METHOD FOR MOLTEN METAL FLOW SIMULATION WITH CUT CELL)

  • Cartesian grid system has mainly been used in the casting simulation even though it does not nicely represent sloped and curved surfaces. These distorted boundaries cause several problems. A special treatment is necessary to clear these problems. A cut cell method on Cartesian grids has been developed to simulate three-dimensional mold filling Cut cells at a cast-mold interface are generated on Cartesian grids. Governing equations were computed using volume and areas of cast at cut cells. In this paper, we propose a new method that can consider the cutting cells which are cut by casting and mold based on the patial cell treatment (PCT). This method provides a better representation of geometry surface and will be used in the computation of velocities that are defined on the cell boundaries in the Cartesian gird system. Various test examples for several casting process were computed and validated. The analysis results of more accurate fluid flow pattern and less momentum loss owing to the stepped boundaries in the Cartesian grid system were confirmed. We can know the momentum energy at the cut cell is conserved by using the cut cell method. By using the cut cell method. performance of computation gets better because of reducing the whole number of meshes.
